In the city of country A, the rain was pouring down heavily. A beautiful girl was standing infront of a large metal gate shivering due to the cold wind. She had two suitcases by her side. By the look on her face, one could tell she was hesitating to go inside the house. She sighed deeply not knowing what to do. She knew that once she got through that gate, there's no turning back. Taking a few steps towards the gate, she raised her hand to press on the intercom when suddenly the headlight of a car almost blinded her. "Shit" she cursed.
The light was too bright for her eyesight. She was about to curse again but froze upon seeing the figure that got out of the car. With her wavy brown hair and light blue eyes, she was indeed a beauty. She had a scarf around her neck that matched with her dress. " Maya"? The woman gasped rushing towards her. "Mom!" Maya mumbled almost inaudibly.
Eleanor run towards her daughter taking her into a tight embrace. Maya was shocked by the sudden hug but she slowly recovered and hugged her back. Slight sobs escaped Eleanor's lips " Oh my baby where have you been! I miss you so much" she cried. It was still pouring heavily but the mother and daughter duo didn't even care. " Mommy I've missed you so much . I thought I wouldn't see you again"! Maya sobbed. She was so relieved to have found her mother. She was separated from her mother when she was Ten years old. Her father took her away saying that her mother abandoned her but Maya knew her mother would never leave her no matter what. She had seen her mother suffer because of her father. She was young back then so she didn't know how to relive her mother's pain.
After her father took her away, she tried to find the whereabouts of her mother but she got nothing.
When she turned twelve her father came home with a woman she hadn't seen before so she thought the woman might be a new maid. Her father George crouched to her level and said " Maya baby this is Selina your new mommy". Maya's eyes widened " No! she's not my mommy and she will never be my mommy "! she shouted and pushed her father away running straight to her room and slammed the door shut. George frowned " Maya come back here you brat or else you won't see your mom again" he threatened. Holding George's arm, Selina tried to calm him down " Honey don't get mad at her I'm sure she will come around". George snorted " Well I hope so". Little Maya could hear their voices from downstairs. She knew her father was angry but she didn't care, all she wanted was her mommy. The little girl slumped on the floor and cried the whole night.
Two weeks past and Maya was still angry at her father. She would always stay in her room and even refused to eat, if not for intervention of the maids, she would have starved to death .
Maya was sitting on her bed holding a teddy her mom bought for her when she was five. She named it Sparkle. Maya's eyes lit up when George entered her room for the first time in two weeks. She thought her father has missed her and was there to apologize for neglecting her but George's words shattered the little girl's heart."Maya pack your bags now, you're going to live with your grandpa". George stared into Maya's eyes with no bit of affection. Maya got her mother's striking light blue eyes. She blinked her innocent blue eyes stunned at her father's words. " But why? can't I stay here with you"? she asked innocently. George sighed looking at her adorable innocent face " Honey Selina doesn't want you here so I have no choice but to send you away". he said with no expresion on his face.
He tried touching her head but Maya swatted his hands away. She blinked back the tears that threatened to fall. She was really disappointed in her so called "father". " Just because she doesn't want me here you choose to send me away"?. Tears fell from her eyes. George looked at Maya with a guilty look in his eyes but he had no choice. He hardened his heart. You're going to your grandpa's so start packing your bags, I will be back for you in 20 minutes". He said and strode out of the room. Maya sat on the ground helplessly. She couldn't control her tears from falling. " Oh mommy where are you"?. After she was done packing George sent her suitcases to the car.
Maya was putting her school bag inside the car when suddenly a car entered the driveway. Selina stepped out of the car and opened the back seat door revealing two kids a boy and a girl. The girl was about eleven years old and the boy was eight. Maya stared confusedly at them. She found the boy a little familiar. Just then the girl ran past Maya and went straight into George's arms. " Daddy I miss you very much". she squealed. George laughed picking her up in his arms " Daddy has missed you too princess". he said and kissed her cheeks. " Jack why are you standing there , go and give daddy a hug". Selina nudged the little boy. The little boy was a bit aloof but he did as he was told.
Maya watched as the family of four embraced each other. Looking at them she felt like an outsider. She didn't know her father had other children besides her. " So that's why I found the boy a bit familiar". she scoffed. Turns out he was cheating on my mom all these years" she thought sadly. Taking a deep breath, she strode towards them.
