Chapter 24 - "The Eye of God."

"Keep going!!!" Raiden Shogun shouted as she knocked Jasper back with her wooden sword.

Jasper was panting, his eyes full of determination. He had already lost count of how many times he'd swung his sword.

But he wasn't thinking too much right now—he just knew he had to keep swinging.

Jasper raised his sword and slashed at Raiden Shogun.

She swung her own blade and easily knocked him back again.

Jasper staggered, almost falling flat on the floor.

His arms felt like they were filled with lead—heavy and slow.

He knew what that meant. His body was tired. It was telling him to stop and take a break.

Raiden Shogun looked at Jasper seriously. "This is the best time to push past your limits. I don't want you to give up. But if you really can't go on, that's fine too. Limits can always be broken—just not all at once."

What the heck? Does she think I'm about to give up?

Jasper didn't want her to think he was weak. He didn't want her to look down on him.

No way he was quitting now.

He gripped his sword tighter and charged at her again with everything he had.

"Too slow!!!" she shouted, cutting him down without mercy. The blow was so strong it left his hands trembling.

A sharp pain burned across his palm. Jasper looked down—he was bleeding.

His hand was torn open.

Still, he clenched the wooden sword tightly. The pain helped clear the fog in his mind. He had to go faster.

"RAAHHH!!!" Jasper roared and rushed forward again.

A streak of purple light burst out from his body.

Raiden Shogun frowned.

In the next instant, Jasper's figure shot forward like a bolt of purple lightning.

"Not bad," she said, raising her sword. Countless bolts of lightning gathered around her blade.

BOOM!!!

The two forces crashed together, lightning colliding and canceling each other out.

"Hmph." Raiden Shogun grunted, then forced Jasper back with another strike, surrounding him with a storm of lightning.

Whether it was training or punishment… it was definitely intense.

A few moments later, the lightning faded away. Jasper was lying flat on the floor.

A glowing purple Vision—an Eye of God—had quietly appeared in his hand.

He had passed out.

Raiden Shogun started walking toward him, but then realized—

Jasper's body was starting to disappear.

He was leaving.

So she stopped moving forward.

"OWWW—DAMN!!!"

Jasper shot up from his bed, still feeling like he'd been struck by lightning. Not a fun experience.

Suddenly, he felt something new in his hand. He looked down and saw it: a Vision.

Why did he get one? Weren't you supposed to have a strong wish to receive it?

What shocked him more, though, was that it came with him into this world. That must mean… he was the first person here to get a Vision.

And with a Vision, came elemental powers.

His Vision was Electro—lightning.

That meant he could now use Electro powers.

Jasper closed his eyes for a second. Then opened them again.

He held out his palm, and purple electricity crackled in his hand.

He felt it right away—his body was quicker, stronger, more responsive.

All thanks to the Vision.

If he trained and learned to master its power, he could become much, much stronger. Maybe even strong enough to face gods head-on.

His future suddenly looked a lot brighter.

"Morning, Shadow-Spidey!" Jasper said, turning to the shadowy girl sitting next to him reading a book.

"Morning? Is that how humans say hello?" she asked, tilting her head. "I'm not really human, you know. I'm just part of you. Technically speaking, I'm not a person."

So, in her mind, human greetings didn't apply to her.

"Yep!" Jasper replied, then looked at her face and couldn't help but say, "You're seriously pretty, you know that?"

"Pretty? I don't really think so. I feel pretty average." Shadow-Spidey replied calmly.

Jasper couldn't help but chuckle. If she wasn't pretty, who was?

He stood up and said, "I'm gonna head out for a walk. Want to come? If you'd rather stay in and read, that's cool too—but be careful no one sees you."

Shadow-Spidey slid her book into the shadows and nodded. "I want to walk with you."

So Jasper grabbed a quick breakfast, strapped the Vision to his belt—it looked like a stylish accessory at first glance—and headed out.

He actually liked the way it looked.

The two wandered through the streets. Unsurprisingly, Shadow-Spidey's stunning face drew a lot of attention.

Plenty of people tried to flirt with her, but she shot them down without mercy.

Jasper watched person after person walk away defeated. Honestly, it was hilarious.

After a while, Shadow-Spidey said she wanted to go read again.

Jasper didn't mind. "Go ahead," he said.

And with that, she disappeared.

Jasper kept wandering around. It was his day off, after all—might as well check out the city and see if there were any cute girls around.

Noon.

Jasper had just finished lunch when he saw Spider-Man swinging overhead.

Bored, he decided to follow.

About three minutes later, Jasper caught up to him on a rooftop.

He thought for a second, then called out, "Hey, eaten yet?"

Spider-Man pulled off his mask. "Not yet. You?"

"Yeah, I've already had lunch. You've been busy, huh? It's already, what, almost two?"

Peter Parker just smiled. "I'm getting pizza. You want some?"

Jasper shook his head. He wasn't hungry.

While Peter ate, he told Jasper about his day—nothing major had happened. No supervillains, no big drama. Just a quiet, peaceful day.

Peter devoured the pizza like he hadn't eaten in days.

After finishing, he lay down on the rooftop and said, "I need a nap."

Guess he's totally worn out.

Jasper looked at the sleeping Peter and sighed. "Fine, I'll call it even for all the times you helped me with homework."

He put on his own Spidey suit and jumped off the roof.

Soon after, he saw a police officer being dragged by a speeding luxury car.

Jasper didn't hesitate. He dropped down from the sky.

With one hand, he lifted the car right off the ground. Inside, a terrified woman stared at him in shock.

Jasper tilted his head. His speed and strength had definitely increased. No doubt—these were the effects of the Vision.

The injured officer stumbled over and gasped, "Thank you!"

Jasper gave a quick nod and gently set the car down. The woman inside had calmed down a bit, though she still looked super panicked as she turned to face the cop.

Welp—this part was their problem now.

Jasper shot out a web, and in a blink, he was swinging away.

Not long after, he ran into Iron Man. But Tony didn't seem to be in a rush.

He just patted Jasper on the shoulder and flew off.

"....."
