Chapter 2 - Ghost Unit

The wind was dead.

No birds. No voices. Just the low hum of drone wings above the smoke.

Shoorya Sen — codename SHOONYA — stood at the edge of a broken building in northeast China. His boots crushed burnt glass. A dead body hung on a powerline, swinging in the wind like a flag that gave up.

He didn't flinch.

Below him, the enemy base buzzed with life — Neo-Dragon soldiers, tanks, heat sensors, kill drones, the whole circus. They thought they were safe. They had no idea they were already surrounded.

"Status," he whispered into his mic.

A crackle. Then a reply.

"Unit ready. Four snipers, two runners, one drone jammer. Waiting for your green light."

Seven soldiers. That's all he had.

He looked down at his hand-drawn map. No GPS. No AI. Just instinct and bad handwriting. There was one way in — a collapsed sewage pipe that led under the command tower. Smelled like piss and death. But it would work.

Shoonya didn't ask if anyone was scared. He didn't care.

"Go," he said.

The ghost unit moved like shadows. No boots on gravel. No clicks. No talk. Shoonya followed last, slipping into the pipe. Rats ran past him. He didn't blink.

The smell inside was hell. Someone puked. He didn't stop.

After ten minutes of crawling, they reached the grate. Shoonya peeked through.

Two guards. Smoking. Laughing. One had a picture of his kid on his vest.

Didn't matter.

Pop. Pop.

Sniper rounds. No sound. Both dropped. Shoonya slid out first, pistol drawn. He moved like smoke — fast, quiet, angry.

They stormed the base.

Grenades first. Then bullets. Then knives.

One guard begged in Mandarin. Shoonya put a bullet in his mouth before the guy could finish the sentence.

No mercy. No time.

It was over in 7 minutes.

The command room was painted red. Blood on the screens, walls, floor. Shoonya stood in the middle, typing into the enemy system with one hand, gun in the other.

His team watched him like he was a ghost.

One of the younger soldiers finally asked, "Sir… what now?"

Shoonya didn't answer. He uploaded a virus, set a timed detonation, then walked out.

As they left, the base behind them exploded. Flames reached the sky. One more enemy tower gone.

Shoonya lit a cigarette with a burning piece of rubble. Took one drag. Tossed it.

"No names," he said.

The team nodded.

They disappeared into the smoke again.

Ghosts.
