Thinking back to what Tsunade said before he left, Nawaki figured his sister must have already known about the mission—and was against it.
It made sense. With how much she cared about her little brother, there was no way Tsunade would be okay with Nawaki being used as bait to lure out some hidden threat.
Hiruzen Sarutobi patiently waited for Nawaki's decision.
After a long silence, Nawaki finally nodded.
"I understand, Lord Third. When do I depart?"
He too wanted to flush out whoever was targeting the Senju clan. One can't stay on guard forever—better to deal with it head-on.
As for danger, Nawaki wasn't too worried. With the Avalon sheath Tsunade had given him, he didn't have to fear poison or traps. And assassination?
What kind of Reincarnator gets assassinated?
Besides, who knew if the enemy would even take the bait?
"You can use today to prepare. Depart for the Land of Wind tomorrow," Sarutobi replied, smiling slightly as he pulled a scroll from the stack of documents and handed it to Nawaki.
This was the certificate for the Chūnin promotion task.
After taking it, Nawaki left the Hokage's office.
Not long after he left, someone knocked again.
"Come in."
The door opened, and a man with long, snow-white hair and a weathered face walked in—he looked at least in his thirties.
"Lord Hokage, you asked for me?"
"Sakumo, I have a mission for you."
Seeing the man, Sarutobi smiled kindly. This was one of Konoha's top combat forces—he couldn't entrust this task to anyone else. Not even to Tsunade or Orochimaru.
"Tomorrow, Nawaki will depart for the Land of Wind on a reconnaissance mission. You are to ensure his safety from the shadows. Make sure no one notices."
"Understood."
Sakumo nodded. Sarutobi hesitated for a moment, then repeated himself.
"No matter what happens, Nawaki's safety comes first. That's your top priority."

After leaving the office, Nawaki thought for a moment and decided to upgrade his Bio-Radar again.
Currently, it could scan a 1.5 km radius around himself or his Reincarnators, marking all lifeforms or objects below A-rank (Kage-level) on the dynamic map.
But this time the enemy was unknown. It could be Danzo, or Black Zetsu, or even… Madara?
After all, that guy was still clinging to life somewhere, and he had every reason to target the Senju clan—whether for his experiments on Sage Body lineage or pure revenge.
Even if the chance of Madara showing up personally was only 1%, Nawaki didn't want to gamble on it.
As a Reincarnator, he demanded 100% control over every outcome.
He spent 5,000 points to upgrade the Bio-Radar again.
Now, it could detect all non-S-rank lifeforms or entities within a 3 km radius.
He configured it so that any time an entity below S-rank entered range, he'd get a warning. With that setup, ambushes in this timeline weren't something he feared.
When he got home, Tsunade and Kushina were still there.
Seeing the scroll in his hand, Tsunade asked, "So you've decided?"
"Yeah. Once I complete this mission, I'll officially be a Chūnin—one step closer to my goal."
"Make sure to bring the sword sheath I gave you. It'll keep you safe."
She didn't try to talk him out of it—just gave him a gentle reminder.
Then she stood up and declared enthusiastically, "Let's go to that new BBQ place for dinner later. My treat!"
"Wait, wait—Sis, you still have money to treat us?"
Nawaki looked at her in disbelief.
Didn't she lose all her money at the casino just days after coming back to the village?
This whole time, Nawaki had been paying for groceries and meals with his mission rewards. If not, the two of them would've been starving at home.
"Heh, tada~!"
Tsunade proudly pulled out a thick wad of money from her waistband, her eyebrows radiating smug confidence.
"I'm one of the Legendary Sannin! Picking up a mission and finishing it is child's play. Don't underestimate your sister!"
Ever since news from the frontlines reached Konoha—saying that Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru led troops to victory against enemy nations, even forcing the so-called demigod Hanzo of the Rain to flee in defeat—the name of the Sannin was quickly spreading.
But if others saw you bragging like this, wouldn't your image be ruined?
Then again… considering in that other world, the Sannin were nicknamed "The Three Perverts" for their gambling, drinking, and womanizing…
Maybe Sis never had an image to ruin in the first place.
Finally, it was Kushina who exposed Tsunade's lie.
"Nawaki-nii, I saw it! Big Sis Tsunade got that money from Grandpa and Grandma Senju. It's supposed to be your allowance!"
"..."
Tsunade's expression froze. Nawaki even saw a bead of cold sweat slide down her forehead.
"Haha! Don't be mad, Nawaki! I was just joking! I totally wasn't planning to take your allowance and go try my luck at the casino. Maybe I'd win big and double it—you get half, I get half… I swear, I never even thought of that!"
You've already confessed everything, Sis!
Nawaki covered his face. After a while, he sighed helplessly.
"If you need money, just tell me. I'm not stingy. I still have plenty of silver notes. Consider this from Grandpa and Grandma, okay?"
"You're the best, Nawaki! I love you so much!"
Tsunade squealed in delight and hugged him tightly—fragrant and soft.
For just a bit of money, he got this kind of hug? Worth it.
Nawaki was overwhelmed with happiness.
Off to the side, little Kushina pouted when she saw how happy he looked. She glanced down at her own chest and mumbled:
"Hmph. Pervert. Cow lover…"
"Oh right, Sis—don't use this money for gambling. That's not gambling, that's donating."
"AAAHHH!!"
A wail of despair echoed through the entire Senju compound.
---
Early the next morning.
Wearing a flashy golden sheath on his back and his forehead protector perfectly tied, Nawaki stood at the village gate.
After saying goodbye to his sister, he leapt forward—not taking the main road, but darting through the trees, heading straight toward the Land of Wind.
Along the way, he activated the dynamic map, scanning for nearby Kage-level enemies.
Within a second, a very prominent marker popped up.
"Hatake Sakumo, huh… So Uncle Sarutobi really is taking my safety seriously."
