Chapter 26 - Treasure Map (2)

Walking through the town alongside his lord, and heading toward the house, Shen Feiyu felt a surge of excitement rising within him already.

Among all the servants his lord had, aside from that strongest woman, the maid who lived with him, no one had ever been invited into his house before.

So, being granted that honor at this moment filled him with a surge of pride!

Before long, Shen Feiyu finally found himself standing in front of his lord's house, and he couldn't help but pause and stare at it for a moment.

Isn't it too shabby for someone of his lord's stature? Even if he prefers to live low profile?

He couldn't help but wonder.

But what Shen Feiyu didn't know was that the reason Hong Wei never changed his house was actually quite simple… he just didn't want to go through the hassle.

He had long thought he wouldn't stay in this town for much longer, so there was no point in making changes, or wasting time on such things.

"What are you doing? Come in!" Hong Wei suddenly said, snapping Shen Feiyu out of his reverie.

As he stepped inside, the first person he encountered was a mature woman with a youthful charm. From her appearance alone, and the resemblance, he instantly understood who she was. And so, he immediately saluted, cupping his hands and lowering his head respectfully.

"Greetings, Madam!"

"Yes… welcome?" Xue Yiran said, uncertainly, before shifting her gaze toward her son.

Her eyes clearly asked, Who is this strange man?

And Hong Wei, understanding her unspoken question, answered directly, "He is my subordinate."

Subordinate? Someone with such a powerful air, clearly a cultivator?

Xue Yiran's thoughts seemed to spiral in confusion as she tried to piece together what was going on. But Hong Wei didn't intend to explain further. He simply walked toward the next room, where Seren was.

As soon as Shen Feiyu's eyes landed on Seren, who respectfully greeted Hong Wei with a tone of familiarity, he froze… and his eyes widened slightly.

Naturally, it wasn't because of her unparalleled beauty.

But because… she was a mighty cultivator, with a cultivation realm far beyond anything he had encountered before!

He couldn't even sense her specific realm due to the vast difference between their strengths. Unlike back in Fenghua County, where there were more obvious signs to judge someone's cultivation...

Flying on a sword was the mark of a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator.

And floating in the air without any support meant one had likely stepped into the Golden Core Realm or higher.

But the woman in front of him didn't do anything like that. She was simply sitting there, serene and calm.

Yet Shen Feiyu could instinctively tell… she was far, far stronger than that demonic cultivator he had encountered earlier.

While Shen Feiyu stood there, astonished, Hong Wei, who didn't have time to be considerate of him in this moment, hurriedly said, "Okay, take out the treasure map you have. Let's see it."

"Immediately, my lord!" Shen Feiyu responded.

And like that, the leather map was finally placed into Hong Wei's hand.

In the end, even after scrutinizing it for some time, Hong Wei couldn't be sure of its authenticity. Which was why, he simply passed it to Seren.

Seren calmly took the map and examined it with careful eyes.

The room fell into silence as she stared at the leather. Shen Feiyu couldn't help but hold his breath, a creeping nervousness rising within him. As the moment stretched, he couldn't stop the anxious thought… what if the map was fake? What if, after everything, he had only presented his lord with something worthless?

He had taken pride in this mission. If it turned out to be a failure, he wouldn't just be embarrassed, he would feel like he had let down his lord.

Finally, Seren raised her eyebrow, a flicker of surprise clearly on her face. "Master," she said slowly, "this map is actually made of beast leather… a demonic beast."

"And I estimate the said demonic beast to be around my strength. That means the owner of this tomb should be even stronger than me!"

Hong Wei's eyes lit up instantly at her words. The meaning was clear now… this map was real!

"Good job!" Hong Wei turned to Shen Feiyu, reached out, and patted his shoulder.

Then, as if to emphasize it again, he repeated with more warmth in his voice, "Really, good job."

"It's my duty, my lord!" Shen Feiyu replied with a deep sense of honor.

It took Hong Wei a moment to calm the excitement bubbling in his chest, before he finally added, "I don't have anything to reward you with at this moment, but… if we find valuable things in that tomb, I'll make sure to leave something for you."

It was a promise.

The characters he summoned were loyal and willing to serve him without asking for anything in return… but Hong Wei didn't want to take that loyalty for granted, if he could help it.

Shen Feiyu tried to politely refuse, but Hong Wei brushed it off naturally. For him, this wasn't up for negotiation.

And so, after confirming that the map was real and with that matter settled, Hong Wei finally told Shen Feiyu to bring out the other maps… so they could try and determine where the tomb was located.

Because even after studying the treasure map for quite a while, he still couldn't figure out its location.

With all the local maps spread across the room...

Seren, Shan Mei, Shen Feiyu, and Hong Wei, four pairs of eyes, began carefully looking through them, comparing each detail, trying to determine where the tomb might be hidden.

Hong Wei feared that even with all these maps, they still might not be able to pinpoint the location. After all, these local maps only held the geographical details of small places, and lacked any deeper markers.

But luckily, in the end, he wasn't disappointed.

Because Seren, while holding the leather map and an ordinary one side by side and comparing them closely, suddenly said, "Master, I think I found out the location of the tomb!"
