Chapter 31 - Beth

(Angel Dust POV)

I was currently walking in some long a** hallway. Man, this place was big as s**t.

As I continued to walk the hallways with my bags and a makeshift pet cage for Fat Nuggets, I was greeted by some small cow.

Its skin was like stone. It had small wings that couldn't possibly lift its much larger body, but overall... it was absolutely adorable!

"Hey, little guy! Whatcha doin' here?"

I tried to pick up the little guy, but I couldn't. Every time I tried, I couldn't even move them a bit.

I sighed and gave up trying to pick them up, and just settled on petting them on the head.

It didn't resist. It just sat there, staring at me. Then it licked my hand and walked away in the opposite direction.

I chuckled a bit and started walking again, but before I could even take another step, my hand—the one the little guy licked—started to hurt.

I looked down to see a small heart-shaped brand on the back of my hand. I just stood there, my mouth agape. The pain stopped the second it started. In fact, it started to make me feel better. The scars on my body slowly began to disappear.

"Huh, guess this is one of the hotel's perks."

I picked up my bags once more and continued to walk. I finally reached the door to my room.

I opened the door and was greeted by the smell of... cheese?

I looked around and saw a small black cat in a suit sleeping on the bed. It was sleeping so soundly it didn't even notice me enter the room.

I closed the door behind me, placed my bags on the table, and let Fat Nuggets out of the small bag/cage he was sleeping in.

I walked toward the cat and tried to wake it up by poking it a bit.

It didn't work.

I poked it a bit harder, and it woke up slightly, eyes still lazy and narrow. It stared at me, looking a bit confused.

It then groaned and started to hover off the bed. It raised one of its paws into the air, and a black, eerie glow began to emanate from it. I stepped back instinctively, avoiding something that hadn't even done anything yet.

A black ball formed and then exploded from its paw, heading toward me.

I tried to cover my face to block the hit—but it never came. I opened my eyes and saw that it was cleaning the room and removing the cheese smell.

"Ahhhhh, man, that was exhausting. Well, time for another nap."

It then began floating toward a wall and phased right through it.

I stood there, utterly confused.

"What the hell just happened?"

I looked around the room and noticed a spot that had a few marks on the carpet. It was circular and very wide.

"Guess he had a few cheese wheels here."

I headed toward the bed and sat down. I felt the softness of the mattress, the silky smooth sheets, and the fluffy pillows.

I laid down on the bed and started to relax a bit, but as soon as I did, I got a call from Val.

I got up quickly and answered.

"Uh... he–hey, Val."

"Angel baby, did you forget we have a shoot today? 'Cause if you did, I might do something to your cute little piggy."

"Please... I promise I'll be there... Please don't hurt my baby."

"Good boy."

Val hung up, and I stood there, stunned.

I got dressed and headed out. I walked past the other tenants and finally exited the hotel. I hailed a cab and headed to "work."

Unknown to Angel, a small creature was following him.

---

(Beth POV)

I followed his car for a few minutes until it finally stopped in front of a very tall building. He got out and walked inside. I followed him in and saw that the building was really old, its wallpaper slowly falling off.

As I hid and followed him across the halls, we finally stopped in front of a large door. He went inside, but before I could get in, the doors closed in front of me.

I couldn't just break in. Dad hates it when I break things.

I hid underneath a table near the door to wait for him to come out.

---

A few hours passed, and he finally came out—but he was crying?

I looked at him and saw he was covered in cuts and bruises.

I followed him outside and saw him get into a car heading back to the hotel.

I looked back at the building and thought of a brilliant idea.

I should crush this place.

My body started to grow and became as large as a 10-story building. I jumped high into the sky and crushed the building to pieces.

I got up and looked down at the floor and saw a bunch of hellhounds with angelic knives—and a moth guy on the floor with a knife in his chest.

I huffed, turned small once more, and headed back home.

I hope Dad doesn't get mad at me for breaking another building.

---

(Stygian POV)

I was currently relaxing on the hotel's balcony, sitting on my chair, until suddenly a small hellquake happened—which was weird, since hellquakes don't happen.

"Haa... Beth, I just paid for the last home you wrecked."
