Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Christmas Ends

Link could guarantee, this was the most intense pain he had ever experienced in his life.

This kind of pain was even more severe than the migraines he had in his past life caused by tooth decay. If pain were to be categorized by levels, Link estimated this should be about level 9.

Fortunately, this pain came suddenly and left quickly. It only lasted for a few dozen seconds before it gradually faded from Link's mind.

At this time, Link had already collapsed on the ground, his whole body soaking wet, drenched in sweat.

Harry was still holding onto Link, anxiously shouting. Link, who had recovered some strength, broke free from his embrace and said "I'm fine now, Harry."

"Oh my god! Are you sure you're okay? We should still go to Madam Pomfrey and have it checked out. You scared me just now." Harry said, dripping with sweat.

He really had been scared. As a teenage boy, he had never encountered such an emergency.

But Link, hearing this, wiped his sweaty hair and said, "Go to the infirmary? Then how will you explain sneaking out at night? How will you explain the mirror?"

As soon as these words came out, Harry's face instantly changed. Words like expulsion and dropping out flashed through his mind, leaving him stunned on the spot.

Seeing this, Link shook his head and said, "Alright, just take me back. I don't think I have any strength left."

Link's voice seemed to awaken Harry. Looking at Link's exhausted appearance, his expression turned complicated.

But in the end, he gritted his teeth and helped Link up, slowly walking in the direction of the Hufflepuff common room.

It was obvious that between "his own young wizard career" and "Link's body," Harry ultimately chose the former.

Link actually very much understood this decision. After all, the family Harry had originally lived in was just too terrible. No one would want to go back there, especially after Harry had now come into contact with such a magical place as the wizarding world.

This didn't mean Harry was a bad person. He just made the choice that most people would make.

This could be seen from the fact that later, along the way, he kept persuading Link to find an excuse tomorrow to go see Madam Pomfrey. He was very guilty.

To this, Link only smiled.

And after Link and Harry walked away, the door of that abandoned classroom opened again.

Dumbledore, wearing colorful corduroy pajamas, walked out.

He looked at the trail of footprints in the classroom and in the direction where Link and Harry had gone. His aged face suddenly turned extremely serious.

At the same time, Link had already been brought back to his bed. Though very tired, Link did not fall asleep. He just lay on the bed quietly, thinking about the bizarre encounter that night.

In his previous life, because of the influence of Sherlock Holmes-related films and dramas, Link had actually studied psychology for a while.

Therefore, he was very aware that what a person desires in their heart is constantly changing.

For example, a shut-in might desire only a PS5 during the day, but when night falls and it's quiet, he might start longing for a real girlfriend.

Based on this theory, Link's experience that night could be explained.

Because Link himself was a changeable and casual person, he had never had a dream so firm that it couldn't be shaken. Nor did he have traumatic experiences like Harry did. So it was normal for what appeared in the Mirror of Erised to change.

However, even though Link was already using these seemingly reasonable theories to convince himself, he still felt uneasy deep down.

This uneasiness came from the last scene shown in the Mirror of Erised. The person in that scene had clearly done something very terrible to Hogwarts.

If the Mirror of Erised reflects only the deepest desires in one's heart, did that mean that deep in Link's heart, he actually wished to destroy Hogwarts?

Taking several deep breaths, Link tried hard to rid himself of this terrifying thought. Then he forced himself to fall asleep.

And when the next day arrived, as soon as Link stepped out of the common room, he bumped into Harry.

Harry looked extremely haggard, with dark circles under his eyes, clearly having not slept all night. But even so, the moment he saw Link, he rushed over and said, "I thought about it all night, and I think you should still go to the infirmary and have it checked out."

Seeing Harry's anxious look, Link didn't refuse and followed him to the infirmary.

He wasn't the kind of person who ignored problems just because they seemed small. Besides, the Hogwarts infirmary didn't cost money. If it's free, why not get checked?

And when they arrived at the infirmary and told their already-made-up story, Madam Pomfrey was shocked. With a serious face, she made Link undergo a bunch of tests and drink a bunch of potions.

It wasn't until nearly noon that she finally announced that Link's body was not seriously harmed.

This made Harry let out a huge sigh of relief. Over the past few hours, he was even more nervous than Link himself. Now he could finally relax.

But Link himself wasn't so optimistic, because Madam Pomfrey's expression was clearly off when she made the final announcement.

But Madam Pomfrey obviously didn't want to let Link know the truth behind it. Link didn't press further, because he knew very well, at the very least, Madam Pomfrey wouldn't hurt him.

After this small episode, everything returned to normal.

John and the others were still dragged off to train by Cedric as usual, preparing for the Quidditch match against Gryffindor after the Christmas holiday.

Link also resumed going to Snape's office as usual, practicing Sectumsempra and Occlumency under his supervision.

These days continued until the day before the Christmas holiday ended, when the returning students came back.

Hogwarts became lively again. Whether they had stayed or returned, every student had a happy smile on their face. Overall, they had a great Christmas. So did Link.

Even though during this time he was constantly under Snape's training and barely had any rest, the training brought him great improvement.

Most notably, his Sectumsempra, both offensive and defensive forms, had reached Level 2.

This gave Link significant mastery of the spell. At the very least, he could now practice it on the back of his hand without worrying about accidentally cutting off his whole hand due to excessive magic output.

If there was anything less satisfying, it was that he still hadn't learned Occlumency.

Link was quite frustrated by this, but Snape was extremely calm. He clearly told Link that this was the normal result. In his words, if Link really did manage to master Occlumency in just a few days, then he would have to suspect that Link was under the control of some dark wizard.

And after one night of excitement, the young wizards had to return to their studies.

Link's first class was none other than Defense Against the Dark Arts.
