Chapter 76 - OPRS: Chapter 76

The next day's instructor was Masked Deuce, teaching battlefield first aid.

This was Alistair's subject, but he delegated it to a specialist.

Alistair didn't know Deuce's medical skills, but he shared basic medical knowledge—blood vessels, nerves—combining it with first aid techniques. Deuce's skills improved rapidly.

He was a doctor from a noble family, well-educated, but somehow became a penniless pirate.

His education gave him clear thinking and logic. He understood Alistair's teachings and developed his own insights, his lectures second only to Alistair's.

No pirate dared to slack off during his first aid lessons; this was vital, as not all crews had doctors.

This knowledge could save their lives.

Trafalgar Law's ability to dissect people without harming them was terrifying—people cut into pieces yet alive.

But this was the dream of most doctors—understanding human anatomy from corpses, sometimes resorting to grave robbing, risking being branded heretics and burned.

The Ope Ope no Mi, used for rapid medical training, could create emergency surgeons in ten days.

Alistair lacked the Ope Ope no Mi, so he couldn't create professional surgeons in ten days.

But soldiers didn't need to be professional doctors; they only needed to treat their comrades on the battlefield.

He skipped burn and frostbite treatment, focusing on stopping bullet wounds, preventing infection, and cleaning and stitching cuts…

Deuce's lesson was vivid, using illustrations to teach first aid, allowing even illiterate pirates to learn.

Unlike Alistair's lecture, this was shorter, Deuce acting like a physical education teacher, leaving the remaining time to Alistair.

Alistair had a stack of papers with the letter "A" in the top left corner—the alphabet.

He also had wooden boards…

"Today, I'll teach you how to write 'A'." Alistair tapped the blackboard.

...

On the fourth day, training intensity increased; everyone carried weights during long-distance runs.

The pirates carried nothing; their weapons and supplies were on the ships.

But as an army, Alistair required them to fight even if scattered.

This was nearly impossible. The idea of scattered soldiers regrouping and completing a mission was like a fairy tale.

Even in the previous world, few armies could do this.

What constitutes a strong army?

Like his belief in the potential of everyone, reaching this level was an aspiration, like an ideal that might never be reached, but it didn't stop them from striving for it.

Easterners and Westerners differed: Westerners gave up if something seemed impossible; Easterners tried, leaving it for future generations to perfect.

The journey itself was rewarding.

Long-distance marches prepared them for future maneuvers.

Even without such combat scenarios, weighted cross-country runs improved their cardio and physique.

On the sixth day, training was suspended; everyone had a day off, but no one entered the town.

First, they lacked money; second, the town was empty.

Everyone had come to witness Alistair's "ascension to the sky."

With no businesses open, why enter the town?

Curiosity is universal; the desire to fly was common. Seeing this possibility…

Whether Jaya existed was irrelevant.

People only wondered: will it work? Can I do it too?

The hundred revolutionaries didn't rest; they maintained order. If the pirates attacked, the revolutionaries would lose; the pirates could seize Alistair's knowledge and power.

But the pirates formed small squads, separating the excited crowd. They looked at the central area with complex expressions, their thoughts unknown…
