Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Quintuple Fusion Magic! Double Inferno Fire Blast!

The International Illusion Society had a partnership with the Suzuki Group.

On Suzuki Mina's eighteenth birthday, Bekas gifted her a terrifying fusion Spellcaster monster card.

This card had remained a mysterious trump card until the entrance exam, when Furuta Hajime's Ancient Gear deck forced Suzuki Mina to reluctantly use it.

It was precisely this card that secured her second-place ranking among freshmen and gave her the courage to challenge for the class president position now.

This card was a monster born from a quintuple fusion spell!

Quintet Magician!

"My turn, draw."

"I normal summon this monster card! Berry Magician Girl!"

"I activate Berry's effect, adding Kiwi Magician Girl* from my deck to my hand."

"From my hand, I activate Kiwi's effect, discarding it to the graveyard to increase the ATK and DEF of all Magician Girl monsters on my side until the end of the turn by 300 times the number of Magician Girl monsters on both players' fields and graveyards."

"Then I activate the spell card Monster Reborn!"

"I revive Chocolate Magician Girl from my graveyard and activate her effect, discarding Lemon Magician Girl from my hand to draw one card!"

"Ryo Nakamuta-kun, prepare for your defeat."

Suzuki Mina's card plays were swift and decisive, without a hint of hesitation, a testament to the combo already fully formed in her mind.

The moment her sequence was complete, she slammed a spell card onto her duel disk.

Spell card! Magical Fusion!

The signature fusion spell for the Magician archetype, allowing fusion using resources from both the field and graveyard!

In an instant, Chocolate, Lemon, Berry, Kiwi, and Apple—a total of five Magician Girl monsters—were banished from the field and graveyard!

Under a dazzling, multicolored fusion, a sorcerer's robe and staff reminiscent of Dark Magician materialized. An ultimate fusion monster card took shape before everyone's eyes!

Quintet Magician !!!

As its 4500 ATK stat appeared, an overwhelming sense of pressure filled the room, accompanied by the activation of Quintet Magician's explosive effect!

Its target: Devil Dragon Black Skull Dragon!

Boom!

With a resounding explosion, Devil Dragon Black Skull Dragon was destroyed and sent to the graveyard.

"Surprised, huh? My true ace monster, when fusion summoned using five different Spellcaster monsters as materials, destroys all cards on the opponent's field."

"And as long as this card remains in the monster zone, it cannot be tributed, cannot be used as fusion material, and cannot be destroyed by card effects."

"Ryo Nakamuta-kun, ready to surrender?"

Suzuki Mina's expression turned calm and confident, as if the appearance of Quintet Magician guaranteed her victory.

It was understandable.

Cannot be tributed—immune to cards like Lava Golem or Santa Claws.

Cannot be used as fusion material—Super Polymerization wouldn't work.

Cannot be destroyed by effects—immune to targeted or non-targeted destruction effects.

With 4500 ATK, it wasn't easily taken down in battle either.

For duelists in the six-dimensional world, dealing with this card was indeed a massive headache.

The onlookers' discussions grew louder.

"Whoa! What kind of monster is that? It's terrifying! How's Ryo Nakamuta-kun supposed to deal with that resistance?"

"I told you, how could Ryo Nakamuta be the top freshman? Miss Suzuki's monster is way stronger than some infinite loop!"

"Looks like the class president spot is Suzuki Mina's. It's over, no need to watch anymore."

"What are you talking about? I believe in Ryo-bro! He's got to have a way to deal with this Quintet Magician!"

From their chatter, it was clear most believed Suzuki Mina had clinched the duel. Even Asuka shook her head with a wry smile.

The only one still rooting for Ryo Nakamuta was Ikeda Hiromu.

This caught Ryo off guard, and he gave Ikeda a surprised glance.

This guy really knew how to pick his moments.

"Now, my battle phase."

"Quintet Magician! Direct attack on Ryo Nakamuta-kun!"

"Deal 4500 LP damage!"

"My turn ends."

With Quintet Magician's second explosive attack, Suzuki Mina regained a slight Life Point advantage.

Ryo Nakamuta: 3500 LP.

Suzuki Mina: 4000 LP.

The Life Point gap had narrowed, but the resource disparity was night and day.

"My turn, draw."

"I activate the spell card Monster Reborn, reviving Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my graveyard."

"Had your fun? Made enough noise?"

"I activate the spell card Inferno Fire Blast."

"This turn, my Red-Eyes Black Dragon cannot attack."

"Its effect deals damage equal to the original ATK of Red-Eyes Black Dragon."

"That's 2400 points!"

"Go, Inferno Fire Blast!"

Ryo Nakamuta smirked playfully, unleashing his true trump card spell.

On the field, Red-Eyes Black Dragon spewed black flames, bypassing the monster zone and hitting Suzuki Mina directly, reducing her LP to 1600.

"So what?"

"You'll lose next turn."

"Your burn damage won't help."

Suzuki Mina remained unfazed as her Life Points dropped, already calculating how to win on her next turn.

"Oh? Sore wa dou kana?"

"One burn card might not do it, but what if I have a second?"

"And don't forget, this card's effect doesn't have a once-per-turn name restriction."

As he spoke, Ryo Nakamuta revealed a second Inferno Fire Blast from his hand, showing it to Suzuki Mina.

One second later.

Silence. Absolute silence across the field.

The only sounds were Red-Eyes Black Dragon's second roar and the surge of black flames.

Followed by the system's prompt announcing Suzuki Mina's Life Points dropping to 0.

The duel was over.

Yet the onlookers and Suzuki Mina hadn't snapped out of it, staring in petrified shock as Quintet Magician and Red-Eyes Black Dragon shattered into fragments on the field.

"Shameless! You're too shameless!"

"Who plays a duel like that!"

Snapping out of her defeat, Suzuki Mina's voice trembled with tears as she pointed at Ryo Nakamuta, shouting in frustration. Her unwilling gaze lingered on her hard-summoned Quintet Magician.

This was her ace monster! It hadn't even unleashed its full potential, and the duel was already over?

Why did this guy have two Inferno Fire Blast cards in his hand?!

Was it luck?!
