Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Hope

Tamiel advanced toward the border, carrying Alain on his back.

I have to get there fast before they decide to send warriors after me, he thought to himself and kept running.

Alain, meanwhile, swung between extreme stress and falling into despair.

He looked at Tamiel and already concluded that he worked for the Kingdom of Darkness in exchange for something.

He saw how dedicated he was to this work and to what extreme mental state it had brought him.

Was it all worth it? Would Tamiel even get fair treatment in the Kingdom of Darkness? Who said this wasn't all for nothing?

The more Alain thought about it, the more he began to feel a complete lack of identification with Tamiel.

He had arrived in this world only two days ago and had already managed to form desires and ambitions for himself.

He hadn't abandoned them until now, but as time passed, he realized how little they withstand the test of reality.

Alain kept thinking about the situation and eventually fell into complete despair and surrender.

He understood the cruel forces of the world that don't give people like him or Tamiel the certainty to express their will.

He realized that his desires and ambitions might not come true at all and that it was just pointless to resist the world's system.

---

Ann arrived at the priests' chamber, where they informed her about everything that happened with Tamiel.

She was completely surprised by all the recent events but didn't let it delay her thinking. Her child was in mortal danger, and they couldn't waste a single moment.

"Send your witch to the border with the Kingdom of Darkness, he's the fastest person in this kingdom, if not in the whole world, he's our best chance to catch Tamiel and save my child."

"You're right, Lady Ann, but none of us have the authority to do that," one of the armored warriors responded.

"I'm sorry to say, but I've always looked at your priests' system with absolute contempt."

"What do you mean?"

"I understand they wanted to create order and unity, but they simply stole everyone else's chance to do anything."

The warriors listened to her silently.

In fact, they all agreed with those words but really couldn't change it.

"I think the most correct thing to do right now is to think independently.

And you don't need more than a second to understand that sending your witch is our best chance."

After a brief silence, the armored warrior who until two hours ago had been in the middle of the battle with her was the first to speak.

"I think she's right, there are many things to worry about, but right now, the most important thing is to stop Tamiel."

He finished the sentence and without hesitation created a bird of light and sent a note on it.

"Do you think he'll arrive in time?" Ann asked skeptically.

"I hope so. As long as Tamiel hasn't crossed the border, there's a chance."

---

About 10 minutes after sending the letter to the witch of the Kingdom of Light, Tamiel found himself near the border.

He feared meeting the guards and decided to go to the battlefield area, where soldiers from the Kingdom of Darkness were also present and could help him.

The problem was that he couldn't truly prove to them that he was on their side.

He didn't have enough time, so eventually, he decided to go to the battlefield area and hope everything would go well.

He glowed even more, which caused blood to drip from his nose due to the strain on his body.

He ran toward the battlefield and saw several soldiers looking at him confused. They all recognized him by face but didn't know what he was doing here.

He ran among them and ignored the questions thrown at him, he stood in the middle of the battlefield.

Usually, he would enter a shock due to all the chaos he saw at that moment, but he was in a terrible mental state and just wanted to find a breach to cross the border.

"Hey! Soldiers of the Kingdom of Darkness!" he shouted and created a light shining in every direction to emphasize his presence, "I brought you a hostage. He is the son of the witch from the neighboring kingdom, let me pass!"

He didn't fully think if this was a good idea but hoped it would work.

He created confusion in the battlefield and used it to advance into the Kingdom of Darkness.

The soldiers of the Kingdom of Darkness allowed him to proceed when they saw he was harmless to any of them.

He almost crossed the border, but at that exact moment, the only person who could ruin his plan arrived.

The old man guarding the parallel border reached the beginning of the battlefield just in time.

He created beams of light from his palms that passed through the entire battlefield and covered it completely.

It was a high-level technique where he used light as a unifying material that draws anyone who wants to come closer.

All soldiers of the Kingdom of Light began being drawn to him without really understanding what was happening.

The soldiers of the Kingdom of Darkness remained in place, confused.

Tamiel kept running and ignored it.

Alain was the only one his mind was occupied with.

He had just earlier given up his dreams in this new world, he didn't really feel like he belonged anymore, and even when he tried, this world just slapped him down.

At first, he didn't really want to return, subconsciously, he gave up any chance to continue in life, but immediately afterward, the light suddenly blinded and enveloped him.

He still didn't want to go back, but the light seemed to take him by force.

"No!!" Tamiel shouted and tried to pull him toward himself.

Alain still didn't fully understand what was happening here, but after the light pulled him, something inside him felt a small hope.

"Let go!" he shouted and punched Tamiel in the face with a fist surrounded by darkness.

The punch blinded Tamiel for a second, and that second was enough for the old man to continue pulling Alain toward him.
