She didn't actually have to go through the trouble of faking her death but she thought that if she ever wanted to quit her job as the president she would leave this way. Her children might come to visit her in her fake funeral so she would be waiting for them there.

This whole fake death thing happened before the day of their mission in Idemay. Taen's mentality was ruined. He was devastated by this news. He didn't know the truth. He wanted to research more about this to know if this was true but he couldn't because of the mission the next day. They were in the last phase of preparing for the mission.
He had to do something. Something that will feel like he had taken revenge for his 'dead' mother. For that, he decided to blow up half a country that had isolated him for four years by summoning an otherworldly being.
He was the son of a president of a country that basically was a heaven of secrets and information. He also had an account in a website that had all the information from all over the world that one ever had hardly any access to.
He researched for almost an hour. Then he remembered something from when he was a child. His mother once told him about Ysoria's first king's diamond. "That diamond is an important existence to this world" were the words of his mother.
The existence of that diamond was dangerous to their world. It was first found on the border of Ysoria and Nica.
The people of Idemay wanted that diamond. So they send people to steal it. Their heist was a big failure.
The appearance of the diamond was as magical as the existence of their powers. The diamond was more transparent than my attitude.
Joke aside, the diamond was transparent like the water droplet of the rain which occurs on a sunny day.
The colour of the reflection in the diamond as the atmosphere changed. The diamond was as mysterious as the mysterious sea animal which has yet to discover its way up to shore of a beach. An unknown variable.
When the people of Idemay were planning to steal the diamond, the people of Idemay needed a little bit of help from Taen in their mission of stealing the diamond. They contacted Taen.
Taen was planning how to have his vengeance on these people at that time. So he had a perfect idea. To place a teleportation scroll or in modern terms wrap device.
Rhodri's personal hobby was to experiment ,or in other words, to collect these devices and use them on people in the most cruel ways. Basically, torturing people was his another secret hobby which was hidden by the mask of collecting unique devices. He was a weird fanatic of sorts. Taen, as his best friend, even though for only 2 years, knew about his 'unique hobby' and ,well, he couldn't care less about it.
Before coming here, Rhodri's new collection contained a special sort of a device. A limited edition, the only one in the whole world, one which was only made for Rhodri by his one and only dear trusted craftsman. His dear hidden craftsman. Who was it, you asked? Taen. It was Taen. Taen learned to make these things because of Rhodri's 'unique hobby'. The way Rhodri's eyes sparkled when he looked at those devices really made Taen's heart melt. So he decided to learn how to make those devices. Then he will contribute a little bit more to making Rhodri's eyes sparkle and make him happy. He just wanted to make him happy.
Taen had made one more of the limited edition device, which if used , would teleport Taen to Rhodri in case of an emergency.
As Taen was an expert in making these devices. He had one which was perfect for his purpose right at the moment of his vengeance. The device he was going to use looked like sticky tape. It was transparent and could camouflage anywhere.
