"Where are they now?" Anne asked, craning her neck to peek through the blinds like she was in a spy movie.
"Gone," Sofia said, arranging the plates on the table with a little too much precision. "I told Adam to pull his men out or I'd never step foot outside again."
"And he actually listened?" Elise turned from the stove, raising a perfectly arched brow. "Wow. The CEO who makes Fortune 500 tremble just took orders from you in pajama shorts."
"It wasn't an order," Sofia said defensively. "It was a boundary."
"Right," Anne smirked. "And that kiss was a business transaction?"
Sofia froze, a fork suspended mid-air. "I didn't kiss him. He kissed me."
"Oh, honey," Elise laughed, flipping an egg. "Your lips were definitely not on strike. That was not a hostage situation."
"I was stunned!" Sofia said, trying to sound outraged but failing as a flush crept up her neck. "I didn't even know what was happening until it was over."
