Dax and Rael walked back from the Moonstone Temple, but something had changed. The temple behind them still glowed, its light spilling into the sky like a beacon. Rael was unusually quiet. He kept glancing at Dax, like he was trying to solve a puzzle.
Dax's hands were clenched. The scroll burned in his pocket like it had its own heartbeat.
"I am going to see Elder Vaughn and have him explain this," he muttered.
Rael simply nodded and followed.
"He always knows, right?" Rael suddenly asked.
"Huh…who?" Dax, whose mind was somewhere else, asked distractedly.
"The seer," replied Rael.
"Oh, him. Yes, but he prefers to give hints." Dax answered.
Rael nodded.
Inside Elder Vaughn's stone cottage, the old man was hunched over a pile of scrolls. He looked up suddenly, his eyes narrowing at the window.
"The path just split," he whispered.
A gust of wind blew in. Moira appeared from the shadows behind him, making him jump.
