That night each of them sleep in their own bed. Tossing and turning, each thinking of the other. Simon is staring at outside the window till his eyes close. While Lisa continue to watch the night sky till the morning comes. A new day with a a girl giggling on her bed.
Simon in his office is signing his paper work. The HR personal have come up to his office. She hands him the papers that needs his signature. He see that she is wearing a ring on her index finger.
"Ms Gan, you like to wear rings?"
"Yes, rings or diamond rings are pretty isn't it."
"Yes but everyone is wearing the same designs."
"Well there is some of us actually draw out the design that we want and get a master to make it out. It will be the one and only ring."
"There is?!"
He smile and read those papers but nothing gets into his mind. Thu she ask her for the details before signing it. After she leaves, he look through the catalogues of rings that he have bring with him from home. Since she said she prefer square shape and afraid that the stone will drop, he keep that in mind. He begin to study the types of rings and the designs. The current trends are gorgeous but there is none that suits what he is wanting to get for her. He walk over to take an A4 paper from the copier machine. He walk to the bar with a pencil in hand. He starts to draw.
While at the third floor their work is begin got loosen a bit so Lis'a staff are talking bout the celebrities getting marry this month. They talk about the wedding picture that are released to the press. She walk over and have a look in their monitor. Yes indeed, it is beautiful. Much better than her's. A few years back, they just take in a rush and does everything accordingly to the photographer. Even the wedding gown she just wear it because it is on the mannequin. Lisa feels sad at that moment that the biggest day event in her life is done in a flash like this.
Simon every day refine his drawing. He keep his drafts in a folder neatly so that lisa won't see them if she happen to be in the same room. It must be a surprise for her. In the meanwhile, they continue to spend time go camping in the wild when they have the time. At night when she is asleep, he turn on the light at the front seat so that he can work on his drafts. He comes up with a few designs. He is not sure which is will Lisa like most yet he cannot ask her.
One of those days, after a business lunch, he goes to a private ring maker. They sit down and he show the master on the drawings that he came up with. The master look at it and start to ask questions. Eventually ask what type of stone is he looking at.
"What do you suggest?"
"If this is a wedding ring, make it a diamond ring. Instead of a traditional setting. Have the stone, sit in a hole. While the ring have a square surface. I will draw a 2D set for you to see. The one that you approve, i will make it for you."
"When will you send over the drafts?"
"I will email you within three days."
Thus Simon paid for the deposit for the master to start on the design. He walks out the studio happy and stare at the receipt that he had received. He fold it all corners neatly and stuff it into his wallet. Feeling light as if a huge rock have lifted off his heart. Peter who is waiting for him in the car watch his boss smile as he open the car door.
"Let's go back to the office."
Lisa meanwhile is still in a bomb chat with her friends. Everyday they ask about her boss. Lisa choose not to say anything and remain silence. While they continue to chat nonstop. The HR manager call her and ask if she submit her application for the leave on the last time that she did not turn up for work. Naturally she did it online. The HR manger Insist that there isn't and will be deducting her pay this month. Lisa protest and the HR manger put the phone down. Lisa is frustrated and wonder what went wrong. Next round, she will personally hand in her application via paper to the HR department. An hour before the end of the day, the HR manager call again. She said that her department have a complaint from other departments on music issue. A warning will be email out and she should tell her own staff to do better. Also tea time is too long, wasting the company's time. Therefore they are not allow to step outside the building. They can purchase from the cafe at the ground floor. Lisa swallow her anger as she listen to what manager Gan have to say.
"Also the last point, please don't go up to the CEO office anytime you please. His office have sensitive documents that are important. Any news leak out from there i will think it's you. So to avoid this issue, it is better you stay away from the office. Anything important please go by the proper channel."
"Manager Gan, every time i go up because..."
"Look manger Yang. I understand that Peter is the one bringing you in there. I will talk to him. A company must have proper rules and regulations.I hope you understand, we are here to work. Not to develop any romantic thoughts."
Lisa is surprise at what manager Gan said. She is speechless and the call is out off. Her staff who is sitting nearby listen to the conversation feels sad for their boss. What manager Gan is saying is really too much.
That evening, Lisa meet her friends for dinner. Simon who is unaware of what happen at work is messaging Lisa on what she wants for dinner. She simply replay that she is meeting her friends and he can go ahead without her. Feeling unfair she wants to pour out to her friends what had happen but she swallow the though up and smile for her friends. They talk and eat hot pot. Lisa maybe unhappy but she decided that it is a small issue. She shouldn't bring any unhappiness up and spoilt the ambiences. She post online a picture of them eating together. Simon who is looking through her photos see the latest up date, he is smiling. She is really meeting her friends and they are eating well.
