Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Chakra Natures

"Boss, give me a chakra nature test paper!"

"That'll be 100 taels!"

Saitama Uchiha carefully put the chakra nature test paper into his waist pouch after receiving it from the shop owner.

During today's class, Saitama Uchiha realized that despite all his training, he had never checked what innate chakra natures he possessed.

After school, Saitama Uchiha went straight to the weapon shop where he'd bought things before.

Ordinary weapon shops usually sold chakra nature test papers, and these weren't particularly rare or precious items.

After paying and securing the test paper, Saitama Uchiha turned to leave.

Before long, Saitama Uchiha reached his usual training area in the forest.

The area showed clear signs of daily training — thanks to Saitama's routine. However, Saitama no longer planned to change locations. If people saw, then let them see.

There was no need for excessive concealment — that'd just raise suspicion anyway.

He casually chose a spot and sat down cross-legged.

Taking out the purchased test paper, Saitama Uchiha held it in his hand and gradually funneled chakra from his body into the paper.

One corner caught fire, another curled up, and finally a clean slash formed right down the middle.

So… wind, fire, and lightning, huh?

This kind of test paper couldn't detect his *yin* nature. Therefore, he currently had wind, fire, lightning, and a hidden *yin* nature.

Not bad — standard Uchiha-level chakra natures. Saitama Uchiha couldn't help but feel pleased.

He crumpled the chakra test paper in his hand and buried it beneath the ground.

Within a short time, microorganisms in nature would decompose this paper completely without leaving any trace.

Standing up, Saitama Uchiha prepared to head home for dinner.

Ka Po-pu should've already prepared dinner and be waiting for him. He'd only taken half an hour for the chakra test — not that late at all. His timing for returning home seemed appropriate.

When approaching the entrance to his house, Saitama Uchiha sensed something was off about the surrounding atmosphere.

His heart tightened. Saitama Uchiha quickly entered through the main gate.

"Little Saitama, back already?"

Ka Po-pu stood safely in the courtyard, and Saitama exhaled in relief.

Looking at several new figures in the yard, Saitama remained silent.

"Saitama, these are the clan guards. They said they needed to speak with you."

"I understand, grandmother. You go inside and rest. I'll handle things here."

"Oh, very well then."

Ka Uchiha knew better than to stay; she wouldn't be of any help anyway.

Watching Ka disappear inside the house, Saitama Uchiha nodded toward the two individuals claiming to be clan guards, gesturing for them to sit on the courtyard benches.

The pair curiously examined Saitama as well.

Dressed in the standard high-collared Uchiha attire, the two appeared quite young, probably around twenty years old.

Saitama Uchiha observed both men similarly.

"You're Saitama Uchiha, right?"

One of the individuals finally broke the silence.

"Yes, sir,"

Saitama Uchiha kept his posture humble since he was still merely a student at the ninja academy.

"I've heard about you from Shisui."

"What did Shisui say?"

"He said you have great talent."

Saitama smiled and looked at the speaker.

"Sir, you should know how I performed in school. Is that what you call great talent?"

Saitama asked, knowing these two had definitely investigated him beforehand.

"Yes, that precise and exquisite shuriken-throwing technique really showed your talent!"

"Didn't expect word to spread so quickly!"

Saitama straightened his face and stared directly into the man's eyes.

"Shisui told us about your talent, but we didn't quite believe it until today's incident convinced us to come find you."

"So what can I do for you then?"

Saitama raised an eyebrow slightly.

The man pointed at himself and another silent companion beside him.

"We're from the Uchiha Clan Guards, under the Uchiha clan itself."

"I see."

The man mentioned their affiliation with the Uchiha clan without referencing Konoha.

Instantly understanding, Saitama realized—had the Uchiha already begun making their own plans?

Had the conflict reached such a head-on confrontation already?

A flicker of confusion passed through Saitama's eyes.

"Right now, Shisui is on standby as one of our assets!"

Saitama understood completely.

"You know why we're here," the man continued. "Join us! For the Uchiha!"

He stood up, his gaze burning with passion.

"Now that we've talked this much, may I ask for your name, sir?"

Saitama hesitated before responding.

"I'm Uchiha Mori, and this is my teammate Uchiha Hayashi."

The man introduced himself and his partner.

Perhaps realizing his approach had been too direct, Uchiha Mori smiled.

"Joining us benefits not only the clan, but also greatly enhances your own strength."

"At school, no professional ninja guides your training."

Uchiha Mori smiled knowingly, confident this argument would already be enough to tempt Saitama.

They'd thoroughly investigated Saitama before coming, not acting on impulse. They knew Saitama was extremely ambitious, often practicing alone in the forest.

Of course, these leads originally came from Shisui, later verified through their own field investigations.

"I'd gladly serve the clan!"

Saitama didn't pretend reluctance. After all, he'd always planned to stand with the clan.

As an Uchiha, he wouldn't betray the clan like Shisui and Itachi did in those stories, choosing instead to become a lone wolf against everyone!

That would just make him feel like he betrayed everything he stood for—without gaining anything in return.

Though saying this still felt premature at this moment.

