Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Roger

After seeing Roger collapse on the beach, nearly every member of the Roger Pirates rushed to their captain's side. Kuma, Ivankov, and Ginny, meanwhile, stood quietly off to the side, unsure of whether they should help or remain back—they were, after all, complete strangers to this powerful and tightly knit crew.

Koa, who had been trailing behind, finally approached the trio. The moment they saw him, their expressions shifted to relief, grateful that nothing had happened to him. Then, like Koa, their eyes turned toward the Roger Pirates, watching them carefully.

"We need to leave immediately," Rayleigh suddenly declared. "There's no telling what those dogs from the World Government might do next."

Without hesitation, the crew began preparing to set sail. Some members helped lift the unconscious Roger and tend to him, while Gaban turned to the four children watching them from nearby—Koa, Ginny, Kuma, and Ivankov. He sighed deeply.

"Sigh… You four. Come aboard. Let's see if you've got what it takes to sail the seas," Gaban said.

The three cheered while the rest of the crew looked confused. They had seen the children earlier but hadn't interacted with them. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, these kids were being allowed to join the Roger Pirates?

Rayleigh, however, wasn't surprised. He already had a feeling this would happen.

"YEEEE-HAWWWWW!!!" Ivankov yelled in celebration, bouncing with excitement. Kuma and Ginny exchanged a quiet, joyful smile. Koa, meanwhile, simply closed his eyes and silently said goodbye to the island that had been his home for the past five years.

The four of them boarded the Oro Jackson eagerly as the crew hurried to set sail.

"How's the captain?" Koa asked as Rayleigh emerged from the room where Roger had been placed.

"He's fine. Just exhausted. He'll need rest," Rayleigh replied.

"Maybe we can help. Ivankov can heal him," Koa offered, gesturing toward Ivankov, who was at the back of the ship, staring peacefully at God Valley with a contented smile. Ginny and Kuma stood beside him, also gazing at the island with quiet happiness.

Koa approached him and spoke gently. "Ivan, can you heal our new captain?"

"Oh! Yes, of course!" Ivankov responded, snapping out of his daydream. He transformed into a giant slug, immediately covering most of Oro Jackson's deck. Dozens of smaller slugs split off from his form, crawling onto the crew and beginning to heal their wounds and fatigue.

The sensation was immediate. Many of the Roger Pirates gasped in surprise, especially Rayleigh and Gaban, who were the most battle-worn and felt the soothing relief instantly.

"Please give this one to Captain Roger," Ivankov said, handing a special slug to Rayleigh.

Rayleigh nodded and brought the slug into the captain's quarters, placing it gently on Roger. The slug began its work immediately—his wounds mended visibly, color returned to his skin, and his breathing evened out.

-----------

While the Roger Pirates sailed away, a storm brewed over God Valley.

On the battlefield, Bogard was seen carrying the unconscious body of Vice Admiral Garp. Bogard himself was covered in wounds and blood, but he paid it no mind—his full strength was focused on getting Garp to the ship. He could feel something ominous stirring in the skies, and as one of the highest-ranking Marines on the island, he made a crucial decision: retreat.

After hauling Garp aboard the Marine vessel, he shouted to the crew,

"LET'S GO! THE HERO OF THE MARINES NEEDS OUR HELP NOW!"

In that moment, Bogard gave Garp a title—The Hero of the Marines. Unbeknownst to him, it would become the name Garp would be known by for generations to come. Garp had helped defeat Rocks and saved countless Marines at God Valley, though the world had yet to learn of this.

Meanwhile, near the shoreline, Saint Saturn and Saint Garling Figarland stood grim-faced. Around them, Cipher Pol agents were working to recover the sunken God Knights and the remains of the three destroyed Celestial vessels. They were ordered to search for both bodies and any possible survivors.

"Do we know who hunted the Celestials?" Saturn asked, his voice low and serious.

"No," Garling growled. "From the first strike during the Native Hunt to the explosions that destroyed the ships, no one saw a thing. We don't know if it was the Rocks Pirates or a traitor within Cipher Pol. But the strangest thing is—no one sensed anything. No Haki. No presence. Nothing. It was like... it was invisible."

The shame in Garling's voice was clear. As commander of the God Knights, the deaths of over a hundred nobles weighed heavily on him. He had failed in the worst way possible.

"Tell Cipher Pol to speed up. This island, and everything that happened here, must be erased," Saturn said coldly.

Hours passed. Cipher Pol finally recovered the three fallen God Knights. One of them, Shepherd Sommers, showed clear signs of horrific torture—his body broken from being drowned and revived repeatedly over an hour. A fate that would have made Koa smile, had he known.

Once all the bodies were retrieved, the Elders vanished, teleporting back to Mary Geoise and leaving Cipher Pol to finish the last phase.

God Valley lay silent. Empty.

High above, a concentrated beam of divine power descended.

In a flash of apocalyptic light, the entire island was obliterated—leaving behind a massive crater where God Valley once stood.

Its horrors, its secrets, its history… were gone.
