Chapter 5 - She's the one

Amarah's Pov

I clutched my torn clothes with what little strength I had left. All eyes were on me curious, skeptical, waiting to see what gave me the nerve to defy them. Truthfully, I didn't know where the audacity came from. But whatever force had pushed me this far, I prayed it wouldn't abandon me to die at the hands of a Lycan.

"Let me go... you monsters!" I screamed, stumbling away from the vampire. Tears blurred my vision as I stood shakily. Deep inside, I was terrified, barely able to breath but somehow, I kept up the act of being strong. I didn't know how I did it. Maybe instinct. Maybe desperation.

"You're the stubborn one, huh?" the vampire sneered.

My heart plummeted to the pit of my stomach.

Grandma had died so I could live… Was this how I honored her final wish? By getting myself killed? The image of him draining all the blood in me haunted me.

I trembled as the vampire approached.. I took a step back. Then another. Until the cold swall pressed against my back. A crooked, dead end.

He smiled when he saw I had nowhere left to run.

I held my breath. I could already feel his teeth grazing my neck. He smelled like rot and death old, dried blood clinging to him like a second skin. My instincts screamed to fight, but I had no strength left. No power. Not even my wolf.

I couldn't die like this.

"I… I'll strip," I whispered with tears, my voice trembling.

The vampire hesitated. I felt his hot breath against my skin. Just as his fangs brushed my neck, a sharp voice cut through the tension.

"Get your ass off her! " the Silver eyes lycan ordered once he entered the cave looking dungeon.

The vampire snarled in protest but stepped away after a pause.

The pressure in my chest eased. I exhaled shakily. I wasn't going to die yet . Atleast Not today. And not by having my blood drained from my body while the others watched.

"Not that one Beta. You are not allowed to treat her anyhow. " The man that was inspecting us quickly shoved my hair downwards, lifted my hair and touched the back of my neck. The same place the silver eyed lycan touched the first time we met.

"I'm sorry my queen" he said, bowing gently to me with smile..

"Excuse me? " I scoffed. " Your queen?. Have you lost your mind finally?"

"You can free the rest. Everyone should go. We don't need them" He said.

The words barely registered over the pounding in my ears. My queen? What kind of twisted game was this?

I stared at the man in front of me, cloaked in black, . He was the one inspecting the kidnapped, deciding who lived and who died. And now he was bowing to me?

My instinct was to recoil, but I was frozen. The others looked just as confused as I felt. Murmurs rippled through the room. A few girls gasped. One even sobbed in relief when the guards began unlocking the cages.

"You heard me!" the silver-eyed Lycan barked. "Set them free."

"But she's an omega," the vampire from before protested, pointing at me like I was filth. "She doesn't even have a pack, she's got no mark, and—"

"She's mine" the silver-eyed Lycan growled. His voice was deep."Touch her again and I'll rip your tongue out through your throat."

The vampire backed off instantly.

I gaped at the Lycan, stunned. "Yours?" I asked hoarsely. "I don't even know you."

"You're not awakened yet," the man explained. Ignoring my anxiety."But the mark is there. Right where behind your neck"

"What mark?" I asked hoarsely, wrapping my arms tighter around myself. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"The Moon's Crest," the silver-eyed Lycan said quietly. "Only those born of the royal bloodline carry it."

"You've got the wrong girl," I said, my voice cracking.

"No," he said, stepping closer. "You're the last surviving heir of the Gemini line. Hidden for two decades. And now we found you"

My knees gave out.

But before I hit the ground, he caught me.
