The rest of the day went uneventfully. Xie Yang didn't remember the classmates who came to greet him or talk to him, thankfully he had Leo to help him but he wasn't omniscient.
Leo essentially helped him by looking through his memories and retrieving information to recognize faces, events etc. but he could not get something that didn't exist in his memories in the first place like random shows and comics which he hadn't seen or read.
This led to Xie Yang seeming even more detached from the current trends than usual to other students but they chalked it up to him having neither the interest or the time to look into such things.
The incident with Mrs. Sheng spreading also aided in solidifying this belief that Xie Yang was too busy trying to avoid being implicated that he couldn't care less about these useless things. It added another layer of pitifulness to his hardworking and polite persona giving it an extra boost.
Principal Ye called Xie Yang to his office after the final dispersal bell had rung to ask him whether or not he wanted to call his parents regarding this.
Actually, according to policy, Principal Ye should have immediately contacted his parents because a teacher bullying a student is a serious allegation. One which needs the input of guardians regarding how to go forward from here.
The reason Principal Ye hadn't contacted Xie Yang's parents was because of his understanding of Xie Yang. He knew extremely well how much Xie Yang detested having his parents called regarding bad things involving him.
Once he had made the mistake of calling his parents at the start of his freshman year when he heard about Xie Yang being bullied.
The students bullying him were wealthy second generations who upon being caught by him had immediately cried to their parents that they were being framed and that they didn't do anything. They completely reversed black and white and instead accused Xie Yang of being the bully instead.
The parents heard that the children they raised so preciously were being bullied outside, especially by a poor middle class student who wouldn't even be able to attend the school if not for the scholarships and were pretty angry.
Even Principal Ye at the time had been floored by their audacity so when the angry parents had come to the school, he had set the record straight with them but they still refused to believe him.
In fact, it was pretty clear even without him vouching for Xie Yang, who the actual bully and the victim was as those students had beaten Xie Yang black and blue.
His face and visible body area had varying degrees of bruises and cuts. His hair matted with dirt. His uniform torn, full of dust and grim along with clear shoe marks alluding that he had been stepped on and kicked. Even his right arm had been dislocate and was being carried by his left arm.
Even just seeing the disheveled looking Xie Yang and the well dressed bunch, one can tell who the actual bullied one was.
At the time, he didn't listen to Xie Yang's request of not calling his parents and called them anyways.
They of course, came in a hurry like any concerned parents but when it came to defending him, they actually bowed down and apologized to the second generations and their parents citing Xie Yang's ignorance for having offended them and promising to teach him better from now on.
Not only that, but they even dragged Xie Yang along with them making him bow his head and apologize to the very people who had been bullying him. At the time, Xie Yang holding his arm had obediently bowed his head and even apologized quite sincerely.
In his eyes was not the anger from suffering an injustice neither was their any sadness about not being defended but an eerie calmness as if he had expected this outcome, as if he was used to this treatment, as if he no longer had any hope.
Not only the second generations but even their parents were taken aback by this show of humility. They weren't blind, anyone could see who was being bullied.
They had thought that Xie Yang's parents would ask them to cover his medical expenses and maybe pay some compensation to sweep this matter under the rug. Never once had they expected that Xie Yang's parents would not only not blame their kids but also make Xie Yang apologize.
The parents of the second generations put themselves in Xie Yang's parent's shoes and could not help but despise them. If their child had been bullied like that, forget settling for compensation, they would have demanded the bullies to expelled.
The parents of the second generations felt pity for Xie Yang and offered to cover his medical bills and pay some compensation which was rejected by Xie Yang's parents.
Even the wealthy second generations felt second hand embarrassment for Xie Yang and took the initiative to apologize. They too felt that if they had been in Xie Yang's shoes, they wouldn't be able to remain this calm.
After the wealthy second generations left with their entourage, Xie Yang's parents apologized to Principal Ye for the trouble and left with Xie Yang.
In the hallway, he could hear them advising Xie Yang not to hold a grudge and to stay clear off the second generations.
Since then, Principal Ye and the teachers have never called Xie Yang's parents regarding anything whether good or bad. They always took Xie Yang's input and never called them without going through him first.
Xie Yang didn't remember this particular incident as it had always been this way and he'd long gotten tired of keeping track of every single time his parents had failed him.
He declined Principal Ye and told him to ask Mr. Liu to sign his incident report.
Ever since that incident with the bullies, his homeroom teacher Mr. Liu had been the one who took care of things that needed his parent's signature as he was actually Xie Yang's maternal uncle.
Mr. Liu was registered in the school as Xie Yang's guardian so him signing it wasn't a big deal.
Actually over the three years, the only thing that Xie Yang had his parents sign was his report cards except for those everything requiring a parent's signature was signed by Mr. Liu.
