Chapter 28 – The Official Meme
Gustavo didn't know what to do anymore.
He had only answered an innocent question on Jimmy Fallon's show, and now, Megan Fox, Gal Gadot and Scarlett Johansson were talking about him publicly.
"This doesn't make sense!" he muttered to himself, still laughing as he scrolled through social media.
Brazil was in a complete frenzy.
Hollywood was laughing at the situation.
And Gustavo?
He just wanted to process all of this in a dignified way.
That's when an idea popped into his head.
He took out his cell phone, opened the front camera and threw himself on the couch in a dramatic way, closing his eyes and letting his arm fall down, as if he had literally fainted.
On Twitter and Instagram, he posted the photo with the caption:
"Me after seeing Megan Fox, Gal Gadot and Scarlett Johansson's answers."
THE INTERNET EXPLODES
In a matter of minutes, the post went viral in an absurd way.
In the comments, Brazilians were out of control:
— LOL, Gustavo is just like us!
— I WOULD DO EXACTLY THE SAME!
— This guy's reality has become a fanfic and he knows it!
And, of course, the meme pages wasted no time.
Gustavo's photo was edited in every possible way:
— Him passed out with a montage of the three women in the background.
— Him passed out holding an Oscar in one hand and a heart in the other.
— Him passed out with the phrase "DREAM COME TRUE" written on top.
But what Gustavo didn't expect was that the women in the top 3 would comment on the post.
First, Megan Fox responded on Twitter:
— Get up, Gustavo. I want to see you on the next red carpet.
THE INTERNET ALMOST EXPLODED.
— OMG, DID THIS BECOME A FLIRT?!
— Gustavo, for the love of God, ANSWER THIS PROPERLY!
A little later, Gal Gadot responded on Instagram:
— Hahahaha, that was good! You deserve all the praise.
And finally, Scarlett Johansson was even more direct:
— I hope someone called a doctor!
THAT'S IT. CHAOS HAD ENTERED.
Gustavo Salles' name became a worldwide trending topic.
The story was on all the gossip sites.
And him?
He could only laugh alone on the couch, unable to believe what was happening.
— My life has become a huge meme… and I'm loving it.
He picked up his phone again and recorded a story.
— Can someone pinch me? Because I really can't believe this.
And, of course…
The collective outburst only grew.
Chapter 29 – At Adele's Concert
New York was lit up that night, but nothing shone brighter than the Madison Square Garden sign, where Adele would perform one of her most anticipated shows of the year.
For Gustavo, that was a dream come true.
Adele was one of his favorite singers, and when he received a VIP invitation to watch the show, he didn't think twice before accepting.
He was excited. Very excited.
"This is going to be amazing!" he said to himself, as he adjusted his black jacket and got out of the car that dropped him off at the exclusive entrance to the event.
But what he didn't know was that that night would become much more talked about than he imagined.
Because, without planning it, he would end up singing, dancing and going viral alongside Kendall Jenner.
As soon as Gustavo entered the VIP box, he felt his heart race with excitement.
The ambiance was elegant, with soft lights and a perfect view of the stage, still covered by a curtain. He was about to grab a drink at the bar when he heard a familiar voice calling him.
"Gustavo?!"
He turned around and, to his surprise, Kendall Jenner was there, smiling at him. She was wearing a tight, sophisticated black outfit, with her hair tied in a high ponytail.
Gustavo couldn't hide his smile. "Kendall! What are you doing here?"
She laughed. "Same thing as you, I guess. I love Adele."
He pointed to himself. "Me too! This show is one of the most anticipated moments of my life."
Kendall laughed and took a sip of the drink she was holding. "Then I guess we'll enjoy it together."
As soon as the lights at Madison Square Garden went out, the audience erupted in cheers and applause. The curtain slowly opened, and there was Adele, in a long black dress, holding the microphone with that intense look and powerful voice.
She started singing "Hello", and Gustavo felt like he wouldn't be able to stay still.
"OH MY GOD!" he exclaimed, running his hand over his face, completely covered in goosebumps.
Kendall laughed at his reaction.
"You really love her, huh?"
"OBVIOUSLY! I'M READY TO SING UNTIL I LOSE MY VOICE!"
And that's exactly what he did.
With each song, Gustavo sang at the top of his lungs.
When Adele started "Rolling in the Deep", he got so excited that he started dancing and jumping, feeling the energy of the audience.
That's when Kendall joined in the fun.
"Okay, if you're dancing, I'm going too!" — she said, taking his hand and starting to move to the rhythm of the music.
They sang together, laughed, danced without caring about anything.
But what neither of them realized was that there were people filming.
Lots of people.
And, of course… the videos went viral on the internet in minutes.
On Twitter and Instagram, the videos exploded.
— Gustavo Salles and Kendall Jenner singing Adele together. This guy is really living the best life possible.
— Imagine going to a concert and suddenly seeing an Oscar winner and a supermodel having a blast on the dance floor?!
— They look like two kids who just met at recess and became best friends.
The images ended up on all the gossip sites.
And then, the inevitable happened.
The rumors started.
The internet went into a frenzy.
— Are Gustavo and Kendall just hanging out or is this something more?!
— This guy has already been mentioned by Megan Fox, Gal Gadot, Scarlett Johansson and now he's dancing with Kendall Jenner. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!
— Hollywood clearly LOVES Gustavo Salles. Now he's even in the Kardashian-Jenner family circles.
And Gustavo?
He only found out about all this the next morning.
When Gustavo woke up in the hotel and picked up his phone, he was shocked by the notifications.
He opened Instagram and saw that his DMs were a mess.
And then he saw the videos.
— Oh, no…
Selton, who was staying at the same hotel, entered the room with a coffee in his hand.
— So, how was the show?
Gustavo held up his phone with the Twitter screen open.
— I went to see Adele and now the world thinks I'm dating Kendall Jenner.
Selton spat out his coffee from laughing so hard.
— MY GOD! THIS JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER!
Gustavo ran his hand over his face, still laughing.
"This is out of control."
He grabbed his phone and decided to post something.
On Twitter, he wrote:
"Went to see Adele and came back with a new conspiracy theory about my life. 10/10, would do it again."
And of course...