Uchiha Mori's eyes brightened instantly.

"Welcome aboard!"

Uchiha Hayashi beside him also showed a smile.

These members of the Uchiha Clan Guards naturally felt especially connected to their fellow Uchiha members.

"Saitama, do you currently have the strength to graduate?"

Uchiha Mori asked cautiously.

Though they acknowledged Saitama's impressive talent, they hadn't seen him fight seriously, so they couldn't fully judge his strength.

"If the Guards need me to join soon, I can apply to graduate next semester."

Saitama gave a straightforward answer without pretense.

"Alright then, Shisui will apply for graduation next semester too. You and Shisui can apply together."

"Okay."

Saitama wasn't someone to overcomplicate things.

Having someone guide his training was reason enough for him to join the Clan Guards.

Truth be told, Saitama had long been dissatisfied with his current progress—it had been far too slow.

Plus, he had activated the Sharingan and needed some guidance.

Talent alone wasn't enough; without proper guidance, even the best talent would go to waste.

"Then let's leave it at that. I hope to see you in the Clan Guards next time we meet."

Uchiha Mori and Uchiha Hayashi both stood up and headed toward the door.

Their purpose today had already been achieved, so there was no need to stay any longer.

"Same here. I also hope to meet you in the Clan Guards soon."

Saitama followed them to the door and watched them leave.

This was the first good news he received today—a chance to join the Clan Guards.

After closing the door, Saitama turned around and thought about everything that had happened.

With this event happening today, his plans were about to change.

According to Saitama's original plan, he would develop steadily, graduate from the Ninja Academy in his second year, find a capable Jonin, train under them diligently, and try to shine during the Third Great Ninja War.

Now, the Uchiha had approached him directly. It seemed like they intended to secretly cultivate him as a fresh force for the Uchiha clan.

Saitama himself was quite happy about this opportunity. Originally, he had planned to support Team Uchiha anyway, so joining their ranks directly was perfect timing.

Creak!

The door to Ka Po-pu's house opened.

Ka Po-pu walked out and looked at Saitama standing in the yard.

"Little Saitama, I know you've always been mature since childhood. You always have your own judgment about things. This time the clan approached you, and I won't interfere. I just hope you won't regret your decision!"

Ka Po-pu smiled warmly, speaking as if giving an everyday reminder.

"I understand. Don't worry, Grandma!"

Saitama said confidently. He wouldn't regret anything he had done.

An adult had to own his choices.

He was confident he wouldn't let down anyone who had set their hopes on him.

"Good, I won't nag anymore."

"What would you like for dinner? There's some chicken left over from lunch. I'll make some vegetables too. We can manage with that?"

"That's fine, Grandma Ka."

Saitama didn't care much about food—he trusted Po-pu's cooking completely.

What happened today still needed time to sink in.

Going upstairs to the third floor, Saitama sat cross-legged on the tatami mat.

Beside him lay several scrolls of [Ninjutsu] left by his parents.

If someone asked what the Uchiha clan was most famous for, only a few would mention the Sharingan.

Not every Uchiha could awaken the Sharingan.

So for many, the true signature traits of the Uchiha were Fire Release techniques and expert ninja weapon throwing.

The jutsu left behind by his parents were naturally mostly Fire Release techniques.

There were three scrolls laid here, two of which were Fire Release techniques.

Saitama had seen their contents long ago.

One was the well-known Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, while the other was Fire Release: Crimson Phoenix Flower Claw.

The former is a C-rank ninjutsu, and the latter ranks at B-level.

As for the other scroll, it contained a genjutsu called [Demonic Chaining Stake].

The Great Fireball Technique is common. When casting it, the user gathers chakra at the back of their throat and spits out a massive fireball from their mouth toward the enemy, blasting them into the air.

Crimson Phoenix Flower Claw is an advanced version of the Phoenix Fire Technique. Once the basic Phoenix Fire is released, flames scatter in all directions like seeds bursting forth when touched, shooting out from the caster's mouth to attack enemies. And all these flames are controlled by chakra, making it extremely difficult to avoid completely. It's not only visually stunning but also surprisingly powerful.

Crimson Phoenix Flower Claw combines the Phoenix Fire Technique with flaming shuriken that whirl through the air, each blade coated in scorching heat. These blazing weapons strike the enemy like falling crimson petals from countless phoenix flowers, delivering even greater impact than the standard Phoenix Fire Technique.

[Demonic Chaining Stake] is also a rather powerful genjutsu. Once activated, the victim clearly knows they've fallen into an illusion yet still cannot move at all.

Like being pressed down by a ghost—just like sleep paralysis!

This genjutsu is somewhat similar to Jiraiya's Sage Art: Frog Ensemble, though its binding strength definitely falls far short of Jiraiya's technique.

After memorizing all the hand seals, Saitama got curious about his parents' past identities.

These ninjutsu were still quite powerful, especially the last two. He never thought something like this would just be left behind for him without his family ever trying to reclaim it.

After carefully putting the scrolls away again, Saitama lay flat on the tatami mat doing nothing, staring determinedly at the ceiling.

If I've made a choice… I'll follow it through to the end!
