Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 Blood...

Ruby

I was at my so-called villa when suddenly Adam called me.

"Dude, I need you—we got into a fight, and that idiot Luna wasn't listening to me. Come and save us before she gets herself killed and drags me along with her."

I sighed heavily. Luna. She's my friend, Luna Kingson—my family friend and also one of my closest people.

I was thinking: Which car should I drive?

Lamborghini? Nope.

Ferrari? Nah.

Benz or Range Rover?

Alright, Benz it is.

I took my keys and was about to leave when I heard a voice I least wanted to hear—my so-called mom.

"Ruby Daniel Sun! Where do you think you're going?!"

I rolled my eyes. "None of your business, Mom. And since when did you start caring about me? Why and where I'm going is not your problem."

"You're such a disappointment to the Daniel Sun family. You're a girl, but look at yourself. Who's going to marry you?"

"I don't give a shit about marriage," I cut her off. "I'm going out. Tell Dad I won't be home tonight."

I left.

Marriage? Being a girl means marrying someone and sacrificing yourself for a person who doesn't even care about you? Someone who only cares about their desires and housework?

I won't marry a man who only cares about himself and expects me to give up everything.

Because of society's mindset, being a girl means sacrificing your dreams, your freedom. No one ever gives you anything.

But boys? They get everything. They do whatever they want. No one questions them.

That difference—the inequality—that's the harsh truth of our world. That's what makes girls live in fear.

---

I drove to the address Adam sent me. I heard gunshots.

Luna's arm was bleeding, and Adam's face was swollen. Our enemies came prepared for a fight.

Whatever. I'm here now.

I pulled out my pistol and set my aim. My rule?

"Always aim for the head. Headshots only."

But sometimes, I have to aim for arms or legs.

I followed my rule. We stood side by side—me and Adam—covering Luna.

We fought back. Of course we won.

But I got shot—two bullets in my left arm.

Didn't care.

I'm used to pain.

I shot the last guy. He was part of one of our enemy gangs.

I told Adam, "After we rest, find out who they were."

My voice held the same calm aura—firm, controlled, no tremble.

"Don't look at me like that. Let's go."

I held Luna's arm and got her to the car. I was driving calmly.

"You idiot," Luna said.

She's the only one who could talk to me like that.

I replied, "Nope. I'm not an idiot. Just shut the fuck up and let me drive."

I have a proper army, y'know. My gang.

And our personal doctor.

I dropped Luna off and told Adam to call the doctor for both of them.

Made sure they were okay.

Left.

They kept insisting I treat my wounds, but I refused.

I don't know why. I just did.

---

Driving back to my villa, I spotted a familiar figure arguing with her sister.

Aveline and Mireline.

I stopped the car and shouted:

"Hello, idiots!"

They both turned and looked at me.

Suddenly, Mireline pointed at my arm. I wasn't wearing full sleeves—just my jacket, now ruined by blood and the fight.

Aveline closed the distance and grabbed my arm.

"Sis, it's bleeding! Let me see."

She examined the wound.

"You need to go to the hospital."

"Nope," I shook my head. "I don't want to go."

"At least let me treat your wounds, you dumbass," Mireline said, angry now.

She didn't even let me protest.

Now she was driving my car. Why? Dunno.

---

We reached their house. It was 11 at night.

Her home felt less lifeless than mine.

At least there's someone who cares...

---

"Mireline, I'm fine. Don't bother yourself because of me."

"No. You're my family friend. You're close to us. How could I let you die? Also, you're younger than me."

I sighed and let her drag me inside.

Aveline called the maids and asked for water and a first aid kit.

I was sitting like I owned the place.

Mireline forced me to take off my jacket. I did.

They saw my muscles—my veiny arms.

"No wonder you didn't feel much pain," Mireline said.

"Thanks for flattering me," I mumbled under my breath.

Aveline started treating my wounds. "You're just an idiot."

Mireline added, "Was it a gunshot wound?"

"Yes, it was."

"Well, thank God the bullet's out of your body now.

Tomorrow. Go. To. Hospital!"
