I woke up in searing pain. "Colt, it's time." I almost yelled. He moaned. "The heavy sleeper," I mumbled. "Colt," I yelled, hitting him. He jolted awake. "Time." That's all I said before he jumped up, got jeans and a shirt on. He picked up the packed bag full of diapers and a change of clothes for me.
Then he picked me up and carried me out to the truck. "Month early, but that's good timing." He told me. After he opened the door and helped me up, he quickly closed the door and ran to his side. Once he was in, he started it and drove.
The clock read midnight precisely. "Just breathe, Cupcake. We're almost there." A few minutes later, he pulled in front of the ER entrance. He jumped out and hurried to my side. "I think my water just broke," I told him as he carried me to a nurse with a wheelchair. "Don't worry, everything's going to be fine." He told me.
They got me situated in a labor room. I could already feel the baby coming. The doctor came in after I was helped into a gown. The entire time, Colt was there doing his part. The head was extremely close now. "Ok, it's going to be quick and easy." The doctor said. I gripped Colt's hand tightly. A popping noise came from it. "Push." The doctor said. "Ok, its head is out. Now the shoulders, then it should be easier."
I pushed again. "Doing good baby, keep going." Once the baby was born, the doctor said it was a boy. "Wyatt Isaac," Colt whispered. Suddenly, another round of pain went through me. "Doc, I think there's another." One of the nurses said.
"I know you can do this, baby girl," Colt told me. "Its head is already almost out." The doctor said. I pushed until its shoulders were out. "Just breathe, Cupcake, just breathe." "One more push." I pushed, and the second one came out. "It's a girl." "Guess figuring out the girl's name came in handy," I said, almost laughing.
"Bailie Grace," Colt said raspy. They handed the twins to me and Colt. One was in a pink blanket and the other in a blue blanket. "You two can take them home in a few hours once everything is in order." I smiled, looking down at my son.

"I'm going to get the carrier and get another." He said walking out. Maggie stayed with me as I nursed the twins. "Never in our family have we had twins." "But in my family, twins are common. My sister had twins, meaning that I'll have twins. My grandpa was a twin; it stopped at my uncle Kevin, and it went onto my dad's side."
Colt got back with the two carriers. I put Bailie in the pink one while Colt put Wyatt in his. "Born on May 31st," Maggie said. Joseph came in with Maggie's camera. I picked up Wyatt in his carrier while Colt held our little girl in hers. They snapped the picture before I handed him to his father.
I carried the baby bag out to the truck while Colt flexed his muscles with the twins. "All I can say is that they're only going to get heavier," Joseph told his son. "And mischievous," I added.
