Chapter 13 - Reckoning with the Ten Elders

"Ahem, ahem." Michelle was pale, slumped against the wall, blood covering him. His right arm was severed at the elbow, his left calf was broken, and the revolver he had been holding had slipped to the ground. At this point, he had reached the end of the road—his mental energy was completely drained, his physical strength nearly gone, and his body badly injured. There was no way out. In front of him stood more than a dozen Black Shadow Warriors, weapons raised.

With a bitter smile, he said, "I never imagined that I, Michelle, would die here… at the hands of an ordinary person." "But mark my words!" Michelle laughed wildly, tears streaming down his face as he shouted, "I'll wait for you in hell! The Ten Elders won't forgive you. Your death will be even more miserable than mine..."

Bang. A single gunshot rang out. Michelle was instantly killed with a precise headshot, his body collapsing to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.

The Shadow Warriors didn't heed his words. Their mission was clear: obey orders and eliminate Michelle without hesitation.

With Michelle's death, the last survivor in Shelby's villa was wiped out. The once fierce battlefield fell completely silent.

At that moment, Vega emerged from his hiding spot, eyeing the person who had fought so desperately but was ultimately defeated. He couldn't help but sigh.

"Is that one of the Ten Elders?" he wondered. "They're a high-level force in the underground world." "It seems I've stirred up a lot more trouble than I expected."

Vega silently thought, Daniel screamed for help, but the Black Shadow Warriors were too fast—he was killed before anyone could react, crushed by a grenade. Now that I consider it, Michelle must have been a subordinate of one of the Ten Elders.

Vega observed Michelle's outfit carefully. There was no sign of the Yin Beast's markings in his memory—meaning Michelle was just an ordinary person with the ability to 'think.'

What about the real experts belonging to the Ten Elders and those famous Yin Beasts?

Vega frowned, thinking that those must be far stronger than Michelle.

After all, to surround and kill Michelle, his Black Shadow Warriors had suffered heavy losses, almost dragging him down by sheer numbers.

Though the Ten Elders seemed like overrated relics with grandiose reputations, easily defeated by the thirteen-person Phantom Brigade, and their Yin Beasts wiped out by Uvogin alone, Vega now held a different perspective.

He didn't dare underestimate the power of someone with the ability to think after seeing the heavy toll Michelle inflicted.

His mind grew alert: he could no longer view the hunter world through the eyes of a god. Everyone's strength needed to be reassessed.

The Monroe family, one of the Ten Elders, was decimated by a single person with the ability to kill dozens of Black Shadow Warriors—even injured and cornered, Michelle fought to the death.

Imagine then the power of the top subordinates of the Ten Elders, the Yin Beasts, who have an even more fearsome reputation.

How many Shadow Warriors would it take to kill one of those Yin Beasts?

Would it require a hundred, or even a thousand Black Shadow Warriors to lay siege to such a creature?

Vega's Black Shadow Mask could only summon a hundred warriors at the moment.

Could this small force truly resist the wrath of the Ten Elders seeking revenge?

Even if it was just the Monroe family, one of the Ten Elders, that needed to be confronted, Vega shook his head in doubt.

He recalled how Uvogin of the Phantom Brigade withstood countless firearms attacks unscathed—even surviving bazooka bombardment.

The Yin Beasts, seeing Uvogin's defense, still charged recklessly.

Had the strength of the Yin Beasts been overestimated because they died too quickly? Or were they actually stronger than believed?

If this was the case, Vega knew he'd need to strengthen his arsenal to face the upcoming retaliation.

Looking down at Michelle's lifeless body, Vega noticed that upon Michelle's death, his experience points suddenly increased by over thirty.

This surprised Vega.

Every time he killed an enemy before, he only gained a small amount of experience. He had thought the points were fixed, but apparently, they scaled with the strength of the opponent.

"So that's how it works," Vega's eyes gleamed with insight. "A weak person like Michelle gives over thirty experience points. So if I kill someone strong, would I instantly gain hundreds of experience points?"

If I destroy the Monroe family—the Ten Elders—how many experience points will I get?
