Chapter 4 - Chapter .4 Break Up Cafe

Jason picked up the sleek black phone from his desk. The screen lit up and unlocked instantly through facial recognition.

"Initializing gift…"

He raised a brow. "Huh?"

Before he could react further, a message popped up on the screen. He immediately remembered the fat angel's parting words.

Typical.

A digital window slid open with a new message:

"I decided to leave you a gift. After all, I did throw you into a world based off my novel. This is the Daily Intelligence Software. Every 24 hours, you'll be presented with random information about someone or something in this world. That's it. Goodbye. Oh—and you'll slowly regain the previous Jason's memories. They'll come back through sight and sound. Thought dumping them all at once might explode your brain. Alright, later~."

Jason blinked, letting the message sit for a moment.

"So that explains what happened with Daisy…"

That flicker of recognition—he hadn't imagined it. The old Jason's memories were trickling in, and clearly, the angel didn't plan to make it easy.

He tapped the screen.

Jason Yun

Age: 19

Height: 6'3

Weight: 84 kg

Body Fat: 8%

Status: Healthy

Today's Intelligence

[Tap to Reveal]

Jason hovered his finger over the screen. Another memory bubbled up in his mind—Jason had once been overweight. The novel barely acknowledged it. But now he saw why the change happened.

It was Alice.

The original Jason had heard she liked fit guys, so he hit the gym hard, changed his body, and remade himself… all for her.

Jaxon sighed. "Dude was down bad…"

It wasn't just the workouts or the diet. The man had changed his whole life trying to impress a woman who barely looked at him. And what was worse—he knew she didn't like him. He just refused to accept it.

Jason cleared the thoughts and tapped the reveal button.

At 2:15 p.m., on Gardon Street, a woman will be kidnapped in broad daylight in front of a massive crowd. Yet no one will witness it.

Jason's eyes narrowed. "The hell?"

Before he could process it further, a knock came at the door.

"Young Master?"

"Come in."

Daisy stepped in, holding a thin folder. "The report you requested on Miss Alice Han."

Jason took it and flipped through the first few pages.

Alice Han

Age: 20

Daughter of Director Han, CEO of Han Industrial Group.

Current Location: Springwell Café, as part of her daily routine. Leaves around 10:25 a.m.

Jason scanned the rest and shut the folder. "She's still doing her café routine, huh?"

"Yes, sir. Would you like the car prepared?"

"Yeah. Right now."

Daisy nodded and left to make the call. Jason pocketed his phone and stood up.

His expression darkened slightly.

He remembered now—how the old Jason would grovel to Director Han every chance he got. Fake smiles, forced compliments, trying to earn favor by licking boots. All in the hope of impressing Alice.

Jason shook his head.

Pathetic.

Elsewhere

Han Corporation

Director Han sat at his massive desk, sipping from a glass of aged whiskey, scanning through some reports.

His assistant entered with a tablet.

"Director. Jason Yun has canceled your meeting today."

Han looked up. "Canceled?"

"Yes, sir. No reason was given either ."

Director Han chuckled and swirled his drink staring out his office window .

Back in the car, Daisy sat in the passenger seat, tapping on her tablet. Jason sat behind her, eyes half-lidded, thinking.

"Director Han has asked for a reason regarding your cancellation. It was an important meeting for ongoing project negotiations," she said gently.

Jason gave a faint smirk. "Let him wonder."

Daisy glanced at him through the rearview mirror. His entire demeanor had changed—colder, more composed. He wasn't acting like the clingy young master she was used to serving.

The café came into view.

Jason opened the car door himself before the chauffeur could move, stepping out smoothly. He ignored the surprised look from the driver and headed for the entrance.

He wasn't used to being pampered like royalty. And honestly, he didn't care to be.

Inside, Springwell Café was humming with its usual crowd. Baristas worked the machines while quiet chatter filled the warm atmosphere.

Jason's entrance didn't go unnoticed. His tailored suit, sharp jawline, and confident posture had the room whispering.

Girls stared. Some smiled. A few adjusted their posture.

Guys? Mostly annoyed. A few recognized him and rolled their eyes.

Jason spotted the familiar table in the back.

Alice sat there, dressed neatly in a beige coat and black slacks. Beside her were two girls—Lisa, her sharp-tongued friend, and another who barely looked up from her phone.

As he approached, Lisa's eyes locked on him.

"Seriously?" she groaned. "Jason, again? How many times does Alice have to say—"

Lisa stopped mid sentence as Alice gestured her hand

Lisa grumbled and fell back into her seat.

Alice's eyes met Jason's. "What is it this time?"

Jason looked calm. "There's something we need to discuss. Privately."

"I'd rather not," Alice said.

"That's fine," he replied. "We can do it here if that's how you want it."

The words were polite. But the tone—flat, dismissive—sent a ripple of confusion through the table.

Even Daisy, standing quietly in the corner of the café, raised a brow.

Jason exhaled and said it plainly:

"Let's break off the engagement."

The room froze.

Chairs creaked. Forks paused. Gasps echoed.

Someone whispered, "Did he just say that?"

"Young Master Yun? No way…"

Lisa's mouth hung open. Even the usually unreadable Daisy looked stunned.

Alice stared at him, caught off guard for the first time in a long time.

"…What did you just say?"

"I want to end our engagement," Jason said.

He didn't explain himself. No emotional appeal. No dramatic monologue.

Just the decision.

Alice glanced around, then stood up. "Follow me."

They walked past the curious onlookers into one of the café's private rooms. A server quietly closed the door behind them, leaving the two alone in the plush, dimly lit space.

Inside, the atmosphere was still—but thick with tension.

Alice folded her arms, expression unreadable. "You realize this engagement isn't really up to either of us, right?"

"I know," Jason replied, taking a seat across from her.

She narrowed her eyes slightly. "Then what exactly are you planning?"

Jason leaned forward, elbows on the table, voice calm but serious. "I'm going to talk to my grandfather. He's the one who pushed for the engagement in the first place. If I can convince him to drop it, the rest will fall in line."

Alice blinked, clearly caught off guard. "…You think that's going to work?"

Jason shrugged. "It depends. But I know him. He doesn't waste time with things that don't benefit the family long term. If I can make him see that this arrangement isn't worth the hassle—or the image damage—he'll kill it himself."

Alice studied him for a long moment. He wasn't pleading. He wasn't acting like the same boy who used to chase her like a lost puppy. He was calm, clear, and… serious.

Then, finally, Alice leaned back and crossed her legs. "If you can get your grandfather to officially dissolve the engagement—and do it without blowing up half the deals tied to it- Who am I To stop you."

Jason gave a faint nod.
