BRITTANY'S POV
Yes, the night was over, but it still happened to be the first time I've gone through a whole event without my family.
I missed them so much. I wished there was a way for me to communicate with them without having to see them physically but I belonged here now and there was no turning back so I asked Gloria to help with a sheet of paper and ink.
I sat by the table and wrote what I wished to send to my family. When I was about to finish, Giovanni, that arrogant man, entered.
I stopped what I was doing and went to bed. There was no place like home so I couldn't get much sleep.
I kept thinking of how my life moved to another phase in the blink of an eye. I couldn't believe that I was married and was involved in everything that was happening in this place.
Though things were making sense to me, I still couldn't consider this new place my home, especially when I was around a man like Giovanni.
I thought about his brothers and how kind they were to me but with everything I had been through in the past few days, I found it hard to believe that they didn't want something in return for being nice to me.
I didn't feel safe with new people, especially when I was sharing the room with Giovanni.
So, when morning arrived, I couldn't stop yawning as I didn't have my night rest. Even while washing up with the help of my assistants, I yawned and dozed off at some point.
Gloria noticed my actions. "You did not rest, Luna," she stated as she worked on my hair.
She had helped me wash up and dressed me up with a beautiful yellow long gown.
I opened my mouth widely to yawn, causing my eyes to water. "I'm so tired," I said.
"Why didn't you sleep?" I looked at her through the mirror when she questioned.
"I just couldn't. Do you blame me? I'm new to this place and I just can't trust everyone," I yawned again.
"I understand that adapting will take some time but you are occupied today, I don't think you'll have the time to take a nap anytime soon."
I must say, I was disappointed. But why would I be occupied?
"Occupied with what?" I inquired. She finished with my hair and then we heard knocks on the door, stopping Gloria from answering my question.
The door went open and with my attention in that, I saw Giuseppe walking in.
He searched the room with his eyes and when they landed on me, a smile curled up on his lips.
"Good morning, Luna," he said as he walked close to me.
Gloria gave us a little space by walking away from me.
I looked up at Giuseppe, smiling back at him. "Good morning, dear Giuseppe," I replied.
"Isn't it a good morning? It is a beautiful morning to me because I just laid my eyes on a gorgeous damsel like you and she happens to be my Luna! How lucky I am to have a goddess sit before me."
"It is indeed a good morning," I chuckled and let him take my hand.
"I've come to bring you to the dining room for breakfast. You must be starving," he assumed right.
I didn't feel the hunger because my body wasn't settled as I was in a strange land but now that he mentioned it, I realized that I needed to eat.
I needed to yawn so I lowered my head to do that. "Did you sleep?" He asked.
We were walking out of my room when he asked.
I didn't see Giovanni when I woke up from the little sleep I managed to have this morning and I was glad that I wouldn't have to see his face.
"I did but not much," I said.
"You must still feel unsafe here," he uttered.
I nodded. "I miss my home."
We entered the corridor. "You'll be meeting my father and his wife at breakfast and the beta, the gamma and their wives at the table if they have arrived.
I was meeting these new people without even knowing who I was surrounded with. This complexity of things around here just kept improving. How will I survive this place when there's no little chance or space for thinking?
But should I trust Giuseppe? I looked up at him and as if he knew I was going to do that, he glanced down at me and grinned.
"Why? Do you admire my looks?"
I shook my head. "No," I even buttressed my answer by shaking my hand.
"Come on. I know I'm handsome," he said.
"I really wasn't," I hated to fake things. I'd tell you how I really feel about something, not lie about it.
"Ohh," he sounded disappointed. "You are the first one to ever resist such handsomeness."
"Oh," I reacted and looked forward.
I wasn't used to this palace. Where were we going? It was taking us eternity to reach.
With the ceiling so high, the corridor so long and neat, we finally got to a door with two men standing around it.
"Your highness," they both bowed and to me, I thought it was Giuseppe they were bowing to, so I didn't acknowledge them and walked through the door.
When I saw the crowd, I swallowed. One, two, three… I was counting when I got interrupted by Dante. "Good morning, my queen," he was happy.
My families were the only ones who had been this happy to see me.
I felt needed and appreciated. I smiled at him.
"You look tired, did something happen? Did Giovanni…" as he talked of Giovanni, I saw the bearer of the name approaching us.
"He didn't do anything, that's the problem," I muttered.
"What do you mean my lady?" Dante asked.
"He didn't do anything?" Giuseppe question followed.
"Was I allowed to do anything, Luna?" Giovanni faced me with a frown.
It took me a moment to realize that I was surrounded by the three brothers.
"I do not appreciate the room being divided!"
Just like the steam from boiling water fade into the air, so did the tension between us vanished.
"As you wish, your Majesty," Giuseppe said so I touched him.
"Who's that?" I was curious. They seemed to respect him a lot.
Dante and Giuseppe were still around me as we slowly approached the table but Giovanni had left.
"That's my father and the woman beside him is my mother. She's very ill, causing her dullness," he explained.
"And she was human too?" I asked.
I was about to receive a response from Giuseppe when I felt someone taking my hand. I looked and saw Giovanni who was staring at Giuseppe.
"Former Alpha wants her with me," he uttered.
They frowned at each other until Giuseppe finally turned to find a seat.
I followed Giovanni as I had no other choice.
