"You what?" Tonya stammered, her cheeks flushing a deep red.
Steve raised an eyebrow.
"What? Is it really so hard to believe?"
"No, it's not that." Tonya said quickly, biting her lip.
"It's just… I didn't expect it."
Slowly, Steve leaned in, tilting his head down as if to kiss her. She didn't pull away. Her eyes flickered down to his lips, then back up to meet his gaze.
"Well?" Steve prompted softly.
"What made you think that?"
Tonya hesitated, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I just… I wasn't sure if we were doing the right thing."
Steve, paused for a moment, but atlast he muttered-
"Doing the right thing?" Steve repeated, his voice tight.
"What—are you saying you don't want to be with me anymore?"
Before he could take another breath, Tonya fired back at him, her voice overlapping in a rush of denial.
"No—Steve, that's not what I meant."
Tonya said, trying to catch her breath.
