Chapter 9 - At Dexon

Prince Gregory rode hard on the horse, his cloak flapping behind him; beside him was Bloodeye, who was galloping on his horse as the horse sped over the rough plain.

Soon they could see rows of tents before them, indicating they had reached the war camp. Prince Gregory slowed his horse as he entered the war camp, and Bloodeye followed suit. The soldiers came out of their tent and those outside stood up straight to welcome their leader in the ongoing war.

Prince Gregory dismounted, the soldiers parted way for Lord Robert the Strong, who welcomed the Prince and Bloodeye with a smile plastered on his face.

"Welcome my Prince," he greeted with a bow.

"Thank Lord Robert, and thank you for holding the camp while I was away" Responded Prince Gregory.

"I'm only doing my duties as a war lord, your highness" Lord Robert the Strong replied humbly.

"And you've done it well, you will still have to hold the war camp a little longer"

War Lord Robert the Strong frowned, "Why, are you not staying here with us?" He asked.

"Yes, my father, the Supreme King, had agreed to end the war, but under some circumstances. I want to take the message to King Potter myself" Explained Prince Gregory.

"No your highness. I disagree, I can not let you, the leader of our army, go into the enemy's territory. We can send a messenger like they did to us." Lord Robert opposed.

"I understand you, War Lord Robert, but what my father asked of King Potter is difficult. I have to persuade him myself," said Prince Gregory.

"Then take enough soldiers with you, for protection " suggested War Lord Robert the Strong.

"Then how will they trust me when I show no trust in them, I'm going with just Bloodeye "

War Lord Robert opened his mouth to say something, but closed it back before any word could come out. He knows Prince Gregory so well, he had trained him before he left for the Benin kingdom, and he knows how stubborn the Prince could be when he is hellbent on doing something.

"Be careful, my Prince," He said finally.

"I will be," Prince Gregory replied, before mounting his horse and turning to Bloodeye, who never got down from his horse. The Prince had told him they would be leaving for Dexon immediately they got to the war camp, so he sees no reason to dismount.

"Let go," the Prince said to Bloodeye, and soon they left the war camp again.

Bloodeye and Prince Gregory rode for hours and hours, neither man spoke to the other they just kept riding till they saw a high war of the Dexon kingdom, they slowed their horses as they approached the iron gate.

Soldiers appeared on the wall with arrows. Bloodeye's gaze traveled around the walls, and his hand moved to the edge of his blade.

"No," came Prince Gregory's voice. Bloodeye turned to him, and the Prince shook his head. Bloodeye took his hand off his blade, and Starr stared at the gate that was still yet to be opened.

A few seconds later, the gate cracked, and it was opened. The Dexon soldiers with spears rushed out and surrounded them. Their captain, Captain Alric, stepped out, and when he saw Prince Gregory, he frowned in surprise. He is the only one among the soldiers at the gate who recognises Prince Gregory, and he was more than surprised to see him here.

"Prince Gregory " He greeted with a bow

Hearing the name, fear gripped the Dexon soldiers and they nearly dropped their weapons in fear, seeing this Bloodeye smirk.

"Tell King Potter I have a message for him, from my father, the Supreme King," Said Prince Gregory, unfazed by the number of soldiers surrounding him with weapons in their hands.

"Then I must invite you in, but you must drop your weapons," said Captain Alric

Prince Gregory nodded, he then unsheathed his sword and dropped it to the ground right I'm front of Captain Alric, Bloodeye did the same. Captain Alric gestured at one of the soldiers, who picked up the swords and took them in.

"Welcome to Dexon then," said Captain Alric as he led them inside, before the gate was closed.
