Chapter 28 - The Tiger, The Sorcerer, and The Smile

Night draped itself over the city like a thick velvet cloak, quiet but tense — the kind of night that knew something was about to begin.

Riku Yamadera stood in his room dressed entirely in black — black shirt, black pants, black mask pulled snug across the lower half of his face. Only his blank, dark eyes remained visible, their gaze sharp with focus and anticipation. He moved with quiet precision, stretching one leg across the window frame and crouching slightly. His breath came out slow and controlled.

'I'm not sure if Yuji ate the finger yet,' he thought, tightening the gloves over his fingers. 'But if he did… if he really did… then tonight marks the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen.'

He vaulted out the window.

The air was cool against his face, and in a single, fluid motion, he coated his legs in cursed energy and wrapped them in Armament Haki. The invisible pressure hardened around his limbs like living steel, and then—Flash Step.

The city blurred into streaks of neon and shadow. He was nothing more than a shadow tearing across rooftops, leaving not even the whisper of sound in his wake. Streetlamps, cars, alleyways, all zipped by in streaks of light. He moved like a phantom.

'Thankfully, in the past nine months, I've done my research and found out exactly where his school is,' Riku thought as his figure cut through the cityscape. 'Should be about 20 miles… give or take.'

It took him less than two minutes.

Riku came to a sharp stop on a nearby rooftop, his breath steady despite the speed. His eyes scanned the school below, particularly the roof.

There.

His pupils narrowed.

Yuji Itadori — being pinned down by a grotesque, bloated curse. The thing had greenish skin, bloated limbs, and eyes dripping with malicious joy. And then it happened—Yuji swallowed the rotting, darkened finger, and Riku felt a shiver run down his spine.

In the blink of an eye, the curse was shredded to pieces with a single swipe of Yuji's now-transformed hand. The air rippled from the force. Black markings appeared across his face, twisted and royal, and at once, Riku knew.

'Damn… there's no mistaking it. That cursed energy, the markings, the sheer presence... That's him. Ryomen Sukuna.'

The King of Curses stood up inside Yuji's body, cracking his neck and laughing like a war god.

"Women and children are crawling everywhere like maggots!" Sukuna shouted, arms outstretched. "How marvelous! It'll be a massacre!"

Riku remained perfectly still, his fingers unconsciously curling into fists. He watched as Sukuna's face twitched—Yuji trying to regain control—and then heard Yuji's voice force itself through the monster's grin.

"I'm still in here."

That's when Megumi Fushiguro appeared, already bruised and panting. He dropped into a fighting stance as Sukuna's smirk twitched. But then the markings faded. Yuji was back. And still, Megumi didn't relax.

Another presence arrived.

Like a tsunami dressed in blue.

Satoru Gojo stepped into view, his blindfolded eyes hidden behind soft white hair, wearing his high-collared dark uniform. The aura he carried wasn't loud, but it demanded attention like gravity.

'Well, shit,' Riku thought. 'Gojo's here. Now this is gonna get interesting.'

Gojo casually greeted Megumi, asked if the object had been found, and Yuji—like an idiot—just said it. "I ate it."

Riku winced.

Gojo blinked once. Then smiled. "Can you switch to Sukuna for ten seconds?"

"What?"

"C'mon. Just ten seconds."

Yuji hesitated, then nodded.

Sukuna was back in an instant, and without missing a beat, he lunged at Gojo. The strongest sorcerer vanished mid-blink, effortlessly appearing behind Sukuna, sitting on his back like it was a barstool.

"Oh," Riku muttered under his breath, "he really doesn't care about anything, does he?"

Sukuna swung again and again, and Gojo danced around every strike like he was reading from a script. Riku stood motionless, absorbing every frame, every shift of weight, every flick of cursed energy. The fight only lasted seconds, but in those seconds, the entire school rooftop was reshaped by the clash of titans.

Eventually, Sukuna was flung through the air with a smile fading from his face, crashing into concrete, rising up with his hand coated in a cursed black aura.

"You jujutsu sorcerers are always so damn annoying," he spat.

He lunged one last time.

And Gojo just stood there. Unmoving. Untouched.

"Eight… nine… ten," Gojo counted casually.

Sukuna vanished. Yuji fell to his knees.

"You really can control him," Gojo said, more impressed than surprised.

"Yeah… but he's always talking in my head," Yuji muttered.

From the rooftop, Riku exhaled. 'Well, that's Gojo for you.'

Then, suddenly, Gojo turned.

Right. At. Him.

He stared, face relaxed, almost curious. And then, ever so clearly, he mouthed:

"It's not nice to spy on people, you know."

Riku blinked.

"…Huh."

He smiled behind the mask. 'Guess I've been spotted.'

And with a crack of pressure, he disappeared from the rooftop and appeared beside them on the school roof.

Megumi immediately shifted back into a defensive stance. "Who the hell is this guy?"

Gojo turned with casual interest. "And you are?"

Riku tilted his head. "It's not polite to ask for someone's name without giving yours first."

"Oh?" Gojo smirked. "You don't know who I am?"

Riku thought to himself, 'Yep. That's Gojo all right. Cocky as ever.'

"Well, since you don't know me, I'll introduce myself. I'm Satoru Gojo."

Riku pulled off his mask. "Riku Yamadera."

Gojo scratched his chin. "Hmm… Never heard of a sorcerer with that name. And trust me, I'd remember someone with your cursed energy."

"I'm not an official sorcerer," Riku replied with a shrug.

Yuji pointed. "Hey! You're the guy from that one time!"

Riku chuckled. "Good to see you again. I see you've gotten yourself into… trouble."

He turned, ready to leave. "Well, I'll take my leave. I sensed a ton of cursed energy and came to check it out."

Gojo spoke up. "Wait. You said you're not a sorcerer? Then how would you like to become one?"

Riku paused.

"I think I'm a bit late to enroll in high school. I already graduated."

Gojo grinned. "It's not a high school. Not really. It's a training ground for Jujutsu sorcerers."

He pulled a folded paper from his coat and handed it over. "Here. Come to this address."

Riku looked at the paper, then back at Gojo. "Alright. I'll think about it."

And with one last smirk, he vanished again—Flash Step—disappearing into the cityscape.

He reappeared minutes later back in his room, quietly climbing through the window and landing without a sound. He looked down at the paper in his hand, flipping it over once.

He grinned to himself.

"Hopefully my acting was good enough."

He tossed the paper onto his desk and leaned back against his chair, staring up at the ceiling.

"Jujutsu High, huh? If I stick close, I'll be around stronger curses… and even stronger fights."

His smile widened, cold and electric.

"The story's started. And it's going to be dangerous as hell."

And with that we are getting right into the main story. What do you guys think of the character interactions? I'm sorry if most character don't match their anime/manga personalities but you have to remember this is a fanfic so their not going to match 100% but I'll try my best to make it closer also since this is a fanfic characters are going to be way stronger than their cannon selves and the fights are going to be way more interesting.
