The old lady made a phone call to her son as they walked. Not long after, a Rolls-Royce sedan pulled up in front of them.
A tall, imposing man stepped out of the car. His presence was commanding and full of energy.
The old lady quickly introduced them. "This is my son, Wu Feng. Son, this is Jiang Chen—the young man who cured me."
Wu Feng strode forward and grabbed Jiang Chen's hands tightly, visibly moved. "Dr. Jiang, thank you—thank you so much. My mother had been suffering for years, and you finally cured her."
"Brother Wu, where do you work?" Jiang Chen asked.
"I'm the chairman of Jiang City Health Products Trading Group."
Jiang Chen had of course heard of the company—it was a well-known name in Jiang City.
Wu Feng invited Jiang Chen to a restaurant. The old lady said she was heading to the park with her daughter-in-law and left them.
Wu Feng drove to a high-end restaurant. Jiang Chen noticed that across the street stood the Jiang City Drug Administration building.
He had recently heard that after being expelled from medical school, Xu Peng had landed a public servant job there.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen, who had graduated with honors, was unemployed.
Life, it seemed, made no sense.
Jiang Chen's mood soured instantly. He clenched his fists, resisting the urge to punch a nearby trash can. But he kept his composure in front of Wu Feng and followed him into the restaurant.
Not wanting Wu Feng to spend too much, Jiang Chen opted not to go to a private room upstairs. They found a table on the first floor.
Once the food and drinks were served, they chatted while drinking.
"Jiang Chen, since you graduated from Jiang City Medical University, why are you selling medicine on the street?" Wu Feng asked.
Jiang Chen recounted his recent hardships.
Wu Feng was silent for a while, then said he wanted to try the medicinal wine.
Jiang Chen handed over a bottle of Sanyang Guben Wine.
Wu Feng opened the cap and was about to take a sip, but Jiang Chen quickly stopped him with a smile. "This is medicinal wine—not for casual drinking. You need to take it at night, preferably with your wife at home. Heh..."
"Oh," Wu Feng chuckled, catching on. "It's an aphrodisiac, huh?"
"Yes."
Wu Feng put the bottle down, looking confident. "A good tonic. I'm quite capable in that department, but a little extra never hurts."
"Brother Wu, you're impressive," Jiang Chen teased.
"Back to business," Wu Feng said, setting the bottle aside. "Since you're short on money, you should've just asked me. If you don't, I'll take it as an insult. Tell me how much you need, and I'll transfer it right now."
He pulled out his phone. "Give me your account. I'll send it over."
Jiang Chen was touched. His eyes grew moist at Wu Feng's generosity.
But he shook his head. "Brother Wu, I can't take your money. If you really want to help, help me promote this medicinal wine."
"We can talk promotion later. First, let me help you with your sister's tuition and living expenses."
"No, I can't. I haven't earned it. I can't accept money for nothing."
Wu Feng paused, realizing Jiang Chen had a point. They'd only just met—who would feel comfortable accepting such a large sum right away?
But selling medicinal wine... his company didn't deal with that. Forcing it into the business might attract attention from the Drug Administration across the street.
After a while, Wu Feng made a phone call.
"Zheng Qiang, I'm at Blue Sky Restaurant across from the Drug Admin building. Come drink with a friend."
Soon after, a rugged-looking man burst through the door. His face was broad and tough—like someone born to fight—but he wore a friendly grin.
After sitting down, Wu Feng poured him half a glass of wine and said with a laugh, "Zheng Qiang, didn't you say your performance in bed has been... subpar lately? Try this aphrodisiac wine from Dr. Jiang."
"Huh?"
Zheng Qiang looked at the wine, then at Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen quickly explained the wine's effects. "Only I've tested it so far. If it works for you, maybe you could help me find some sales channels."
Without hesitation, Zheng Qiang filled the glass and downed it in one gulp.
Too much, Jiang Chen thought. Half a glass is enough.
"Nice wine!" Zheng Qiang exclaimed. "Warm and smooth. Feels great."
He poured a glass for Wu Feng.
Wu Feng also drank the entire glass in one go.
Too much again, Jiang Chen thought. He wanted to stop them, but it was too late.
Zheng Qiang was about to pour more when Jiang Chen pressed his hand down. "Brother Zheng, that's enough. Drinking more isn't good. Are you married?"
"Me? I live on the edge—fights, danger, you name it. No wife. Don't want to drag anyone down."
"No wife? Then you really shouldn't drink too much. Could end up violating criminal law."
"Haha!" Zheng Qiang laughed. "Who says a man can only find relief with a wife? You gotta think outside the box."
They continued chatting.
About half an hour later, both men's expressions changed.
Zheng Qiang's face lit up as he clutched his stomach. "This stuff works! I've had issues for nearly a year—tried all sorts of meds with no luck. But now..."
Jiang Chen laughed, "I think we should wrap up here. Brother Zheng, Brother Wu—you should both head home to your wives."
Wu Feng squirmed in his seat and gave Zheng Qiang a knowing smile. "How about you and I go relax while Dr. Jiang enjoys the meal?"
Zheng Qiang agreed immediately.
"Dr. Jiang, we'll be back in an hour. Be patient," Wu Feng said as they left.
Jiang Chen knew they were going to find women to "clinically verify" the wine's effect. He smiled but said nothing.
He continued eating alone.
After about an hour, the two returned, all smiles and flushed with success.
Zheng Qiang spoke first. "Dr. Jiang, how much more of that wine do you have? I'll take it all."
"Just these five bottles," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
Zheng Qiang stuffed the remaining four bottles into a bag. "How much?"
Jiang Chen hesitated—he hadn't decided on a price.
Wu Feng said, "My friends will want this too. Name your price—I'll take all you can make."
"80 yuan per bottle," Jiang Chen said.
Wu Feng laughed. "Are you joking? You think I need charity? This wine is worth at least 20,000 yuan a bottle."
"No, no," Jiang Chen quickly waved his hands. "That's way too much."
"Then 10,000 yuan a bottle. Any less and I won't buy."
He snatched up two bottles and said, "Zheng Qiang, two each."
Then he transferred 20,000 yuan to Jiang Chen's phone.
Zheng Qiang quickly followed suit.
