"Dare, go check up on Darian," Zayden said, frowning angrily. His gaze landed on Lucas, and Lucas suddenly felt a shiver down his spine. "Sure," Dare said as he left the group and went to the third floor.
"Why didn't you help out?" Zayden said, slowly walking up to Lucas. "What do you mean?" Lucas said, chuckling nervously.
"You remember what I told you when you wanted to join our group, right?" Zayden said, "I don't want any person to hold us back. And right now you're holding us back. Every time we fight, you never try to help, even though you're strong enough to do so. It's like you want us to do everything for you, while you reap all the profits."
"Right now, I have the urge to kill you," Zayden said with a sadistic smile forming on his face, "but once again, since I'm a good person, I'll give you the chance to survive. You have three seconds to get out of my sight. Once the time is up, I won't stop Tyrel from putting a bullet in your head."
"You guys can't be serious," Lucas said, laughing nervously. "We need each other if we want to survive." "Correction, you need us, we don't need you," Tyrel said
"3"
Sweat could be seen dripping down Lucas's face. He knew he wouldn't survive if he left this group. He just planned to use them as a shield until he leveled up high enough to be on his own, but it seemed like they had caught on.
"2"
"Give me a second chance, I promise to help out this time," Lucas said, desperate to stay alive. But the cold gazes of both Zayden and Tyrel told him that it wasn't possible anymore.
"1"
At this point, Tyrel was already pointing his pistol at Lucas, his grip firm and his index finger a centimeter away from the trigger.
"Why don't we all calm down and take a step back?" a voice said from behind the duo. They both turned around to see a young man with brown, curly hair that stopped just below his shoulders. Surprisingly, his eyes were a cyan color, abnormal for a normal human. He had a lean complexion, and in his hand was a short dagger. Behind him was a group of boys that amounted to about twelve
"We are all facing an apocalypse, so do you think we should help each other and not kill ourselves?" he said with an amicable smile on his face.
This was something that Zayden noticed when he reached level six. Above the head of a person, like in a video game, he could see limited information about that person. Like their name and level.
[Aiden Cross Level 5]
Zayden wasn't surprised that this person was level five, after all, Aiden Cross was the vice president of the student's council, and from his memories, he was the one who saved Zayden and helped him leave the dorm, even though he wasn't able to make it far into the apocalypse, he was still a nice person.
"Good to see that you're not dead," Zayden said with a genuine smile "but I don't want this guy with me, so if you don't want me to kill him, why don't you let him join your group" "I was planning on doing that anyway" Aiden answered
"I saw when you guys fought the beast, you're really strong, and you seem to have adapted to this apocalypse very well," Aiden said. "So join our group, it would make surviving here a whole lot easier."
"While I'm grateful for your invite, I don't plan on leaving the dorm anytime soon, my team and I already have a plan, and joining your group would make that plan a whole lot harder," Zayden explained.
"I see," Aiden said, the disappointment evident on his face
"Even though we couldn't join you, we've helped you out a little. The two floors below this are cleared of the nulls, so you should have an easier time going out," Zayden said.
A hint of surprise could be seen on the face of Aiden and the people behind him. "Thanks," Aiden said, "I'll be on my way then and hope you survive."
At this point, the injured Darian and Dare had already joined them. Even though they didn't hear all that was said, they had a rough understanding of the situation. "Same," Zayden answered as Aiden and his group, who now housed Lucas, started walking away.
"Let's get going, guys," Zayden said to the group. They headed to one of the rooms on the fourth floor, while Dare used his bots to do some scouting. "It seems like the mutant beast helped us kill the mini boss," He said while looking at the holographic feed from one of his cameras.
"Darian is injured at the moment", Zayden said. "So why don't we wait before challenging the fifth floor?" Everyone agreed with him and went about doing some things since this floor was already cleared of the nulls.

Zayden couldn't help but smile slightly at the increase in his stats. "Guys, I'll go solo to the fifth floor while you guys rest," Zayden said as he walked out of the room without waiting for their answer.
Zayden headed up to the fifth floor. He was cautious, but at the same time excited. The average level of the nulls on this floor was level five.
Stepping onto the floor, he could already see a group of about five nulls, their levels ranging from level four to five. "Come at me," he said with his blade in his hand while he charged at the nulls.
****
"Haa!!" Zayden released a heavy breath that he didn't know he was holding all this time. There was a limbless null on the ground in front of him, twitching slightly, before breaking down into golden particles that were absorbed by the body of Zayden, leaving behind one red orb.
"Twenty," Zayden said as he stored the orb in his spatial ring.
"Ma, you took all the exp," Tyrel said as he turned around to see the remaining three members of his team. "Unfortunately, I was unable to level up," he said, smiling wryly.
It was at this point that cracking was heard, and Zayden's blade broke down. "That's to be expected' he added. "Since you guys are ready, let's go face the boss," Zayden said
"What happened to the mini-boss of this floor?" Dare asked, "There was no mini boss, only a multitude of nulls," Zayden said as the group walked toward the stairs that led to the roof of the male dorm. They were finally fighting the boss monster.
