Buneary's POV
I have to get Charizard! Charizard is our best friend because he is very loyal. And he is very helpful too. I hopped quickly to Charizard's cave, where he was sleeping very quietly without a sound. You see, Charizard can't make any noises. So no one knows what he is saying.
Oh look! We're here! I lightly tapped Charizard on the snout. Charizard slowly opened his eyes and blinked. He was either frustrated, or tired.
I tapped my paws together nervously. "Umm, Glaceon stole something from Eevee again," I muttered
Charizard rolled his eyes. And I squeaked as Charizard picked me up, grasping me in his claws. Charizard quickly took to the sky.
"She's over by the frozen lake!" I shouted over the wind.
Charizard nodded and took a turn in that direction.
Glaceon's POV
"Listen, I found the tiny human first, so if you will..."
I scoff. "Yeah, like that's a reason for me to give up the tiny human."
Eevee scooted closer, using her paws to push herself forward on the ice and tilted her head. "Okay then, how about a trade?"
"....no."
"I have a lot of shiny stuff."
"Still no."
Eevee tilted her head the other way. "I'll send back Charizard."
I snorted. "Really? You're gonna threaten me with that Charizard again?"
Eevee smirks. "Yup."
I scoff. "Yeah, like that's gonna work on me this time. Because I now know that that Charizard is fake."
But as soon as I say that, I hear a loud thud behind me. I look behind me. And there was, indeed, a Charizard. I growled, pushing the small human towards Eevee.
Eevee's POV
With a huff, Glaceon walked away. I pushed myself up—or at least I tried to.
"Hey, Charizard! Look what me and Buneary found!" Charizard looked in my direction, and he jumped back and his wings immediately flared in panic.
His eyes were wide, and he had to say not a word for one to know what he wanted to say. 'What. Is that. Creature?'
The human child rolled, falling out of its basket. Aw! It even tried to crawl to Charizard! I gotta give it to the human, they walk on this ice better than I do.
Charizard lifted his foot, trying to avoid being touched by the human child. The human child looked at Charizard and smiled.
I finally get onto land and Buneary hops over to me. "I don't think Charizard likes it," she whispers.
The human child dropped onto Charizard and giggled, hugging Charizard's foot. Charizard panicked again, flapping his wings so fast they looked like they were fluttering. Charizard glared at the human child with wide eyes, and pointed at it.
"It's a human child," I said, "You're fine Charizard."
Buneary's POV
I watched Mother Eevee as she leaped onto Charizard's tail, climbed up his back, and onto his head. Mother Eevee sat and bent down so that she could look Charizard right in the eyes.
"Relax," she said calmly, "Now be a good dragon Pokemon and say 'hello' to your new cousin, Artemis."
Charizard frowned and lowered his head. He stared at Artemis in curiosity, as they played with his tail fearlessly, visibly resisting the urge to flick them off. Charizard carefully picked them up with his claws, but before he could set them down...
"Charizard," Mother Eevee exclaimed, "you're so brilliant!"
Charizard's gaze turned towards Mother Eevee, and he looked at her in confusion. "I have been thinking for hours about how I could take Artemis home!"
"Will he take us for a ride home?" I asked.
"Only you two," she replied, "I mean, it shouldn't be so hard for Charizard to handle should it?"
Charizard huffed, smoke swirling from his nostrils, clearly showing how frustrated he was with this task. But, he eventually nodded, and he followed Mother Eevee back home. I watched Artemis all the way. They looked very comfortable being held by Charizard.
When we arrived home, Charizard carefully set Artemis down. Shinx looked our way, and his eyes narrowed. "You brought a human into our burrow?!"
"Relax, Shinx! It's a human child," Mother Eevee said.
Shinx stuttered. "But, still! Mother Eevee, what if it evolves?! We'd have to find leather or wool or-or-or something every time it evolves!"
Mother Eevee was silent for a moment. She hummed thoughtfully. "I suppose you have a point."
Shinx raised a brow. "You suppose?"
Mother Eevee flicked her tail. "Well...yes. And they're staying!"
"Besides, Mother Eevee already named the human!" I added.
Shinx shook his head. "What?"
I nodded eagerly. "Yeah! Its name is Artemis!"
"Shi!"
We looked at Artemis, who was giggling and clapping their paws.
"Shinx!" Shinx corrected.
Eevee walked up to Artemis. "They'll say it right in time, Shinx."
"And how do you know that?" Shinx hissed
"Based on my knowledge of the humans, they're first evolution is still learning to speak."
"So...what you're saying is that if we don't teach them how to speak, they won't evolve!" Shinx purred.
Mother Eevee gave a single nod. "Exactly. They'll be small forever!"
One year later...
"Shinx!"
Shinx sighed deeply. "What?"
Artemis walked up to Shinx's side and hugged him tightly. "Hi."
"Hi..."
We couldn't understand. This wasn't supposed to happen. They weren't supposed to learn how to talk. So how did they learn how to talk?!
"Do you want to come with me and Buneary to look for berries?" Artemis asked Shinx.
Shinx glared at them. "No."
Artemis lowered their head. "Okay..." They then perked up and hopped over to me. "Buneary!"
No questions asked. "Obviously I'm coming with you!"
Besides, they're gonna need someone to protect them if a Pokémon tries to hurt them. That or if Glaceon tries to steal them.
Behind me, I hear Charizard landing. I stopped to let him catch up to us and he smiled.
The forest isn't too far. Our burrow is only a few miles away from the forest. When we enter the green forest, we are greeted by different Pokémon.
"Hi!" Artemis greeted, waving a paw at a few Turtwigs.
"Do you know where we can find some fresh berries?" I asked.
"Yeah! I saw some over by a small camp!" One of them chirped. "But there were some Teenagers there."
"Be careful," a Staraptor warned, "These...Teenagers are the offspring of the hunter."
"Don't worry, Staraptor! We'll be careful!" I assured him.
