Oakley sat quietly at the corner of the dark and smelly cell she was put in. The place reeked of blood and urine which made her feel extremely nauseous.
Her mind replayed the words of her mother in her head like a broken tape recorder, but tears seemed to have dried out from her eyes as she did not feel like crying anymore.
Infact, she had cried so much that she already had a headache.
She wondered if it was possible to escape from this place. She had been blindfolded the entire time by the men who took her, and the blindfold was only taken off after they had put her in the cell.
"What's your story?" Oakley suddenly heard someone ask. From the voice, she could tell it was a woman.
"I- I don't understand." Her voice was a bit hoarse from crying so much earlier.
"I mean, how did you end up here?" The woman rephrased her question. "Were you kidnapped?"
"Oh." Oakley sighed. "Worse. My mom sold be off." She said, smiling bitterly.
"Oh. That's even worse." The woman said, her voice laced with sympathy. "For how much?"
Oakley shrugged her shoulders, though the woman couldn't see it. "She's in debt, and this was the only way she could think of to pay it."
The woman sighed. "I wish I could help you, but I can't. I couldn't help myself anyway."
"What happened to you?" Oakley was curious.
"I was kidnapped when I was fifteen."
Oakley's eyes flew wide open in shock.
Fifteen!?!
Then how long had she been in here for?
"I'm so sorry." She didn't know what else to say
"No. It's okay." The woman said. "You know, the only way to get out of this place is by being sold to someone."
"Really? No other way?"
"If there was I wouldn't still be in here. This place is like a maze, except there is only one way in and one way out, and it is heavily guarded making escapes impossible."
"Then why didn't you get someone to buy you?"
The woman chuckled. "It doesn't work that way. You don't get someone to buy you. You have to be selected by the ones in charge to be auctioned at the black market."
