Chapter 44 - Removing Two Heads

Amelia was just one of them.

Carlotta also wrote a letter to Doris, expressing her gratitude for yesterday's banquet and her desire to treat the other party to ice cream.

She even wrote a letter to Camella, saying that she had heard of some misunderstandings and wanted to invite Camella for ice cream to clear them up.

Ice cream was just an excuse; Carlotta wanted the three noble ladies to focus their attention on her so that they could provide help when she needed it.

Unfortunately, Clorinde Austin was too far away, and she didn't have a good reason to invite her over. However, having three noble ladies should be enough.

The day's classes passed in the blink of an eye.

When the academy was over, Carlotta finally dropped the three pre-written letters into the mailbox and leisurely left the academy alone.

...

Hans Hotel.

"She's out, she's out!"

At this moment, Garran Holtvik, who was practicing earth magic and keeping an eye on Caerwyn Academy, looked in the direction of the academy with excitement, feeling as if his hard work had finally paid off.

Hearing Garran's shout, Bram, Ulric, and the other two quickly came to the window and looked toward the academy.

They immediately spotted the girl with red twin tails in the crowd, walking alone into the distance. Their eyes lit up, and their breathing unconsciously quickened.

The opportunity had come!

Bram touched his bald head and grinned, saying, "Get ready to move."

They had rehearsed this operation many times in their hearts, ensuring that they could quickly eliminate the target, then escape along the planned route and leave the capital by boat before the security bureau could catch them.

During the day, the capital was filled with dense crowds, making it difficult for them to accomplish anything without causing a commotion. Therefore, their actions had to be swift and precise.

...

Carlotta didn't know which hotel Bram and the others were stationed in, but that wasn't important. She knew that when she left Caerwyn Academy alone, she was likely already being watched.

Right now, Bram and the others were undoubtedly waiting for a good opportunity to strike, and she would, of course, provide them with one.

She slowed her pace and walked leisurely, stopping by a newsstand to buy a newspaper.

She walked while reading it, appearing completely unaware of her surroundings.

As she walked, she arrived at a street with slightly fewer people, surrounded by residential houses.

Since it wasn't yet time for people to return from work, Caerwyn Academy's dismissal time was naturally much earlier than the end of the workday, there weren't many people around.

The environment was quiet and cold, with sparse trees standing on either side, their leaves falling in the breeze.

Carlotta seemed to be reading the newspaper, walking slowly, but in reality, she was paying close attention to her surroundings and had already noticed the approach of five burly men.

Bram and the other four boldly walked over, pretending to be passersby trying to walk past Carlotta.

They had never met Carlotta face-to-face before, and in their perception, Carlotta obviously didn't know them.

They couldn't possibly imagine that their information was no longer a secret to Carlotta.

Through repeated intelligence gathering, Carlotta had already gained a clear understanding of Bram and the others' pasts and their own strengths.

Noticing the five approaching, she knew the time to act had come. A sharp glint flashed in her red eyes.

She would not show the slightest mercy to anyone who intended to harm her!

Bram, Ulric, and Garran walked in front of Carlotta, then suddenly turned around, grinning fiercely at her.

Bram and Ulric, who practiced knight skills, had somehow already drawn short swords and were thrusting them toward Carlotta.

Meanwhile, Garran, who practiced earth magic, pointed at the ground beneath Carlotta, causing it to suddenly sink, aiming to restrict her movements.

They all thought that with their sudden attack, they could kill Carlotta on the spot in one move, and were already thinking about how to escape after the deed was done.

However, what happened next left the three of them in shock.

Carlotta, as if she had known they would attack, jumped backward to avoid the effects of Garran's magic.

As she jumped back, Carlotta threw out the Flame-Spitting Bear in front of her and pulled on the necklace around her neck, causing the Rose Cross to appear in her hand.

Elven Butterfly Dance, Elven Phantom Sound, Elven Light !

Carlotta had already planned out her attack. The first three movements burst forth simultaneously, and with a turn, she enveloped the other two unprepared fourth-tier apprentices behind her.

In the next instant, a cold light flashed, and two large heads immediately flew into the air, blood spurting out and staining the street red.

All of this was completed in the blink of an eye. In that instant, Carlotta took out the Oil Card and lightly brushed it against the Rose Cross, causing a large amount of kerosene to spread across the blade.

At that moment, the Flame-Spitting Bear spewed fire forward, the intense flames forcing Bram and Ulric to retreat.

Carlotta quickly turned around and closed the distance. The Rose Cross, coated with kerosene, passed by the Flame-Spitting Bear, catching a spark.

In the next moment, the Rose Cross's blade burst into flames, the intense light dazzling.

Carlotta swiftly moved past the Flame-Spitting Bear, closing in on Bram and Ulric in a flash. She swung the flaming Rose Cross down, the fiery slash particularly glaring in their eyes.

They were caught off guard, never expecting that what they had envisioned as a sudden attack would turn into such a direct confrontation.

In their haste, they raised their weapons to clash with Carlotta. After a series of collisions, they were forced to retreat due to their lack of preparation.

Large sparks splattered onto them, the searing heat causing them to grimace in pain, and fine beads of sweat broke out on their foreheads.

What on earth was going on?

Bram and Ulric were screaming in their hearts, completely baffled by the situation.

Garran, who was further away, was also shocked.

He quickly reacted, crouched down, and slapped the ground, channeling his mana into the earth, causing subtle changes.

Immediately afterward, large earth spikes suddenly erupted from the ground beneath Carlotta.

Carlotta had anticipated this. She knew that earth magic path at the apprentice level most commonly used earth spikes.

And such attacks were not unpredictable; before the spikes emerged, the ground would produce slight tremors.

As long as one paid close attention to the earth and moved away from the spot when these tremors occurred, it was enough to avoid the spikes entirely.
