The soft click of Sofia's heels on the pavement echoed like a countdown.
Adam waited by the open car door, trying—and failing—to mask the punch to his chest when he saw her.
She was a vision of defiance and seduction wrapped in elegance. Midnight-blue silk clung to her body like temptation had been custom-tailored. Her hair swept into a loose chignon, tendrils framing her face. The slit in her dress ran scandalously high, revealing just enough to drive him mad—and she knew it.
When she slid into the back seat, the scent of her perfume—jasmine and something darker—filled the air and shattered the last of his composure.
Neither of them spoke as the car pulled away from the curb.
Then Adam reached forward, tapped the console—and the privacy partition slid up, blocking the driver's view.
Sofia arched a brow. "Is this where you scold me for making you wait?"
Adam turned, his voice low and dangerous. "This is where you take responsibility for what you started."
