Evan's Journal
Month 1, Day 29
Location: Melemele Meadow
Time: 11:00 AM
After the heated clash between Thorn and the Pom-Pom Style Oricorio, we returned to our main purpose—research. The meadow, awash in colour and drifting pollen, seemed to exhale in relief, settling back into its natural rhythm.
[Pokémon: Bug Catcher]
Flabébé
Among the gentlest blooms, I spotted her. A Flabébé, barely the size of my palm, rested atop a bright yellow flower. She wasn't flying in the traditional sense—she drifted, her movement light and effortless. She and her flower moved as one, perfectly in sync, like a petal on the breeze or a tiny boat sailing a golden sea.
When she noticed me, she tilted her head, curious but not frightened. I raised a hand and gave a small wave. She didn't flee. Instead, she floated away, flower and all, as if guided by an invisible current. The moment felt sacred, fleeting and gentle. I watched her until she disappeared into the golden tapestry of the meadow.
Behind me, Professor Kukui and Mr. Bramble were hard at work—measuring pollen levels, taking habitat notes, and jotting details in waterproof notebooks. I took out my Pokédex and began capturing photos and footage of the local Pokémon. Trixie found a group of Cutiefly and danced with them mid-air, spinning and weaving like a playful wind. I snapped a few pictures; her joy, even through the lens, was infectious.
Time:12:00 PM
Lunch was simple—rice balls, fresh fruit, and a few berries we'd foraged earlier. We sat under the shade of a large tree at the meadow's edge: me, Professor Kukui, Mr. Bramble, and my Pokémon. Trixie munched happily on a Pecha Berry. Thorn stood on high alert, arms crossed and ever watchful. Grip was already asleep, drooling into the grass beside me.
And then… it happened again. That feeling. That presence. Someone—or something—was watching me. A chill crept across my neck despite the warmth of the midday sun. I paused mid-bite and slowly turned toward the source of that sensation. There was nothing visible, but the air felt charged, like a silent hum just beyond hearing. It was here again: that hidden watcher.
I activated my Aura Sight. The world shimmered slightly, its energy threads illuminated to my eyes. Pokémon and humans glowed faintly, their auras flickering like candlelight. Then I saw it—a flash of white. Quick and elusive, it darted behind a tree at the far edge of the meadow.
I stood up. "Evan?" Professor Kukui called, but I didn't reply. I wasn't ignoring him. I just… needed to know.
I moved carefully, each step deliberate, like Thorn stalking prey. It was the same tree, the same feeling I had when I received my Z-Ring. My heart raced with each step.
I reached the tree and found something I hadn't expected: an egg. Perfectly smooth and pure white, it glowed softly, nestled in the wildflowers as though the meadow itself had cradled it. The grass around it was untouched, as if it had just… appeared.
I knelt beside it, my fingers hovering inches above. I could feel the warmth radiating from it. Life. Potential. A gentle presence. A gift—or maybe… a silent request.
