Chapter 6 - First Meeting

After the homeroom teacher introduced himself, all the students began to introduce themselves one after another.

To Yang Xiong's surprise, everyone in this class actually had an innate soul power of level 5 or higher. Considering there were more than twenty students in the class, it was clear that the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect had gathered all the children with high innate soul power into one class for focused training. No wonder even an ordinary homeroom teacher was a Soul King.

Yang Xiong even suspected this was the sect's elite class, especially since even the sect leader's daughter was in it.

Another unexpected detail: there were actually several students with the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile as their martial soul, though their innate soul power was only level 5.

At that moment, it was Ning Rongrong's turn to introduce herself.

"Hello everyone, my name is Ning Rongrong. My martial soul is the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda, and my innate soul power is level 9. I came here today with my father and Grandpa Jian. You're welcome to visit my home anytime!"

Her introduction caused quite a stir. The Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda was the core inheritance of the sect, and an innate soul power of level 9 made her practically untouchable among the children. There was only one other student with innate soul power as high as level 7, and no one had reached level 8.

Moreover, Ning Rongrong was extremely beautiful, immediately drawing everyone's attention.

Yang Xiong, however, could only laugh to himself. Ning Rongrong was known as a little troublemaker. She might look cute and obedient now, but who knew if she'd eventually turn the class upside down.

Besides, girls with a "princess complex" were difficult to deal with. Yang Xiong had no interest in socializing with her. With his blunt personality, if he made her cry by accident, who knew if someone might come after him with a sword.

Eventually, it was Yang Xiong's turn, he was the last student in the last row.

He stood up and said plainly, "Hi everyone, my name is Yang Xiong. My innate soul power is level 6, and my martial soul is my entire body."

Since his martial soul was his own body, he couldn't summon it like the others, which puzzled the students around him.

All the students were taken aback. None of them had ever heard of a martial soul being someone's entire body.

But homeroom teacher Lin Gong smiled and nodded. "Very good. Even though your martial soul is a bit unusual, your innate soul power is quite decent. You definitely have the potential to become a high-level soul master."

Yang Xiong paid no attention to the other students' curiosity and sat back down.

In the distance, Ning Fengzhi quietly said to Sword Douluo, "Uncle Jian, a body as a martial soul is rare. It's just a pity about his innate soul power level."

Sword Douluo, who had been resting with his eyes closed, nodded slightly. "A body-type martial soul is extremely rare in the soul master world and notoriously difficult to cultivate. In our entire sect, we only have one such person."

There were no actual lessons on the first day, just opportunities for the students to get to know one another.

Yang Xiong casually glanced around and was surprised to find that Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo had already left without anyone noticing.

Ning Rongrong, however, was still there, surrounded by other students like stars orbiting the moon.

Yang Xiong sighed and went back to reading his book.

Since all the students were from within the sect, the school didn't have dormitories. There were no classes in the afternoon either, so students had free time, they could go home or train in the school's practice grounds. Judging from the atmosphere, most chose to go home and meditate.

Teachers stayed in their offices, ready to answer questions at any time.

To his surprise, among the teaching materials distributed, aside from literacy and basic soul master knowledge, one book stood out: The Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soulsby Yu Xiaogang. This suggested that the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect did recognize Yu Xiaogang's theories to some extent, no wonder Ning Fengzhi would later quote his ideas.

However, Yang Xiong found the book quite mediocre and limited in scope. While it might be useful for beginners, it wasn't suitable for training true prodigies.

Yu Xiaogang, after all, was only a Grand Soul Master. He lacked exposure to high-level soul beasts and top-tier talents. This lack of firsthand experience likely contributed to his eventual rejection by the broader soul master community.

After reading extensively, Yang Xiong realized that Yu Xiaogang's book merely summarized ideas from many sources. While it might help beginners, it actually limited the development of geniuses.

With Yang Xiong's level of knowledge, the textbook content was already familiar, he even had his own interpretations. During class, he would usually sit in the back corner, quietly reading his own books.

The school had a dedicated library, richly stocked with all kinds of books. It was open to all internal members.

Yang Xiong went there every morning to borrow a few books, then spent the rest of the morning reading.

The homeroom teacher, Lin Gong, was a bit exasperated by this student who never paid attention in class.

But after testing him with a few questions, he discovered that Yang Xiong always answered fluently and accurately. Eventually, he stopped worrying about Yang Xiong, as long as he didn't disrupt the class.

Lin Gong even spoke with Yang Xiong privately, hoping he'd interact more with his classmates. After all, they were the future pillars of the sect. Building connections early could be beneficial.

But Yang Xiong's response left him speechless:

"Teacher Lin, soul master cultivation is a path against the heavens. Compared to so-called social connections, I think it's more important to train hard, especially since my martial soul is unique. I want to find a path that suits my own cultivation."

Lin Gong couldn't help but sigh. "Maybe you're right. If I had your mindset and determination back when I was a kid, maybe I wouldn't have ended up just a Soul King."

As time went by, everyone in Class 1 of Grade 1 knew there was an oddball in the class, a student with a strange martial soul, who loved reading and rarely interacted with others.

Yet this same student consistently ranked first in the class. He aced every exam, even answering obscure questions flawlessly, always leaving the teachers thoroughly impressed.

When other students asked him questions, Yang Xiong provided detailed explanations and even drew insightful inferences, more like a teacher than a student.

Yang Xiong understood very clearly that a full-body martial soul was extremely weak in the early stages and hard to cultivate. But in the later stages, its growth would accelerate and even surpass all other martial souls.

That's why he trained so hard and read so diligently, only through relentless effort could he strengthen his martial soul. Only by acquiring vast knowledge could he find the true cultivation path for his body-type soul.

Not to mention, body martial souls had a major flaw. To overcome it, one needed to master a large number of combat techniques. Yang Xiong didn't want to waste time developing self-created soul skills just yet, but he knew knowledge would form the foundation for everything in the future.
