Chapter 50: | The Queen's Daily Life
---
Hundreds of thousands of meters deep beneath the seabed of the Lake of Dreadnought, there lay the hidden realm of Atlantis.
It was a place unknown to everyone, even the Emperors of this day knew nothing of the kingdom that thrived beneath the tranquil surface of the lake.
Peace remained.
The invasion of the magus or their abduction stopped.
The beautiful and all-powerful Queen stopped their advances and raided their facilities.
Deep in the palace of Acoustine.
The maids chatted in a hushed tone as they went about their daily lives, just as usual.
Clara smiled as she whispered.
"Hey, Julian, can't you see how beautiful the queen is today?!"
Julian's face blushed.
"You know, right, Clara? Clara, I wonder how her Majesty stays that beautiful even though she's hundreds of years old."
Then an old and raspy voice echoed.
"Julian, you can't be badmouthing the queen, can you?"
Julian scratched her head as she smiled.
"Of course not, Madame Elisa. I'm just praising her Majesty's skincare, as how can someone stay as youthful as her even though she's hundreds of years old?"
Clara enthusiastically nodded.
"Right, Madame Elisa, her Majesty is just too beautiful, and I wonder when will she get married."
Julian nodded.
"I wonder when her Majesty will consider her marriage?"
Elisa smacked both of their heads as she ranted.
"Gosh, you can't speak like that, Clara and Julian!"
Elisa pointed down the hallway.
"Now, do your walk and stop being so chatty."
Clara muttered.
"Right, right, the ever-grumpy Madame Elisa."
Julian giggled.
"Take care, Madame Elisa."
Elisa smiled.
"Hmph, these two troublemakers. When will they behave properly?"
Then a soft and gentle voice echoed from the door behind her.
"Elisa, did you bring it?"
Elisa rushed.
"Coming!"
The sun cascaded towards the lush verdant grass as the trees swayed in the wind.
There, a small house was erected near the lake, as a beautiful woman with amber-like eyes sat on the ground, reading a book.
Her beautiful brown hair cascaded across her shoulders as her glasses gleamed in the sunlight.
Her hands moved gracefully as she switched the page.
The sound of frogs croaking, crickets singing, and birds whistling could be heard across the forest.
Then.
Footsteps.
Elara frowned.
These footsteps felt unfamiliar, they were not those of Neriadna or Elisa, whom I had ordered to retrieve those items, nor were they from those cute maids.
Perhaps a magus?
Elara's hand grabbed a single leaf falling from above.
Then.
Her hands blurred.
THUD!
Something fell to the ground.
Based on the sound it made, it was neither a bird.
Elara's gaze turned cold.
Her killing intent gushed out from her body, it was incredibly thick and suffocating.
Then her gaze shifted and swept across the forest.
She couldn't find it, the one that hit earlier, it had disappeared like a ghost.
"Good grief."
The wind shook as leaves began to fall from the tree, but something weird happened, the leaves didn't fall to the ground but instead levitated.
Elara clenched her hand into a fist.
DRIP.
DRIP.
DRIP.
Blood began to fall to the ground, onto her head and clothes, and into her book.
But in the next second, all of the blood disappeared.
Elara sighed as she continued reading.
Minutes passed.
Elisa walked along the pebbled pavement as she hummed, carrying a basket and books in each of her hands.
Her eyeglasses stood prominent as her maid outfit swayed in the wind.
Elisa was old by the standards of humans, but she wasn't human but a humanoid.
She was a horror of the deep, she was a Kraken, a being that had existed for thousands of years, one of the oldest in this world.
She was Ashin Sae Acoustine's right-hand woman.
She had served the Acoustine kingdom for years, and Elara, to her, was like a daughter.
Elisa was not married, as she deemed it unimportant.
Elisa had stayed virgin from her youth until now.
Her curves were beautiful, her face was top-class, only second to Elara.
There were suitors lining up for thousands of miles, waiting to be entertained by Elisa, but she ignored them and disdained them like bugs.
Her eyes perked up.
"Another assassination attempt, huh, your Majesty?"
Elara shook her head.
