A true massacre…
Arms, legs, and heads separated from their bodies…
Some had been cleanly pierced in the abdomen…
While a minority were cut in half in an almost inhuman way…
Although the victims of this massacre were not at all innocent, such a serious crime would certainly be news in all the newspapers tomorrow. It would further affect her career, increasing the rumors that were being spread about her and her recent promotion from Sergeant to Police Captain of the most important city in Jyera…
"What kind of force would be needed to cut a human being in half like that?" asked the detective in charge of this crime scene.
"The weapon used here was a katana, we know which group uses that type of weapon…" replied Captain Valentina Morales.
The expert approached the detective and the Captain and said in a fearful tone while swallowing hard:
"All the dead here are from the Murone Mafia… Not only that, but the lack of other people's bodies, and the way their bodies are positioned… It seems like they fought against just one individual."
"Do you think it was him?" the detective asked, looking at the Captain.
Valentina then pointed her finger at a camera at the entrance of the place.
"We'll find out soon." She said as she left the crime scene.
As soon as she left the detective in charge at the scene, Police Captain Valentina went outside and took a deep breath…

The annoying sounds that had been bothering her for several days were getting worse. According to the so-called "system", there was only one day left until the apocalypse… Not that she believed it…
Six days ago, Valentina Morales was in the spotlight of the entire Capital of Jyera. Her father, Luis Morales, the former Police Captain of the city of Aethoria, was promoted to commissioner. And he had recommended his daughter as his replacement.
Valentina Nepo was what many people called her behind her back. But both she and her father knew the truth.
At 29 years old, Valentina Morales had made a meteoric rise through the Aethoria police department since joining it at the age of 18. Achieving promotion after promotion, she became a detective at just 23 years old.
Most would be satisfied with her achievements, but Valentina had her father and grandfather as role models. And she continued to follow in their footsteps, she took all the department's courses and passed them all, and even completed the requirements to advance to her current rank of Sergeant. Her sheer number of solved cases surpassed that of any other detective of a similar age by almost twice as many. In addition, her morality and principles made her one of the few police officers who did not accept bribes from the remaining Mafia in the capital.
Not only that, her fight against these remnants that still survived and prospered in the shadows of Aethoria also made her name quite popular among the citizens of the city, as a symbol of the fight against organized crime. But among some of her co-workers, politicians, and reporters of dubious character, they always saw the beautiful young police officer only by her surname and her origins; all her hard work and dedication to the law were seen as nepotism created by her father.
It was in the midst of all this scandal and job changes that the strange system emerged…

[Main Quest]
…
The strange system knew many things about her, and worried about the origin of such a thing, she went to her father looking for answers. At first, her father doubted her words, but in the end, after some thought, he said he would investigate… But even after six days, he hadn't said anything to her.
She had ignored all the strange missions the system had asked her to complete during the past six days. And despite enjoying her new strength, speed, and stamina that came from the strange ability called level 1 mutant, Valentina had such a high moral sense that it prevented her from breaking any law. Even when there were certain loopholes, she refused to follow that path.
That strange system asked her to obtain things that she didn't have the money to buy, or didn't have the authority to obtain. Furthermore, it gave a short deadline for everything, leaving no room for her to use legal processes to obtain any of them.
To make matters worse, since yesterday, people have been getting sick all over the city, everyone's pets have died, and the CDC has not responded to police calls. The feds have become incommunicado, and the National Guard, along with the military, have refused her request for support, saying they were overwhelmed as well.
The question was, overwhelmed with what? It was only at night, after a stressful day at work, when she was at home, that her father came to visit her…
"We've been abandoned, daughter…"
"What do you mean, father?"
"They gave me the position of commissioner because the former commissioner had advance information about this mysterious disease that killed the animals, and now it's affecting humans too…"
Valentina put her hands over her mouth in disbelief. "So the apocalypse of that system…"
Luis Morales stood up and went to his daughter's liquor cabinet, pouring himself a shot, drinking it, and then pouring two more, giving one to his daughter.
"You know that our family has never had a good image within the Jyera Council… Everyone uses their surnames with pride, while ours only brings shame. Your grandfather and I worked our entire lives to change that image, but in the end they never cared… I was the perfect scapegoat to take over everything, while everyone who was "important" fled to the new solar system."
"So the Military? The National Guard? The Feds?"
"Yes, all the high-ranking officers have already boarded the Mothership along with the Council and fled."
Completely disappointed and without the means to do anything, Valentina drank with her father until late at night…

The next day, she woke up early to the system alerts notifying her that there were 6 hours left until the apocalypse began…
Before even getting out of bed, Valentina glanced at the strange missions that the system constantly asked her to complete.
"There's still some time… Maybe I should try to do some of them?" Valentina said, for the first time, her moral compass hanging on the scales of justice…
But what Valentina didn't know was that earlier today, with the apocalypse about to begin, someone also woke up with devious plans for her police station…
