Chapter 45 - The Missing Sentence "I Like You"

Chapter 45 — The Missing Sentence "I Like You"

The place where the wild girl lit the fire to cook the meat was very close to the beach camp where Jun was.

She didn't understand why she unconsciously followed those two strange people.

When she realized it, she had already walked quite far. She had followed the direction Jun and Utaha had gone.

But in the end, she decided to stop.

That strong man...

He was the one who killed the humans from the cannibal tribe.

He was also the one who shot and killed the leopard with one arrow.

It's too dangerous...

The savage girl did not want to carelessly approach and end up becoming the next victim.

The autumn night wind felt colder.

From where she was standing at the edge of the forest, she could clearly hear the sound of the wind whistling.

The small campfire nearby began to tremble, blown by the wind.

She couldn't go back to her tribe.

She was too scared to go to the dangerous man's territory.

She also didn't want to meet the cannibal tribe again.

She didn't have anywhere to go back to.

She felt scared, and her body got all tense.

She felt a little warmth from the fire tonight.

— — —

The sound of a heartbeat is loud and steady.

A huge bear ran through the forest, leaving big footprints in the dirt.

The goal is to build a giant beehive.

Winter was coming soon, and at this time its body fat was not enough to survive hibernation.

It was forced to leave the small island where it usually lived because of a volcanic eruption. It returned to this big island.

That messed up its sleep schedule, and it woke up from its long sleep because it was hungry.

But luckily, it smelled like honey.

Bzzz… bzzz…

The bear didn't care about the big bees flying around it.

With one strong swing, it crushed the giant beehive, which was as big as a rock.

Golden honey splashed everywhere, even wetting its own body.

The giant bees came out and started to swarm, and their stings occasionally made the big bear growl in pain.

But the bear didn't care.

With its face in the hive, it kept licking the honey and biting the wriggling larvae.

It didn't take long for the hive to become just a bare frame.

The bodies of bees fell and scattered around.

"GRAWRR!!"

But that wasn't enough to satisfy such a big bear.

It looked at the next beehive, which was bigger and shinier.

— — —

"Is everything ready?"

Jun looked at the two girls next to him while carrying the biggest rattan basket on his back.

Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui.

"Ready!" Yui shouted enthusiastically, raising her hand high.

Even though she was only wearing pants made from tree bark and dry grass, the girl was full of life.

This was the first time since coming to Jun's camp that Yui would leave the camp area.

Yukino had often told stories about wild boars and very venomous snakes, but Yui was more curious than scared.

She was the type of girl who couldn't sit still.

"Okay, let's go."

Yukino also nodded gently.

She was also curious about what the so-called Lamp Tree really looked like.

"Okay, let's go."

To make sure the two girls behind him were safe, Jun decided that the three of them would hold hands and walk in a line.

This way, they wouldn't have to worry about sudden dangers or someone being left behind.

But because this formation required Yukino and Jun to hold hands, the girl's face blushed shyly.

But Yui encouraged Yukino, and she finally let Jun hold her hand.

Their formation was: Katō Jun – Yukinoshita Yukino – Yuigahama Yui.

They followed the path that Jun had planned earlier.

This trip was very smooth—no wild boars, venomous snakes, or dangerous people.

Finally, they arrived across the river from the new camp location.

When Yui saw the spider forest nearby, she hid behind Yukino, looking pale and terrified.

"No way! The spiders are that big! They're so scary! Ugh! Yukinon!"

"It's okay. They shouldn't come closer…"

Yukino was also afraid of spiders. But seeing Yui shaking in his embrace made him feel a little better.

"It's still morning. How about we start building a wooden bridge to cross?"

Jun said this while looking at the river in front of them.

"Do you know how to make a bridge?"

Yukino looked at Jun with doubt, then put the rattan baskets on her back and Yui's on the ground.

If you didn't count the scary spider forest, the view across the river was really beautiful.

There were wide grasslands, even though they were starting to yellow.

A giant tree towering high as if reaching for the sky.

That tree was very different from the other trees in the forest.

It looks like a plant from an alien planet in sci-fi movies.

"I'll cut the tree down. Yukino, you'll help guide later, okay."

Jun was clearly not as skilled as Yukino when it came to construction.

"Yukinon, you're being a bit too hard on Katō-kun, aren't you?"

Yui brought her face close to Yukino's ear and whispered softly.

"You're like a wife scolding her husband..."

"W-what... wife!? What are you saying!?"

Yukino's face immediately turned red.

She quickly brushed her bangs to the side, trying to hide her nervousness.

"I just... just..."

It was only because she saw Utaha sleeping close to Jun that morning. That made her feel upset.

It was cold, but a boy and girl their age shouldn't be sleeping so close to each other.

"Has Katō-kun ever confessed to you, Yukinon?"

Yui asked in earnest, still puzzled about their relationship.

"About that..."

Yukino just realized that they had never really confessed their feelings.

"Not yet."

"Not yet! But you already..."

Yui made a kissing gesture with her fingers.

"T-That was just an accident! Just coincidence!"

Yukino quickly interrupted, not wanting to talk about what happened that night.

"Let's remove the fiber rope from the basket! We have to start making the bridge!"

She quickly changed the topic.

"Oh... okay..."

Yui looked disappointed, but she didn't push to keep going.

But even though the topic had changed, Yukino was still thinking about one thing.

What was her relationship with Katō Jun?

After all, they were already very close.

She remembered the night's kiss, and it made her happy.

Damn it... that person has never said "I like you"...

Yukino looked at Jun while pulling the fiber rope. Jun was chopping the tree with such a sharp gaze that Yukino felt like she wanted to stab him.
