Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 A guest arrives

And this was Dutch's plan.

He wanted to accelerate the process of women gaining suffrage, and to do so, he had to offer certain benefits to promote the improvement of women's treatment, even to the point of raising the treatment of all American women and stirring their emotions.

In other words, he would set up some women living in paradise as role models, to make other women envious, jealous, and hateful, then drive them to madness, thereby impacting Congress and even forming a large-scale alliance to challenge the entire country.

All the talk of freedom, equality, and noble character was false; Dutch was exploiting human jealousy.

When you see other female workers with their own rooms, doing decent jobs, while you can only be the boss's maid, or even a sex worker, with no income, unable to even support yourself—aren't you jealous?

Others get twenty-five dollars a month, free time, no hard labor, and even free food and coffee—aren't you envious?

Others can live with their children in rooms provided by the factory, creating a beautiful and harmonious little family, while you can only live under a bridge with your son, never knowing where your next meal will come from, and constantly being bullied—aren't you envious?

That's absolutely certain!

So their emotions will surely be stirred! At that time, the originally small-scale, small-group women's movement will be pushed to one climax after another!

And after most women, dissatisfied with their treatment, joined the women's rights association, they discovered that their backer was actually the God of the heavenly kingdom they dreamed of, who even provided them with free food and coffee. What kind of thoughts would they have then?

Undoubtedly, if Dutch wanted to be president, women would be the first to agree!

What is a capitalist?

This is what a capitalist is, a true capitalist. Not those useless bloodsuckers, parasites clinging to others.

Besides a six-square-meter cabin for each person, Dutch also specifically ordered the procurement of bedding and daily necessities for the rooms, ensuring that people could start working immediately upon arrival.

From this, it is evident that Dutch's conscience is truly good!

In just three days, the houses were completed.

For these factory buildings, various supporting facilities, and worker expenses, Dutch paid over three thousand dollars.

"Oh, Dutch, aren't our rooms too well-furnished? You know those Englishmen don't have such good living conditions," Sean said, clicking his tongue as he looked at the brand-new bedding and some daily necessities in the room.

He knew what kind of working environment the Englishmen had.

Without hesitation, if those English laborers who could only sleep on ropes saw this scene, they would surely die of envy.

Dutch stood smiling at the very front of the crowd, looking at the decorations before him, his face full of an infectious smile, a gentle elegance, and a feeling of warmth like a spring breeze.

"Oh, Sean, you're wrong, child. These common folk have suffered enough in life; we don't need to make them work harder just for a little profit.

What's more? Sometimes, sharing profits appropriately can bring more benefits, benefits that even money cannot buy."

Dutch patted Sean's shoulder, then turned and walked out.

Arthur looked at the renovation in front of him with a sigh of emotion, then followed Dutch out.

"Tsk!" Arthur pulled out a cigarette, lit a match from the sole of his boot, then took a light puff. He looked at Dutch walking ahead and asked, "Dutch, the shops in Valentine and Strawberry have been bought and are being renovated. Should our factory start hiring workers too?"

Saying that, he offered Dutch a cigarette.

"Oh, no hurry, child. Wait for Ms. Dorothea's news. I think her news will come in the next couple of days." Dutch leaned against the railing outside the wooden cabin and took the cigarette Arthur offered.

Lighting the cigarette, Dutch held it between his fingers across his chest, thought for a moment, then spoke, "Our factory isn't just about this little bit of work. In fact, transportation is also an issue, especially if a wagon carrying thousands of dollars worth of clothes passes through the wilderness. So, Arthur, our veteran plan is also a top priority. I think we can go see Mr. Trelawny now."

"Alright." Arthur nodded, then got up and walked towards the stables.

Most of the tasks Dutch had assigned over the past three days were almost done. Hosea and the others did a good job building the houses. They hadn't gone to Vulture Ranch yet to see the situation, but it was probably similar.

The large wooden cabin where they lived was decorated especially beautifully by the ladies, filled with the warmth of home, and little Jack was overjoyed.

And this time, Dutch planned to take the opportunity to check the size of the rooms arranged by Ms. Dorothea and how Mr. Trelawny's veteran plan was progressing.

Living in the West without some armed force truly made one uneasy.

Just as the thought arose, a piercing gunshot rang out from in front of Hope Happiness Ranch.

"Bang bang bang!"

"Oh ho ho, gentlemen, look what we've found here? A new ranch! And a ranch out in the wilderness! I think the money in here will nourish our souls, and the women in here will nourish our bodies!"

As soon as the gunshots rang out, a wild laugh came from the ranch entrance.

"Slam!" The wooden cabin door behind Dutch swung open, and then David, Micah, Bill, Javier, Charles, John, Sean, Hosea, and even Pearson and Uncle rushed out. Ms. Grimshaw even walked directly out of another wooden cabin with a shotgun, and Arthur, who had just come out of the stables, quickly approached the group's position.

"Sh*t! These damn bastards!" Arthur pulled out his revolver, his face full of rage.

Dutch's expression was even stranger; for the first time, he felt this sense of being outdone.

Damn it, we're the Dutch Van der Linde Gang! We've changed professions recently and aren't doing robbery anymore, but we're not dead and unable to hold a gun!