"As you can see, another foolish one."
Elisa smiled as tentacles broke free from her finger.
Her tentacles were unlike those of any other Kraken, they possessed a pair of maws and an intellect far beyond that of a mere pet.
The corpse hanging from the tree disappeared in the next second as it was devoured by the tentacle.
Elisa's voice echoed.
"Good job, Sani."
As her tentacle shivered from the compliment and blushed before returning to its original state, a finger.
Elara smiled.
"You should think of your marriage, Elisa."
But Elisa shook her head.
Elara pressed.
"Elisa, you're a thousand-year-old fossil, but still a virgin. You should consider marriage."
Elisa smirked as she laid a cloth on the ground and began arranging the food.
"Same as you, your Majesty, aren't you old enough to be married?"
Elisa contemplated and complained.
"Your ancestor, Ashin Sae Acoustine, had like a hundred concubines at that age."
Elara smiled.
"I am not like her, a bitch to the very end."
Elisa giggled.
"It's rare to see you cursing these days. And are you still on about that search?"
Elara nodded.
"Hmm, I am still on about that search. I don't know who he is, but I feel like when I am near him, I would recall everything from my past."
Elisa nodded.
"What a lucky lad he is to be able to ensnare you even after the afterlife! I couldn't help but imagine how handsome he is."
Elara's smile turned twisted.
"Yeah, I wonder how handsome he is in this life, and I really want to see and feel him right now."
Elisa sighed.
"It seems that you're still unable to fix that twisted side of yours, dear."
Elara's smile turned creepy, yet still beautiful.
"What do you mean, Elisa! Just thinking about him makes me wet! It makes me want to strangle and torture him!"
Elisa only smiled.
She knew Elara's true nature.
Elara may appear innocent and beautiful on the outside, but deep inside her beautiful facade, something truly twisted was in there.
Elara's twisted side began to show when she was only 3 years old.
She would visit the dungeon again and again.
Elisa was worried at Elara's behavior at that time, so she followed her secretly inside the dungeon, only to find something horrifying.
Her innocence at that time was nothing but a facade.
Her visits to the dungeon were nothing short but to torture the criminals in there, she would whip, remove their nails, or their limbs slowly.
In her years of existence, there was nothing as twisted yet innocent as Elara.
There were no two souls inside her body, nor did she have a split personality, but it was... it was her true self.
Elisa erased those thoughts from her mind.
As she gazed at Elara's silhouette, beautiful, truly beautiful.
"Hey, Elara, if... if you find that man named Alister Von Fai... would you torture him, strangle him, just like what you did to those prisoners in your childhood?"
Elara smiled innocently, almost too creepy.
"I wouldn't do that since there can only be a single Alister Von Fai, and I don't want to break him apart. So my answer to your question is a no."
Elisa's smile broke.
"Then why are you trying so hard to find him?"
Elara just gazed at Elisa, deadpan.
"Elisa, isn't it common sense that I marry him, keep him locked in my palace, and live a happy life with him inside here?"
Elara's smile darkened.
"But first, I should get rid of those nuisances before he arrives."
Elisa's expression darkened.
"You can't be thinking of getting rid of the Emperor of Omniscience and the Emperor of Life?"
Elara's smile deepened.
"You're on the right track, Elisa. I am thinking of getting rid of all of them."
Elisa was confused.
"But how? Your strength is not enough. Your bloodline is an auxiliary type, so how can you get rid of those monsters?"
Elara's smile twisted.
"Who says that I'd be the one to kill them?"
Realization hit Elisa as she pulled books and scrolls from her inventory.
"It can't be that you're thinking of using the knowledge of the magus to get rid of them?"
Elara flipped to the next page.
"You are right about that. I could just use the excuse that the magus killed their Emperors and absorb those kingdoms into mine."
Elisa nearly fainted at this malicious yet dubious plan.
If this plan succeeded, the citizens of the realm of water would only think that the magus killed the Emperors.
And any evidence that pointed it to Elara would be cut off.
Elara smiled as she read her book.
"You're quick to follow, Elisa, and that's why I like you."
