Chapter 3 - A knock on the heart

Chapter 3: A Knock on the Heart

This morning felt very different. It was a very beautiful morning for me. I went to the window and opened it. The weather was very romantic. Birds were singing songs. There was a soft breeze. I felt everything deeply. Then I picked up my phone. Jasmeen's social media profile had become my favorite place now.

Her smiling pictures, her vlogs, her professional shots, some with friends, some alone, some with her family — I felt like I was getting to know her more and more.

I whispered her name from social media — Jasmeen.

Such a beautiful name — just like her.

Today, I didn't feel like going to the office because I hadn't slept at night. But responsibilities were calling me. And second, my sister was in the hospital. I was very stressed thinking about it.

Then I got ready for office, made some food, ate it, and left for work.

I felt something different today.

Now I was in the car. I called my mom, who was in the hospital.

I said to my mom, "Mom, how is sister?"

Mom said, "She is better than yesterday."

I said, "Thank God. Sister is better now."

I cut the call.

After hearing this news, I was happy, and I went to the office with new happiness.

On the road, there was a lot of traffic and a polluted environment. But I managed it and entered the office.

Then my employees asked me, "Sir, something's different today — you're smiling more."

I replied, "Yes, maybe something good is about to begin."

The routine kicked in again — files, calls, meetings, work — but my heart kept drifting somewhere else in between.

Then I managed myself and tried to focus on my work.

During lunch, my second team member also asked me, "Sir, you seem a little off these days. Is everything okay?"

I smiled and replied, "Yes, just… the heart is a little stuck somewhere."

But I didn't want to tell him everything.

In the evening, instead of going straight home, I didn't wait for her because now I knew where she was.

Then I came back to the hospital. I had no excuse — my heart simply said, "Just go once more."

I asked the nurse, "Sister, I want to meet Dr. Jasmeen."

She said, "Wait for some time."

I said, "Okay, sister."

Then I saw her. She was at the reception, signing some forms.

I slowly walked up to her and said, "Excuse me, Dr. Jasmeen."

She said, "Yes?"

I said, "Hello."

She smiled and replied, "Hey! You came again?"

I lied, "Yes, came to collect a report."

She laughed, "Your sister is doing better, right?"

I said, "Yes, much better. And thank you for that day."

She said, "Don't mention it. It's my job."

We talked for a while. And for the first time, our eyes met — and then shyly looked away.

I asked, "Are you very active on social media?"

She replied, "Not much, just sometimes. Why?"

I smiled and said, "Your account is so nice. Really beautiful pictures, vlogs, etc."

She blushed a little, "Thanks."

Then my mom called me again and said, "Where are you, Jass? Come and meet me on the second floor of the hospital right now."

I said, "Oh! Sorry, Mom, I'm coming."

Then I said to Jasmeen, "Okay, bye Jasmeen. See you later."

She replied, "Okay, bye."

Then I went to Mom.

There was a unique smile on my face.

Mom said, "What happened? You're smiling so much."

I said, "Nothing Mom, all is okay. Where is sister? I want to meet her."

Mom said, "Yes, she is in her room. You can meet her now."

I entered the room. I smiled.

I said to sister, "How are you, sister?"

She said, "I am okay, brother."

Then I came out from the room.

I went again to Jasmeen's room.

I said, "May I come in, Jasmeen?"

She replied, "Yes."

I asked, "How many more days will my sister be admitted in the hospital?"

She said, "If she gets better, you can take her home. But I think she's not much better yet. So she needs to be admitted for 2 more days."

I said, "Okay."

Then I came back to Mom.

Mom said, "You go home now, son. I will stay here. Don't worry."

I smiled and replied, "Yeah, Mom."

Then I went home.

I made dinner. I called my brother to eat the dinner. He came, and we both ate together. Then we went to our room to sleep.

But again, I missed Jasmeen. And that moment when I met her.

Today was my second meeting with her. I am very impressed by her. I have many different types of feelings in my heart for her… but I can't tell her.

Today, I am very tired. So I can sleep.

Today was a very nice day for me.
