"Are you ready?"
"Yes, I am."
Colt's adventure on Earth ended.
After the fight with that monster called Kingzilla or whatever, everyone was shocked. Even the best heroes couldn't inflict more than a scratch, but a helper could. Classic. An underdog saving the day.
But Colt didn't care about that. Actually, he was never seen after that incident, because it was time. One week after that, the demon, Inuth, came back and said that cheeky line:
"I am a demon. You will come to the demon realm with me as my servant," with a big laugh on his face. He was obviously here for revenge since Colt ripped off some of the benefits by asking for the healing power instead of the magic power.
However, he was disappointed when Colt answered with a "Sure, let's go!"
"Huh? Wait, are you sure you understood what I said?"
"Of course, I did. Won't I become your servant? I can wash any clothes you have or prepare tea. You are an angel in my eyes, you gave me the power I wanted."
"Are you an idiot? I did give you the power, but I deceived you," Inuth said. Being called an angel out of all things made him cringe. "There is no end of the Earth, even if there was, you are now my servant, and you won't see it. So, you sold your soul for nothing!"
"No way, I have powers now. If you didn't give me the healing power, I would be powerless. You are even better than an angel, maybe an archangel?"
Inuth's face would turn red if it could. Let's see if this bastard could be the same when I work him to death!
Colt was relieved since he could take his revenge at least partially. Of course, he wouldn't stop here.
The contract was that he would be the servant of Inuth. If he were to disobey, he would be punished. Without being allowed to, he couldn't leave the demon realm, hide from Inuth, or harm himself. So, there was no way out.
But that wasn't correct. There were many ways out. But Colt was focusing on two of them. The first one was that if another demon bought him or requested him in exchange for a debt, he would either be freed or be under the other demon.
This option was easy, but not a surefire way. Colt knew a few strong demons who could take him, but even then, demons weren't trustworthy. Also, Inuth wasn't that bad. Apart from deceiving people, he was more like a guild leader.
Of course, he had decided to work Colt to the bone, but it was okay. He was already working him to the bone in the past timeline. And since Inuth didn't know the past timeline, Colt would be working the same amount while Inuth thought he was working more.
The second option to be freed from the contract was harder, but at the same time, simpler. If he were to become stronger than the demon who signed the contract, meaning Inuth, he would be freed since Inuth couldn't use the contract to impose punishment.
And Colt had everything he needed to become strong enough while hiding both his magic power and his power from Earth. This way, he could make the biggest impact in the demon world.
---
The demon came one day before the time was up, not giving Colt any time to say his goodbyes. Luckily, Colt knew the time had come, so he talked to his parents. He told them that he would be leaving forever, but he would be alive.
Even though his parents asked for the reason, if he was indebted or running away from someone strong, he didn't give the real answer, and he didn't lie. He just said that he needed to leave to become stronger, but he wouldn't come back.
His parents, obviously, didn't like this situation at all. But they also knew that they wouldn't be able to stop their son. He was already 28 this year. At least they would know that he was alive somewhere else.
They were no idiots. Colt's body developed a lot after he became 18, and his body stopped changing at the age of 25. That was the time Colt's body started becoming a demon. When they also thought about the money he gave them...
They already knew their son was not normal. They even had some guesses about it, but they never told him anything. If he even hid from them, it meant that there was a reason behind it.
And if their guess was correct, they would learn it soon since their guess would vanish and wouldn't be seen in front of the camera anymore. So, in the end, even though they were reluctant, they accepted the reality.
Apart from his parents, Colt didn't have anyone to give farewell. He had worked as a helper for ten years, but he wasn't on friendly terms with anyone since he wore a mask and didn't talk much.
The few heroes who acted favorably with him died during the last fight, causing the Earth's defence line to vanish. Since Kingzilla wasn't the last boss, and the Earth would merge with the demon realm, though, he was sure that Earth would live on.
Even in the last timeline, they lived without him. So, he was ready to go. Inuth opened a portal in a narrow alley, and they stepped into it together.
His real adventure was beginning only now.
