Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Intimidation

As Gusion spoke, he tilted his head, looking up at the woman on the rooftop who thought she was well hidden.

Kure Fusui, on the rooftop, met Gusion's eyes and felt a chill down her spine. Her internal danger alarms blared—she just wanted to run.

She'd never felt this from anyone before—not even from her genius brother, Raian. But this man below… was extremely dangerous!

Her assassin's training kept her trigger finger steady, but her palm was sweaty. Though she had her sights on his head, the danger alarm in her mind made it impossible to pull the trigger.

Who exactly was this wanted man?

Cling—!

Gusion flicked his finger, snapping the dagger in front of him. Half the blade spun away and lodged itself right into the sniper rifle's trigger guard on the rooftop.

The young Kure Clan sniper, who was about to pull the trigger, broke into a cold sweat—the opponent hadn't even cut his finger!

Gusion didn't look at the rooftop, just smiled, "Don't shake—if you misfire, a lot of people will die here."

After a few moments of awkward silence, the youth in front of Gusion raised his hand, signaling the others to back off. The rooftop snipers also withdrew.

He wiped his forehead, composed himself, and said, "Mr. Gusion, we were out of line."

Indeed, strength is everything.

If Gusion were just a normal criminal, he'd already be in jail. But he proved his power and only the strong are respected.

He could have killed, but instead used a more difficult method to disarm the would-be shooter, defusing the conflict.

The patrol leader wasn't stupid; to escalate further would be foolish.

"You're certainly a powerful martial artist. The Kure Clan welcomes you for martial arts exchange. We still have patrol duty—she'll take you to the main house."

A woman in her twenties emerged from the building—one of the rooftop snipers.

She was tall, wearing a black tactical vest that showed off her abs, shorts, and black thigh-high stockings, highlighting her athletic figure.

"Mr. Gusion, hello. I'm Kure Fusui. You can just call me Fusui."

She introduced herself, studying Gusion closely, but the dangerous feeling from before was gone.

Still, she didn't think her senses had been wrong—it just meant he could control his aura and killing intent perfectly.

Earlier, he must have been ready to fight them all, which was why she was so scared.

"Nice to meet you, Miss Fusui. I'm glad we resolved the misunderstanding. I visited the Wu Family before and heard the Kure clan is even more traditional. For a moment, I thought I was in the wrong place."

Gusion smiled. He wasn't lying—his background in this world, as arranged by the End Space, was solid. Other than a chance to become a Kengan fighter at the start, his origin was also traceable.

He'd originally smuggled himself from a small country to Japan, but was born in the Eastern country, and his background included connections with the Wu Family there.

"I'm embarrassed, Mr. Gusion. Please follow me. As for martial arts exchanges, we'll have to ask the clan leader first."

Fusui was a bit ashamed. As assassins, they kept tabs on dangerous people.

Records showed that Gusion initially got into trouble with smugglers over money and killed the boss. He could have left, but instead wiped out the whole organization—brutally.

To them, such a person was too dangerous to be allowed to roam freely.

Oddly enough for assassins, the Kure Clan wasn't full of psychos who loved killing. Killing was just business. Who likes their job? Except for outliers, like her brother Raian, a notorious problem child who enjoyed slaughter.

"Mr. Gusion, can we take the back road?"

On the way, Fusui hesitated.

"Oh? Is there a problem with the main road?"

Gusion was puzzled. She didn't seem like she was leading him into an ambush. Why the detour?

"I have a brother—he's usually up ahead. He has a bad temper, and I'm afraid you'll start fighting."

She explained, realizing this only after they started walking. In her mind, letting her dangerous brother meet someone like Gusion unsupervised would be a disaster.

News of a strong outsider had probably already spread throughout the clan. Her brother might be looking for Gusion right now.

If her hot-tempered brother found out Gusion had intimidated the patrol, he'd probably want to kill Gusion to show the clan's strength.

Fusui thought Gusion was strong, but her brother was also a monster. If they fought, the outcome was unpredictable.

"Oh, sounds interesting. I came here for martial arts sparring—if your brother is strong, that suits me just fine."

Gusion smiled. He knew exactly who her brother was—the Kure Clan genius, Kure Raian, who could fully liberate his potential and enjoyed killing. Questionable character aside, his strength was top-tier.

In the original, Raian fought Tokita Ohma in the second round of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament and lost, but that didn't mean he was weaker.

Raian was too arrogant—he tried to overpower Ohma with raw stats, but Ohma also had a similar technique and beat him with skill. In reality, Raian had a bunch of techniques he hadn't even used.

Because the Kure Clan's Removal has fewer side effects than Advance, Raian could use it freely, while Ohma had to risk his life. In a real death match, the outcome would be uncertain.

"No, Mr. Gusion, please come with me—the main house is just ahead."

Fusui looked anxious. She didn't want her brother to fight Gusion—her gut told her Raian would die!

She grabbed Gusion's hand and rushed him forward. Soon, they reached the clan compound.

Just as she sighed in relief, hoping the clan leader would arrange for someone more stable and strong to spar, a voice made her tense up again.

"Yo, I finally found you."

The voice came from above the torii gate—a young man with short pale blond hair and a muscular body was squatting there, showing no respect for the gods.

His black eyes stared at Gusion like a beast eyeing its prey, his killing intent unmasked.

"Raian! Don't mess around before we see the clan leader!"

Fusui shouted, sweat beading on her brow.

Raian jumped down from the torii, landing in front of Gusion and Fusui.

His muscles filled out his white vest, and the veins in his arms left no doubt about his strength. This was the Kure Clan's Devil—feared even within the clan.
