Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: New Companions

Reid was quite satisfied with the gains from this G Invasion. Just the system rewards alone amounted to 18,600 G-Coins and 60 Merit Points.

His gaze then shifted to the previously empty Mobile Suit Hangar in the Factory Module, where two units now stood: a Kampfer with its cockpit charred and weapons stripped but otherwise largely intact, and an NT-1 Gundam with an undamaged cockpit but completely ruined arms.

Without hesitation, Reid ordered the Factory Module to begin analyzing both units, extracting their data—prioritizing the NT-1 first, followed by the Kampfer. Once the analysis was complete, both units would be dismantled entirely.

The Kampfer could later serve as the base for a High-Speed Mobile Suit through secondary outfitting or be sold as military hardware.

As for the NT-1, Reid planned major modifications. The impractical twin 90mm Gatling guns on its arms had to go, and the backpack system could also be revamped. He recalled that its successor, the RX-78 NT-X, was capable of mounting Wired Control Bits.

The design philosophy behind those was similar to the Gun Barrel system of the Moebius Zero. He could develop a backpack system based on that, since creating a full Psycommu System from scratch would be too challenging right now. The Moebius Zero's Gun Barrel system, on the other hand, could be sourced from any of the three major powers of the Earth Alliance. Plus, with his Spatial Awareness, he could maximize the system's effectiveness.

The only regret was that the NT-1 Gundam's system evaluation remained stuck at C-rank, falling short of B-rank. This disappointed Reid somewhat.

It proved that the NT-1's performance still lagged significantly behind the five G-series units completed over half a year later. Given the specs of those five G-units from Heliopolis, anything below B-rank would be downright unreasonable.

At this point, unless he could pull a B-rank unit from the system, it seemed unlikely he'd obtain one before embarking on Phase Two of his mission.

After all, the other two invasion campaigns were set in UC 0079, where the technological level of the mobile suits was inferior even to the NT-1. Unless he was willing to expose Minovsky Particle technology and field two outdated Large Mobile Armors as walking targets on the battlefield.

It was worth noting that both the NT-1 Gundam and the Kampfer could be converted into Battery-Powered Mobile Suits, given that CE's Ultra-Compact Batteries were borderline black tech. But those massive Mobile Armors? Forget about running them on batteries—no amount of black-tech battery output could keep up with their armaments, and their mobility was lackluster at best.

Still, those were plans for later. Right now, something more pressing demanded his attention. With the 60 Merit Points from this operation, plus the scattered points earned from previous bandit-suppression side missions, his total had finally surpassed 100—now standing at 114. This meant Reid could perform another ten-draw.

However, he wasn't in a hurry to use the system's gacha. First, he went to reassure Angie and Noin, then discussed with them whether to "recruit" new companions or "bestow" new mobile suit technology.

There was no helping it—Reid simply couldn't bring himself to tell the two women that they had been "pulled" from the gacha. He feared they might retaliate by physically "pulling" (i.e., hitting) him. So, he framed it as completing certain missions to "pray to the divine" for more companions or to "request" new mobile suits and technologies.

However, when Reid excitedly found Angie and called Noin to Angie's office, the way they looked at him was rather strange.

From Angie and Noin's perspective, what had just happened was this: Reid had previously spoken with utmost seriousness about completing a divine trial by participating in a battle in another world. He had even prepared last words before leaving.

Yet, mere minutes later, Reid returned completely unharmed, enthusiastically telling them he could now recruit new allies or acquire new technology—asking which they should choose.

Thus, Angie and Noin, who had just been worrying about Reid's safety, suddenly felt their earlier distress had been a waste of emotion. There was absolutely no sense that Reid had just been through a life-and-death battlefield.

Fortunately, the two women reacted quickly. Upon learning that Reid had completed his divine mission and even brought back two new Mobile Suits, they immediately declared: "What do we need technology for? Can it eat or work for us? Get us more people!" Though managing the Colony Satellite's internal affairs didn't require much effort, external matters were overwhelming.

Reid himself also leaned toward recruiting personnel—for the same reasons as Angie and Noin. Their current usable manpower was far too limited. Moreover, none of the three had any administrative skills, making them hesitant to open the Colony Satellite to immigrants from other regions.

After all, as the only neutral faction currently possessing Mobile Suits—while also being recognized as sovereign by both PLANT and the Earth Alliance—the Star Palace Colony Satellite was practically the best choice for those seeking to escape the war.

Furthermore, the outside world knew Star Palace needed to develop, meaning it would inevitably absorb a large population, with plenty of job vacancies.

Thus, every time a transport ship arrived at the New Misurugi Republic to deliver goods (or conduct trade), it would bring stacks of applications—countless people eager to join the New Misurugi Republic, along with numerous merchant guilds hoping to establish a presence.

However, Reid knew that with just the three of them, managing immigration was impossible. So all these applications were put on hold—who knew how many among them were spies trying to uncover their secrets?

This time, Reid desperately wanted to recruit an administrative-type talent. Unfortunately, the system's options didn't include any bureaucrats.

Thus, Reid had to settle for the next best thing: pilots. After all, many pilots were national leaders or corporate executives—top-tier like Haman Karn, slightly less impressive like Dorothy Catalonia, or even someone like McGillis Fareed would be acceptable.

In any case, Reid solemnly burned incense, bathed, washed his hands, then returned to the office and extended his hands to Angie and Noin, saying:

"Come, place your hands on mine and pray for the talent you desire. The rest… we leave to fate."

Reid wasn't doing this to sneak in some cheap physical contact—this was purely superstition, believing that three people's wishes would be stronger than one.

Fortunately, though Angie and Noin found Reid's behavior odd, they didn't suspect much. Holding hands was harmless—it wasn't like Reid would dare grope them right in front of each other.

So Angie and Noin both took Reid's hands, after which he immediately accessed the system and selected a ten-pull character summon, set to "Pilots."

This time, there was no red meteor shower—just the standard blue sky and white clouds, with one guaranteed blue meteor accompanied by nine white ones descending.

White meteors were most likely attribute points, and Reid wasn't in a hurry to allocate them yet.

But before clicking the blue meteor, Reid was praying fervently—please give me someone with strong administrative skills. After all, a blue rating for a pilot only meant their mecha operation skills were average, not that their administrative abilities were lacking.

When he tapped the blue meteor, Reid was delighted. The avatar showed a woman with large round glasses and a professional bun—she clearly looked competent in administrative work.

Her name was Lady Une (Gundam Wing). He remembered she should be from the same world as Noin and seemed to be an antagonist to the main protagonists in the early stages.

After quickly opening all the white meteors to obtain a pile of attribute books, Reid immediately exited the system and asked Noin:

"Noin, do you know a female officer named Lady Une? Our new partner seems to be her. She appears to be from the same timeline as you."
