Chapter 1 - Betrayal of trust

When Johnson first laid eyes on Lydia, she was en route to her workplace. It was the inaugural moment he had ever encountered Lydia, for she possessed an extraordinary beauty that captivated him.

On the second day, Johnson finally seized the opportunity to approach Lydia on her return from work. He halted her, utterly enchanted by her allure, rendering her overwhelmed with exhilaration. From that moment forward, he began sending her gifts and roses, thereby ensnaring Lydia's heart. She felt she had encountered a man divinely sent to her, and she reveled in Johnson's thoughtful treatment.

During the weekend, she visited her friend's residence and encountered her friend's parents outside. She greeted her mother warmly, who responded with a captivating smile, welcoming her. "My dear, your friend is in the backyard; go and join her so you two can indulge in some gossip,"the mother suggested. Lydia smiled appreciatively and dashed to the backyard to meet her friend.

"Good evening, Janet!"she exclaimed. Janet turned, recognizing Lydia, and enveloped her in a hearty embrace, for it had been nearly four months since their last meeting. "I sense something has brought you here. What is it?"Janet inquired. Lydia playfully retorted, "Oh, you little rascal, go away!"

A few hours later, the two friends sat outside, and Lydia began to regale Janet with tales of Johnson, her smile growing wider with each word. Janet, eager to hear more about this gentleman, queried, "Is he tall, handsome, dark, and muscular?"They both chuckled, and Lydia assured her, "Don't worry; I will introduce you to him on Monday."Janet was delighted by the prospect.

Clearing her throat, she asked, "My dear friend, where does he work?"Lydia replied, "Ah, I neglected to inquire; it slipped my mind."Janet responded, "No worries, I shall ask him. Lydia, come on, spill the tea!"She playfully spanked Lydia on the shoulder.

On Monday, as Lydia arrived at work, she discovered that Johnson had dispatched a rider to deliver breakfast to her since she had arrived late. Overjoyed, she couldn't contain her excitement and rushed to Johnson's place, only to find him absent. Her mood soured, and she returned to her office. In the evening, just as she was about to leave, Johnson arrived, immediately apologizing. "Forgive me, my beautiful princess; I had to attend to an inspection."When she inquired about his occupation, Johnson smiled and replied, "I am a farmer."

Her expression shifted when she probed, "What type of farming do you engage in?"Johnson responded, still smiling, "Poultry, aquaculture, pig farming, and dog breeding."Lydia beamed and said, "That sounds wonderful! I would love to see the pigs."Johnson replied, "Thank you, Lydia. I hope you can forgive me."She teased, "Yes, but next time, it won't be so easy to forgive."Just then, Janet walked in, and Lydia exclaimed, "Thank goodness you arrived at the perfect moment!"

She introduced Janet to Johnson, and they exchanged pleasantries. Janet remarked, "So, you are the reason my friend has been acting this way?"Johnson, with a charming smile, replied, "I assure you, I have done nothing."Janet retorted, "If you say so."Turning to Lydia, Johnson said, "I would like to meet your parents."Lydia quickly interjected, "No, please, not now. Give me time to set things right before you come; my father can be quite aggressive if a male friend visits.""Oh, I understand,"Johnson replied, and he dropped them off, driving away. However, he parked his car nearby, discreetly following them until he discerned where Lydia resided.
