Kaira turned to Hailey, stunned—so stunned that Hailey was tempted to pull out her phone and take a picture of her face.
"Hailey's not an actress," Kaira said, forcing a laugh that barely disguised the bitterness beneath. "She's auditioning for the lead role. A role that needs an experienced actress… like me."
Producer Myron and his team exchanged knowing glances. They'd seen the viral video. They'd seen the drama. And now, they were seeing exactly where Kaira's venom came from.
"As I said earlier," Myron replied coolly, "Your performance lacked emotional depth. Luckily, we had someone come in for a last minute audition for the same role."
Kaira clamped her mouth shut, her fist clenching silently by her side and she turned to take a seat. When she was sat, she grinned, waiting for Hailey to embarrass herself. She'd never auditioned for a movie before, never acted in one before so she had no clue on how to show emotions from a few words written on paper.
