Chapter 8 - The Ideals of Those Who Are at War

As I dropped into the facility from the ceiling, my drop was accelerating at an alarming rate that made me think that I was going to be flattened when my robot body contacted the floor below me.

It came as a surprise to me that my body was not even slightly injured when my feet contacted the floor. Instead, the reinforced glass only cracked around where I landed.

This room was lit up brightly by a set of massive round light sources that were being filtered by the white shielding that surrounded them.

The area around me had a set of massive cylinder-shaped glass containers that had different alien species floating in a light grey liquid. These different creatures were separated into four groups, with each group taking up a single row of the containers.

In the first set that was to my far left, I saw that there were reptile creatures being stored. The next group was a set of different types of arachnids. To my right, I saw that they had different aquatic creatures that seemed to stare at me as I investigated their containers. Then, the final type of creatures that were being contained were insects.

There were only two Terran scientists that were currently in this room of the facility, and they began to scream as soon as they saw me walking around examining the containers in the room.

As I walked around the room, the sound of the screaming began to be annoying, so I chose to silence it forever.

The male scientist tried to make a run for the he turned around to look at me to see if I was still there, and he fell over a set of wires that were in front of him.

I then started to walk towards the door that he was trying to reach to get out of the room, and I stopped moving, being only two feet away from him. The next thing that I did was grab him by the throat, but I could not squeeze the life out of him because he was an innocent person that did not have anything to do with the objective of our mission.

So I placed him back down on the ground since I saw only here for the Paradisus.

Why are you hesitating? Just do it extinguish the light from his eyes because someone who is so easily filled with fear at the site of the unknown is not worthy of becoming part of our collective.

I chose to ignore the words of the ai and started to walk forward, but as I began to step past the body, I felt a sudden shift in my perspective of the facility as I began to see the pool of water as if I was no longer in control and it was boiling red once again.

It seems that I will have to take control of this situation if I want to ensure that there are no weak-willed people in our collective.

Then I saw that the ai stepped onto the skull of the terrified Terran scientist. The head shattered in a single stomp.

I thought that it was very terrifying how cold and logical that the ai was. I honestly thought that my personality would have started to infect him and change the way he behaved in battle.

"You see this how you get rid of the garbage. Trash deserves to tossed correct." He said as he threw the remaining parts of the scientist's body through the opening in the ceiling that I had created to enter the building.

Then, as soon as the body was tossed out of the building, I saw that the female scientist was kneeling at the ai's feet with her face planted in the floor.

"You are the almighty ruler of the galaxy. It would be a waste of my time and energy to resist you, so I have decided that I will serve you now. What do you wish for me to do to help you obtain whatever it is that has brought you here?" the female scientist was asking in a tone that told that she was afraid of the power that the ai had.

"You will serve me by providing me with a fast path to the control room for your ming drones. If your intel is reliable, I will reward you by freeing you from the prison that is your flesh."

At the sound of the offer that the ai part of my personality had offered her, she seemed to be no longer afraid and suddenly became filled with what looked like joy to me.

"Allow me to guide you to the room where the drones are controlled". She said as she waved her right hand for the ai to follow her.

Then the ai moved my body behind her, always keeping a good six feet behind her. As I observed the area around me, I saw that we had gone to the left.

The hallway was long and narrow, with a door only showing up every few yards or so.

She went all the way to the end of the hallway and inserted a card that allowed the final door of the hallway that was to my right open.

"This is an express elevator that does not stop for anyone until it reaches the desired floor. I thought that you would prefer to have the least amount of interference that you could while you are on this mission". She said as she bowed to the ai and let him step into the elevator first.

"Good work. You are getting closer to receiving your reward." The ai said as he stepped into the elevator.

She followed him and stayed quiet for the entire ride after she pressed a blue button that was to the right of the elevator door.

Even though I did not always think that I could agree with the means of how the ai seemed to get exactly what it was that he was after and influence others with only a few words. The results speak volumes to how much that I will need to improve to ensure that he does not have to take control of my body again.

When the elevator stopped moving, I saw that it was opening to a room with a massive computer terminal that was blinking blue and green. Behind this terminal, I saw a pair of bald male Terrans operating the computer.

Then, as soon as he saw them, I noticed that the ai ran at them and killed the first one with a single swing of my right arm that aimed at the back of its neck.

"What did you do to Steve!" the other person yelled out of fear as he fell out of his chair and began to be frozen at the sight of the dead body that was now five feet in front of him.

"If you do not want to end up like your partner, then you would want to prove to me that you are worth keeping alive." The ai said to the terrified Terran as he stepped onto the body of the dead Terran in the room clearly on purpose.

Then the male Terran looked at the female scientist and said "Why would you willingly follow this machine? I know that you were taught the laws of The Terran Collective ever since you were a child."

"I follow him because he will lead us to a new life where we are not bound by the limitations of our flesh. That is why I forsake all that I have learned as a Terran because soon enough, I will not be a being of flesh. I will so much more.

"It does not matter to me what you offer. I will not ever betray the system by which I was raised. I am a proud member of The Terran Collective, and I will never betray our way of life." The ma;e said as I saw him spit on the face of my robot body.

"Then if you are set in your ways, I only have a single option of what I must do." He said as he killed him in the same way that he did the last guy.

He then tossed him aside and started to press some buttons on the computer that stopped the drilling, and then he gave me full control of my body once again.
