"Are you…" I took a deep, exhausted breath, barely able to even look her in the eyes. "Sure that this is going to work?"
We had been at this for literal hours. It was the middle of the night, and I still hadn't managed to completely understand this dagger technique. I had succeeded in using it before, but I wasn't good at it.
The difference in skill between myself and Lady Seraphina was massive, without a doubt. So big that I could hardly believe she was spending time teaching me.
But then, as I was thinking about whether to puke on the floor or lose consciousness, I felt her hand rest on my back.
"Don't worry… everything will be just fine," she whispered in my right ear, her body slightly leaning closer to mine.
It felt soft and peaceful. The way she touched me calmed me down almost instantly, sending a certain serenity through my body in a split second.
And then, within a minute, I was no longer exhausted. I was rejuvenated.
