Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Caught in the Mirror Trap

The sound no longer resembled sobbing. The maid was clearly startled for a moment before bowing respectfully. "Miss Su isn't feeling well. His Highness instructed me to take good care of her while he finishes his affairs."

So that was it. Su Wanwan finally let out a breath of relief, her legs going weak as she slumped down, wiping the lingering fear from her forehead.

The prince was still so considerate—and clearly not angry with her over what just happened. He must know that her charm far surpassed such a trivial mishap.

Thinking about how she was so adored by His Highness Prince Xiao, Su Wanwan's face lit up again. She straightened her back, looking as if she had just won a battle. I wonder if the people next door heard that. Even after something like this, the prince still cares for me. That nympho next door—if you have any sense, you should just pack up and leave!

"Thank you for your kindness, Your Highness. Please have some delicious cakes and fruits brought over. I'll enjoy them later with His Highness."

Meanwhile, Su Yiyi had already slipped out of the private room and was fumbling her way into another chamber.

With her experience and skills, slipping past their defenses was a breeze! She had overheard Lord Bai mentioning that the grand prize was stored in this room?

This chamber was elegant and spacious, with valuable antiques neatly displayed on every side. Su Yiyi's eyes sparkled. She wasn't here for poetry readings, but this? This was the sweet rhythm of getting rich…

The young woman, engrossed in her excitement, had no idea that her every move was being watched by two figures hidden in the dark.

The room was cleverly designed. A tall mirror hung against a carved wooden wall, and behind it was a darkened room from which everything could be seen through the two-way glass.

That sneaky little woman picked up a small vase and pretended to tuck it into her sleeve, then hesitated and placed it back.

"How can a petty thief be this brazen?" The man in black took a step forward, but a slender hand motioned for him to stop.

That girl… she looked familiar somehow.

Seated lazily on a couch was a man dressed in flowing violet robes, his long black hair cascading down like silk, his skin pale as snow yet unable to hide his devastating charm.

The jade crown and green belt ornament only enhanced the nobility and otherworldly grace he exuded.

He narrowed his beautiful eyes slightly, a flicker of danger within them. One slender finger gently stroked his lips as he pondered silently.

Faced with all these antiques and treasures, Su Yiyi quietly sighed. If she'd known sooner, she would've brought a sack. What was she supposed to do now?

Just then, a small black box with a faint glow caught her eye.

Delicate patterns of flying dragons and clouds were etched into it. The intricate characters seemed to hold a mysterious power. Its cold touch was like a venomous serpent crawling across her skin. Two golden words immediately flashed in her mind: Treasure!

Behind the mirror, a glint flashed in the man's eyes. That black iron treasure box was sealed with a hidden lock and could only be opened with the Xiaobai key. This woman thief was clearly overestimating herself.

And yet, with a soft click, Su Yiyi casually tossed the key aside and said nonchalantly, "Well, that was harder than expected."

"…"

It only took her a few seconds?! Who the hell is she?!

Opening the mysterious iron box, Su Yiyi held her breath, expecting some legendary treasure. Her eyes sparkled with greed—but a second later, she frowned and muttered in disappointment, "What is this, a goose egg?"

"Oh, what a dumb thief," the left guardian sneered. She didn't even know about spirit beast treasures and dared to steal from them? He only waited for His Lordship's signal to kick this idiot overboard.

Only heaven knew how devastated Su Yiyi was right now. Among all the priceless treasures here, only this giant goose egg could be taken without immediate detection… Was this fate punishing her?!

She grumbled bitterly, and just then, the gleam of light made her blink. She turned and stared curiously at the tall mirror behind her.

"Your Highness, has she discovered us?!" The left guardian stiffened. Su Yiyi's gaze felt like it pierced through the mirror. The girl approached cautiously, her expression alert.

Su Yiyi had felt something was off from the start—like someone was watching her. Now, staring at this strange mirror, she couldn't help but grow more suspicious.

Her small, puffy face became clearer in the glass. The girl now stood directly in front of the mirror. Nangong Huang's captivating eyes glimmered as a particular memory surfaced.

So—it was her!

The man smiled wickedly as a gentle breeze blew past. The left guardian looked at the open window in alarm. "Your Highness?!"

At that moment, Su Yiyi had already taken a step back in shock. A two-way mirror?! Damn it, was she caught?!

Retreat, Retreat! Time for the Thirty-Six Stratagems—run for your life!

"Trying to run? Too late now." A voice, deep and magnetic, chuckled from behind her, sending goosebumps all over her body.

Su Yiyi froze. Through the mirror, she saw silky black hair flowing behind her, an elegant collar revealing smooth, delicate collarbones…

That voice—how could she ever forget it? That stunning woman!

Before she could fully process it, a cold grip seized her wrist and slammed her hard against the mirror.

The faint scent of lotus entered her nose, and that devilishly handsome face was inches away from her own!

Su Yiyi instinctively pressed her hand against his chest, and a dangerous thought popped into her head—rape first, kill later? Wait, no! Her heart was pounding wildly. "Hey, beauty—don't be like this—I-I'm not that kind of girl!" Actually… if it's like this… maybe it's not so bad?

Wait… this feels even smoother than before!

A sultry voice came from above, laced with danger but intoxicating to Su Yiyi. "Pighead… where do you think you're touching?"

Nangong Huang's eyes darkened, countless violent punishments flashing through his mind. But the girl in his arms simply looked up at him seriously and then muttered something that made him choke:

"My Lord, has anyone ever told you… you look even prettier when you're mad?"

"…"

Prettier?! He hated when people said he looked prettier than a woman. Wasn't that basically an insult to his manhood?! Especially when he was a dignified demon king who could slaughter thousands with a single wave!

"Say that again?" His voice now brimmed with killing intent.

Su Yiyi's senses instantly sharpened. Danger! She laughed awkwardly, "Haha, I mean… my hand slipped! Totally slipped!"

She quickly pulled her hand away from his chest and wiped it on her sleeve. But in her heart, she was already chanting: I'm never washing this hand again, ever.

"Where is it?" Nangong Huang wasn't in the mood to joke. As long as he got back the Nine Dragon Order, he'd crush this pigheaded thief with a single flick!

What? Was the Demon King really here to get… his underwear back? Wait—did he treasure it that much?! Su Yiyi was baffled. She had considered taking his underwear as a souvenir, sure—but right now… nothing was more important than survival!

"The item… it's been taken…"
