[Third POV, Year 2001, Broken Loop, April 20th]
"JARVIS, can you please let me see the entirety of the processors Tony currently uses? Give me three images—one where it's assembled, one disassembled, and another that highlights a specific part when I ask you to, along with the information of that part, please."
"Understood. Here."
Instantly, the images on the projections changed. Now, instead of only two projections, there were three. One was currently blank, displaying a message that no part was being highlighted.
"Alright, now let's see... the transistors?"
Suddenly, in the third projection, the image of a planar transistor appeared. It displayed the size, the material it was made from, the date Tony built the processor—and, by extension, the transistor—and a note from Tony that read: "I need to figure out how to make them smaller."
"I think I can already see a way to make them better. JARVIS, can you please create a 3D model based on what I describe?"
"Understood. Please state the parameters and shape of the model, along with what it is."
"It will be a transistor, just not a planar one. Call it a Tri-Gate."
The projections shifted to a single, completely blank screen.
"Now make a copy of a normal transistor's structure. But make it so the gate wraps around three sides of a fin-shaped channel, from source to drain, instead of sitting on top of the channel like in a traditional 2D planar design."
JARVIS followed Adrian's instructions and quickly built the model Adrian had requested.
Meanwhile, Tony—immersed in his own work—had been half-listening. Hearing Adrian's directions to JARVIS made him stop what he was doing. He looked at the 3D model now projected, eyes narrowing in realization.
"Why haven't I thought of that before?"
He stood up from his chair and moved closer to the projection, then spoke again.
"Not bad, kid. JARVIS, tell me—how effective would it be compared to planar transistors?"
"Sir, the Tri-Gate transistors show a 37% improvement in performance and consume less than half the power compared to traditional planar transistors."
Hearing JARVIS, Adrian nodded to himself in thought.
So my theory was correct. I had a feeling when I disassembled the processors and read those books. Stark's notes and his own custom processors basically confirmed it. Technology is stupidly broken in the Marvel Universe.
"JARVIS, could we swap the material from silicon to carbon nanotubes?"
Adrian gave another instruction, and instantly, JARVIS updated the model, changing the material to carbon nanotubes. Tony then spoke again, his tone showing some surprise.
"While carbon nanotubes could offer faster operation, the number of transistors would be lower than with silicon under normal procedures. Still, with a few tweaks, we can solve that problem. You've got a bright mind, kid. Honestly, I thought it'd take at least a day to improve performance, but you really surprised me."
"As long as I can help."
Tony and Adrian started discussing technical details—how to implement and manufacture the idea. Meanwhile, Adrian kept thinking:
For some reason, even though this world uses 2000s technology to an extent, it doesn't match the capabilities it shows. It's like saying 1 + 1 = 5, and it somehow makes sense in a weird way. Not every piece of tech works logically, and that's probably how Tony managed to make JARVIS and his see-through phone.
Time flew while working and talking with Tony. Days passed. Weeks passed. Whenever Adrian ran into trouble figuring something out or needed to help Tony, he simply loaded his savefile. He even started saving every Monday so he'd have more time to brainstorm solutions if he needed to reload.
[Time Skip]
[Year 2001, Broken Loop, July 7th]
"Hey Tony, did you see the news?"
"Which one? Are you talking about that scandal where an actress claimed she was pregnant with my kid? The clout chasing was unreal, but she'll regret it pretty soon."
The two were currently working on a car—Happy's usual ride when picking up Adrian or driving Tony around. The engine had failed, and they were diagnosing the issue. The actual repairs would be handled by JARVIS.
"No, not that—although that was pretty funny. How many times has that kind of thing happened to you?"
"If I had a penny for every time something like that happened, I'd have four pennies. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened four times, you know? And if it's not that, then what is it? Spit it out, kid."
Adrian chuckled at Tony's words. Then he addressed JARVIS so Stark could see what he meant.
"JARVIS, there was something in the news today about some arrests in Florida. Can you show that in a projection, please?"
"Understood. Right away."
Suddenly, an image of an alligator, a drive-thru, and a paragraph of text appeared on the projection. JARVIS read aloud:
"A Florida man ordered food at a fast-food drive-thru. Everything seemed normal until he tossed a 3.5-foot live alligator through the window. It was not a prank. He now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and wildlife violations."
Tony's expression shifted from relaxed to weirded out.
"A fucking alligator? What size was it?"
"The size was—"
"STOP, STOP. I wasn't talking about that one. There's another."
The image started to change. Stark looked at Adrian, raising an eyebrow.
"If it's not that bizarre but hilarious headline, what is it you wanted to show me?"
Then the image of three men of Arab descent appeared, alongside an image of a flight school. JARVIS's voice filled the room again.
"Three individuals of Arab descent, who had been taking flight lessons, were arrested in Florida. The reasons for the arrest were not explicitly stated in the news."
"I assume this goes deeper than just that, right kid? JARVIS, show me whatever more information you can find on these individuals. Access any database needed."
"Understood, sir."
Instantly, JARVIS complied and began combing the web for deeper data. Meanwhile, Adrian started to explain why he brought it up.
"JARVIS, here's a little hint—they're connected to a group called ********. That connection is the reason behind the arrests."
Then JARVIS's voice returned as new text-filled images appeared on the projections.
"These three individuals are linked to the group *******—also known as 'The Base'—a pan-Islamist militant organization led by Sunni jihadists. They self-identify as the vanguard of a global Islamic revolution, aiming to unite the Muslim world under a supranational Islamic caliphate. While the group is mostly composed of Arabs, it includes people from various ethnicities. Their arrests were recorded in FBI databases as being related to national security endangerment and terrorism."
Tony's face turned serious. He immediately asked:
"What were their plans? Do we know anything?"
"Interrogations were conducted, but the same three individuals committed suicide while in custody. CIA and FBI databases contain no further relevant information."
Tony turned to Adrian, staring expectantly.
"What? You think I magically know something JARVIS doesn't?"
"…You don't?"
"…Alright, alright, I do know something. I did my own digging. Apparently, they came to execute a terrorist attack—obviously. But the thing is, the scale and damage they intended were massive. They planned to attack the World Trade Center. Honestly, I'm surprised the CIA and FBI didn't catch wind of it earlier. Attacks like this take at least a year of planning. And one of them was already in the States earlier this year."
The reason for saying this was to give somewhat of a hint or at least raise awareness so that Tony try to look into it and help to completely stop the attack.
"Oh, and i also wanted help in a personal project, what do you say Tony?"
Said Adrian pulling a piece of paper and then put it on the table, in the paper was a drawing of a robot, it was specifically the robot from the episode where Kill monger saves Tony stark from the attack in the middle east from the What if series.
