Dr Benjamin Rhodes was the expert in country C if he said, there is no hope, then there is indeed no other option unless they could get hold of the miracle doctor F. Everyone feared the Blackthorne family, and the young master of the Blackthorne family was pretty cold hearted.
Zoe knew that Dr Rhodes was planning to tell Felix about the condition of Aria Winters. It has not been that long since she joined, but since she loved to gossip their story had easily found the way to her. Everyone in the hospital was anxious that day. She had not known the intensity of the situation then, but she knew now. Looking back she felt it was a good thing because she wouldn't have been able to handle all that pressure, as she was the only person who would be present inside Dr Rhode's office except himself and Felix. She knew that Dr Rhodes was pretty anxious at the meeting , and the situation he was in.
Dr Rhodes who was pretty brave himself but was shuddering at the thought of breaking this news to Felix . He knew he had to do it at some point. And afterall it isn't his fault, he did his best.
Soon Felix entered the doctor's office. The temperature immediately dropped there. Felix himself was a bit nervous, he knew that it may not be good news, he just hoped it wouldn't be the worst.
Dr Rhodes put on his professional mask. " See Mr Blackthorne I want you to patiently listen and understand the circumstances.We have done everything we could but Miss Winter's condition is nowhere near improving. And neither is it deteriorating that is the only good news I have at the moment." Dr Rhodes said softly.
Felix's mind was swirling, the fact that this was going nowhere was really frustrating him. He had always gotten what he wanted, but now even if he gave up all his money and power he was helpless. And he hated it, he hated this feeling more than that it pained him.
"Do you think taking her abroad would help?" He was determined to leave no stone unturned. If he knew there was even the slightest possibility of bringing her back, he would go to the end of the world and back.
" Mr Blackthorne, we are the best unless you can get hold of doctor F, trust me you can take her anywhere they will only tell you what I have." Dr Rhodes was not someone who was prideful, but he did know his capability. And he knew that he was the best , he had tried everything possible. He knew that he wouldn't mind if Felix disregarded him and took her abroad anyway, because they could indeed help her he would just be grateful ,but he knew very well that they couldn't.
"Doctor F?" Felix asked he had never heard about this doctor.
"Sir, she is a well known doctor, if she takes up a case you can be sure that she will succeed. She is always the last hope of the medical. If she couldn't no one could." Dr Rhodes said, he had always admired this doctor even though he had not meet her, but her tales were so famous that everyone knew.
"Then why are we not consulting her, why are we not getting her here." Felix's mind for the first time in a long time was filled with such hope.
"Sir, she doesn't take cases from country C, she can go to even hell for her patients but not country C it seems." Dr Rhodes said, he did not know what caused her to take such a decision he hated it, he hated whatever or whoever was the cause of it. It was such a huge loss for his country.
Felix ran his fingers through his hair, he was visibly frustrated, he had no idea why fate was making his life so difficult. It was agony, every second without her was agony.
" And why is that, just contact her I am more than willing to give all my assets if that is a must, just get her." Felix said a slight desperation in his voice, though Dr Rhodes didn't recognise it
"Sir, she has no desire for wealth or money for that matter, she treated all her patients sincerely, always have. But Country C is the only exception for her. I can tell you the way to contact her and pray that she accepts your offer. But nothing more " he too wished that she took up his offer, afterall he knew that Ms Winters would be saved that way, and doctor F may even change her mind about country C.
"Have you got a picture of her, if she doesn't accept I'll hunt her down " Dr Wu shuddered at what Gu Jiang had said.
"Sir, I wish I could but I don't have, infact no one does, only her patients and their families have seen her. And they have signed some sort of non disclosure contract and even if they hadn't they would not do anything their saviour didn't ask for." The gratitude they held for her was understandable. But her request was not , why doesn't she wanted to recognised, thinking now everything about her is. He let out a sigh.
"Thank you Dr Rhodes and thank you for his service." He didn't wait for an answer from the doctor before he gracefully slipped away from the chair and out of his office.
Dr Rhodes let out a sigh as she saw Felix leave, she had no idea why she was in that room with them, neither of them had not even acknowledged her. But she was relieved nonetheless.
He was raging, but he was also desperate and sad and helpless. He let out a bitter laugh at how she was making him feel so much, even when she was nowhere to be found around him.
She was his kryptonite, he knew that . And now she was killing him slowly and painfully. He used to get restless when he wasn't able to see her for a few days and she had left him for long now. God he felt pathetic.
